Texas Man Aquitted of shooting dead drunk driver

Maybe only in America thread

A drunk driver killed a fathers two sons while they were pushing his truck. He got a gun out and alleged to have shot the driver in the head. The prosecution could not convince the jury to convict the father. The driver was found to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, Sort of justice but  what will happen if the driver (age 20) father decided to take revenge on the man who shot his son? Assuming he did it which is in doubt now.

The evidence was not overwhelming no murder weapon and no gunpowder stains on his hands. So the jury were not 100% convinced.

I guess we will all have an opinion on it... but until you watch both of your sons get killed by a drunk driver, its hard to say how you'll react

I've edited the post. I only skim read it. There was not enough evidence to convince the jury which is fair enough.

Why do you never properly read articles before posting them on here?

Pretty irrelevant. We all might react similarly (probably why average joes shouldn't carry firearms) but that doesn't mean we should be excused for it.

He killed someone who was barely an adult himself, albeit one who'd done something who'd done something immensely stupid.

1.30 in the morning? I said I skim read it and went back to check with the page open for a quick edit. I was not expecting a reply so quick as there had not been any posts for nearly a hour. I saw the bit where he took out a gun but missed 'the prosecution claimed.' part. I should not have said I edited it. I am too honest.

My mind was also blown reading it lol

Did I put that? Well the link is there if you want perfect English. I bet they never wrote it at 1.30am trying to keep awake. Just reread it and cannot see where I put a dead guy was driving. I put 'a drunk driver killed a father's two sons'

Why didn't you just wait until you had read it then? What's the big rush to post at 1:30am? It's not rocket science is it!

how was a dead guy driving?

Sorry just noticed I missed a out a comma in the topic title. I do not like long headlines. A typical headline should not be more than six or seven words long. Although this one is eight.

The article had 'murdering drunk driver' I had 'shooting dead drunk driver' but I did not want to copy it word for word. Thanks for pointing it out.

A continuing blood feud would in the end wipe out everybody in america.. then we could take over..works for me.

First thing I noticed too. Intrigued me that much I had to read the post, even though it was one of rinceys!!

It was only the heading. There are plenty of strange titles to threads. I usually ignore them and carry on with my life.

Then stop putting crap threads on here and let us get on with ours.

Everyone else is perfect then? ;)

Perhaps I should be on the lookout for typos in others and change the whole context of threads.

Who determines the crap threads, the grammar Nazis? :)

Why was he having his sons push his truck? Drunk driver or not anyone could have hit them if they were stood in the road? :dunno: But you need context such as time of day, lightness, weather, built up area or not, busy road or not etc

True which is why the jury probably could not reach a verdict. I believe it was December. What is the weather like in Texas that time of year? Was he wearing gloves> Was it dark? Did he have lights on?

Gunpowder stain on hands?

Thought they found none which was a flaw in the prosecution case.

Police failed to produce a murder weapon linked to the killing, gunpowder residue tests on Barajas' hands were negative

The reason I mentioned the gloves was that it says  'it was a dark December night' and I was wondering if the weather in Texas would be cold enough for him to be wearing driving gloves.
