Grandad. Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Any two-bit goalie could fill Hart's shoes, he's been pish for club and country for 2 years. Yet still better than Foster, Forster, Ruddy, Stockdale, Butland. Carson and co..
Corky Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Has there ever been a more under achieving so called golden generation in sport than our team of the last ten years? Leicester City 2010-2012. Had the new Christian Vieri in Steve Howard, David Beckham-esque Paul Gallagher, Richie Wellens who is technically second to none, Yakubu, Gelson Fernandes amongst many. Forgot Sol Maldini Bamba.
richardsfoxes Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Lampard will throw in the towel aswell, allows Wilshere and Barkley to move in, lets hope they make the transition.
Fox92 Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 What?! Not on here. I mean in general, the media especially, it's always Gerrard and Rooney that suffer the abuse. I think anyway.
Dan Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Not on here. I mean in general, the media especially, it's always Gerrard and Rooney that suffer the abuse. I think anyway. Yeh fair enough. This doesn't really change anything to me. We're going nowhere with him and nowhere without him.
lgfualol Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 What a way to end your international career, being shit. I would have thought he'd have carried on until he got the highest amount of caps.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 No obvious captain in the side now. Captain Rooney would almost guarantee him a place in the side and only other 'starter' is probably Hart. I think Hart has captain potential but id be surprised if it isn't Rooney Disappointing England career in the end in terms of success but still been a top performer and deserves praise.
ousefox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Second behind Ashley Cole as our best player to perform in an England shirt in the last ten years. Our team really does look poor now. Rooney as captain
Bryn Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Just a shame the team is rubbish yet it's only Gerrard and Rooney that get abuse. People never talk about how shite Johnson is etc. This is bollocks.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Second behind Ashley Cole as our best player to perform in an England shirt in the last ten years. That's like saying the second best tasting dog turd.
Captain... Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 If Wilshire wasn't made of glass it could have been him, but really it has to be Rooney, build a team around his talent, despite all the criticism he gets he is a very talented footballer. If you can get the best out of a player like Rooney then you can really make an impact on a tournament. The captaincy had the desired effect on Beckham, it could do the same for Wayne.
Grandad. Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Wayne Rooney was the player people wanted dropping at the World Cup and now there will be a campaign for him to be captain, only in English football.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 One thing this does highlight is the distinct lack of leaders we can call upon. Who replaces Gerrard? I can only really think of Joe Hart that I'd want near the armband and I'm not entirely sold on that idea whatsoever.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Two months too late and if we are REALLY going to be having Wayne Rooney as the Skipper of the England football team, this is another reflection on how shite we've become. Bobby Moore would be turning in his grave.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Right decision. Shame that Hodgson did not use a diamond formation in Brazil which would have suited Gerrard and the whole team better. Rooney is the obvious replacement as captain - he has nearly 100 caps and he's been playing for England for more than a decade now.
Bryn Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Wonderful insight there. The whole team gets pilloried, Johnson gets no end of stick, Welbeck does, Smalling is in his early twenties and got booed at Wembley ffs.
Fox92 Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 The whole team gets pilloried, Johnson gets no end of stick, Welbeck does, Smalling is in his early twenties and got booed at Wembley ffs. Ok.
johnny the fox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Thought he had done this a month before the end of last season..
Leicesterpool Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 He's had a decent England career to be proud off, certainly pulled us out of some scrapes but the last year or so he has struggled and in some occasions we haven't missed him when he's absent. Thank u Stevie but time to look to the future.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 About time, what a shit year this man has had. Slips and cost his beloved Liverpool the league and then captain's England to their worst world cup campaign ever. Most over rated player of all time ?
