gibbin82 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Did anyone else noticed former Leicester chairman Martin George sitting in the row in front of Nigel Pearson at the Stoke game (checkout MOTD on catchup TV). I wondered if he was something to do with Stoke now or even might become part of the LCFC team in the future.
Webbo Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I'd guess he can get still get tickets with just a phone call and where else would he sit other than the directors box?
Footballwipe Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 One of the best chairmen we've ever had. Shrewd appointments and presided over managerial replacements and stability when MON was being hounded by our supporters. Think he's allowed the odd ticket in the directors box from time to time

Think he's allowed the odd ticket in the directors box from time to time He made some great managerial appointments but was another in a long line of chairmen more interested in lining their own pockets than the success of the club. We are much better off now and well rid.
Solihullfox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He is nearly always in the Directors Box at the home matches and has been for the last two or three seasons
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He was at the arsenal game and i saw him at a couple of away games last season.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He's a leicester fan and attends pretty much all our games. Goes to see the youth team quite a lot as well.
Saxondale Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 No, I didn't notice him but I did notice the absolute fitty.
Bettsj2 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 No, I didn't notice him but I did notice the absolute fitty. That's Terry Robinsons daughter apparently.
wattolcfc Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Saw him in his land rover driving towards the ground on opening day so I gather he goes down still.
bovril Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He made some great managerial appointments but was another in a long line of chairmen more interested in lining their own pockets than the success of the club. We are much better off now and well rid. Not absolutely true. He was prudent in a time when there weren't huge amounts of money flying around. Compare his regime to Elsom's when we nearly destroyed the club giving vast amounts of money to a piss-poorly chosen manager.
Sir Shep Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Is Martin George the Wheatabix owner or was that someone else? Anyway I thought he was alright as far as chairmen go. I remember Shipman, now he was a complete plank.
Shipman Out Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Is Martin George the Wheatabix owner or was that someone else? Anyway I thought he was alright as far as chairmen go. I remember Shipman, now he was a complete plank. Haha agreed

Compare his regime to Elsom's when we nearly destroyed the club giving vast amounts of money to a piss-poorly chosen manager. But if you compare Martin George to our current owners then we are much better off with what we have now. How much of his own money did George invest? He stated at the time it was none. This is what held Leicester back for decades, local businessmen using the club for the advancement of their own business interests rather than concentrating on improving the club. George was by no means the worst however. He did pick good managers and was a good executive. Kudos to him for still going to watch now too.
Filberts Treat Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I think he's on the board of directors
Rob1742 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He is a big fan, goes to most away games in the directors box with the owners. Nothing to do with weetabix, that company was sold well over 10 years ago and it was his brother Richard who was the main shareholder.
David Lowe Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He made some great managerial appointments but was another in a long line of chairmen more interested in lining their own pockets than the success of the club. We are much better off now and well rid. That is ridiculous. I have had dealings with Martin and doubt very much that he was lining his own pocket. I'm sure you cannot prove that. He is a true Leicester fan who was instrumental in turning the club around with some excellent managerial appointments. He did not have millions to invest but did anybody else at that point?

I remember Shipman, now he was a complete plank. You mean the shipman family and the bloor family. Really would like to know where the money went. Remember being at a liverpool game 34k capacity no spare seats and you could not move on the kop yet they claimed only 24k like fvck. Half the turnstiles did not record back in the office wonder we never had a problem.
