Guest Col city fan Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 What I’m saying is that whether they stay-up or go-down doesn’t really justify their transfer policy. Look at it this way: If you took out a loan for £500k and bet it all on Chelsea winning tomorrow - and then they do win – does that mean that it’s sound financial planning on your part?! You can get them at 1.22 so you’d make £110k. Would your missus and kids be lauding you as a financial genius?! Or would she be beating you with a rolling pin for risking your futures? Bear in mind that technically Fernandez is just loaning QPR all this money. At some point, he’s gonna want some of it back. What happens then if they are in the Championship? Knowing my missis, she'd not question how I got it, but would be more than happy to spend it. Her collection of handbags would dramatically increase..and shoes.. And clothes (how many bloody clothes does she want?).. She'd collect 'accoutrements' like Arry collects players..

LanguedocFox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Regarding last weekends results one swan does not make a summer. You really think a midfield pairing of King and Hammond is going to cut it week in week out?! No one is saying take the Portsmouth blue print and run with it, that was a farce what ever line of business you are in, what i am saying is QPR have added strength in depth which we simply have not done. Obviously i want City to do well and i was made up with last weekends result but something appears to be wrong in terms of getting players in, imo i think we need a layer of management between Pearson and the owners who are capable of attracting the players that are in the budget range the owners are willing to pay........however i think it will be a cold day in hell before Pearson relinquishes sole control of things like that. Erm... Being pedantic, one swan is an irrelevant indicator of summer; one swallow, however, might or might not suggest that sunnier days are on their way. And I think King and Hammond did very well last Saturday.
The Doctor Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Have they really though? They've bought better names than us, but that isn't better business. Our problem last season was set pieces, we've bought a target man and a winger capable of putting in a good ball. Burnley had no strength in depth and have fleshed their squad out. QPR had no goal threat and have not rectified that. Us and Burnley have gone "we need milk" and bought milk. QPR have gone "we need milk" and bought cigarettes and a copy of nuts. They've got nicer new stuff, but they've done worse business
Guest Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Hold on.. And this is no dig. Haven't many stated that QPR will go straight back down? Redknapp's a .... (Add expletive here). Yet now 'if they finish above us it will be because they have no financial constraints'. Well which is it? Are they a bunch of overpaid mercenaries who are doomed to relegation or might their spending on (generally agreed on decent players) keep them up? As far as I read you, you kill any debate dead. If they get relegated, they were bound to, cos they're rubbish. If they come above us, they're bound to cos they've spent tons. end of chat that.. No offence, but where do you go from there? I simply think they've probably bought well this time round.. All the financial chat aside. But again, we'll see. You realise that Redknapp can still be a **** and them have no financial constraints right? (other than the rules which they are destined to ignore)
okie fox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 As I recall it, Fernandes said that he wasn't going to keep pumping money into QPR and then he appointed Harry as manager. That seems pretty stupid!
Raw Dykes Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Erm... Being pedantic, one swan is an irrelevant indicator of summer; one swallow, however, might or might not suggest that sunnier days are on their way. And I think King and Hammond did very well last Saturday. Thanks. I thought it was weird that no-one pointed that out, and I wasn't going to do it myself. "Say what you see!" "A bird in the hand is worth two in the hedge?" "The early bird catches the flies?" "It's good, but it's not right." I totally agree about King and Hammond. If they carry on like that, James and Drinkwater will feel like they have to knuckle down even harder than last season, which can only be a good thing.
Grewks Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 You cannot buy Team Spirit. Do Hammond and king have the quality to match the likes Barry, mccarthy and naismith? No, but their desire to help themselves and their teammates showed what we are capable of on saturday.
iancognito Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I've got nothing against QPR the club just Harry - The Manager, The Myth. His record amounts to one of being mid-table for many years with West Ham, making Southampton worse than they were at the time, winning the FA Cup with Pompey in a season where all the top 6 got knocked out early, spending cash they didn't have on some really mediocre players and leaving for Spurs where he again spent a lot of money and won fck all. If he were from Manchester or Scotland he'd have been ignored and given a much harder time for his record but because he dines in the same restaurants as a lot of the "top" journo's he's "Good ol' 'Arry" the wheeler dealer who should have managed England.. The squad he's assembled isn't a particularly good one, they were nothing but average last season and adding Caulker and Ferdinand isn't exactly improving the defence. As for Fer, he's in the same league as Norwich's other Dutchman Van Wolfswinkel. He had a couple of shining moments but failed to deliver in enough games. The player who may keep them above the line this season is Remy - if he stays fit - and they've only got him because Liverpool's other targets became available.

Just for the record, it's a swallow, not a swan. I wouldn't point it out, but everything else you've said is stupid too. [edit: languedoc said it first, but your posts have really been that bad that I think the double abuse is justified].Have they really though? Perfectly sums up everything about the QPR/Pearson debate. If anyone here would genuinely swap Redknapp and Fernandes for Pearson and Top then I absolutely despair for them...

Didn't like Nigel getting tarred with brush of lavishing money around because of Sven but we are doing the same to Harry. Hughes messed the club up, Harry took over, tried to save them, couldn't. Then loaned his big earners out and tried to keep his side competitive for promotion (sound familiar?) and got there first season. He has now made what look like a few decent signings and we have a pop again? And those saying the players he bought like caulker got relegated for a reason, can I remind you of matt Upson? At least cardiff were sad to see caulker go, which can't be said of 2/3 of Upsons last clubs.

Guest Col city fan Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 You think Rio is on £30k a week? What is Rio earning do you reckon?
Babylon Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 What is Rio earning do you reckon?Too much judging on his Hull performance. Best sell his caps quick, no bigger will want them with those performances.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Too much judging on his Hull performance. Best sell his caps quick, no bigger will want them with those performances. Its only one game but I do agree. One of the signings I wouldn't have made is Rio.
Haydos Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 What is Rio earning do you reckon? Was he on a reported £120k at the end of his Utd contract? I expect somewhere betweek £60-80k depending on bonuses. Obviously complete speculation but I can't see him dropping half his wages let alone more than that.
ImBlue Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 You think Rio is on £30k a week? Confused, I never said that. But we love experience on here, with people who add more than just to playing team. I find it funny that we see Matt Upson and GTF as people who have 'know how' and yet we write of the benefits of having one of the worlds best defenders in his prime, in your squad. That said I don't think it's great business but we really do pick and choose on here.
Dr The Singh Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Did I not read that Fernandes has pulled out of his formula one commitments to focus completely on QPR? And aren't they embarking on building a new stadium? At fear of being labelled a 'megalomaniac' again (I literally had to look up that word... Not good) I'm not disagreeing with you. The City model is safer, less risky, more prudent. But Fernandes shit-scared? He doesn't come across like that to me. But you could be correct. Note that final sentence.... Col, don't listen to them, as far as I'm concerned your being very reasonable and with great perspective. But then again this is foxestalk and most of the people on here are just fluffers and morons.

That said I don't think it's great business but we really do pick and choose on here. I didn't mean to imply you did. It was just the line about shipping out his big earners. I think Ferdinand is good experience to add like Upson is but I'm not sure whether I'd want him as first choice. I just don't understand how QPR can afford this. I'm far from being clued up on FFP but don't you have to spend within your means to a certain point? Or does the tv money from this promotion/being in the Prem count toward your revenue and effectively mean you can spend a lot more while you're here?

I agree, I think some of your posts have been over the top defences of QPR and you do like to talk about them (nothing wrong with that) but none of them have been outrageous this week. I think you did some damage with the Cattermole post mate

Foxes1 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 He is making such a good job of it they are only 4-0 to Tottenham at the minute.
65RosesFox Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Very early days yet but based on their two results, lost two, conceded 5 scored 0 it looks like Mark Hughes Mk 2 Lovely jubbly!
LCFC Rennie Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Not surprising with his wide links to other clubs?
