Given the game against Burnley is likely to have a similar patter to the Palace game...do you think Nige will pick a side with much more energy?

Great assets Cambiasso and Hammond are.....but they didn't cope with the energy very well on Saturday, and despite drinkwater also struggling, it appeared to be a result of lack of sharpness, and lack of ability on the ball instead of a lack of energy.

Given his great start to the season, and the threat he may always pop up with a goal, do you think we should start king on Saturday?

I dont know, but what ever side NP picks if we dont pick up 3 points off Burnley at home there is something wrong, they cant score and it seems like they cant defend having just got beat 4 - 0 by West Brom

I honestly don't know whether to be happy with the situation we are in or whether to be unhappy at us losing the last game so easily.

Any defeat is hard to take. The Shrewsbury one was understandable given our lack of cover at CM. Chelsea was to be expected. But the Palace one the performance was flat and Pearson got it well wrong for the first time in a long time.

I just hope we put in a solid performance.

I'm not sure about starting King. I hope we go 4-4-2 and see how James and DD get on.

I didn't think it was that intense a game personally. Pearson noted after the game that they defended deep and didn't press the ball much. Our midfielders had time on the ball, they just didn't use it well. We weren't overrun by marauding attacks either and I actually felt fairly comfortable watching us defend in open play.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, I dunno. I'm always struck by how differently people see matches and I'm often left thinking it's me being dim!  lol

Burnley seem to like sitting deep themselves. They did at West Brom anyway. I expect us to have more possession but that hasn't meant much this season.

If you can get a goal early against a team that defends deep they cant sit back for the whole game and you can draw them out through keeping possession leading them to make mistakes,  Burnley are a hard team to break down but i honestly dont get what Dyche's plan is to stay up this season just try and draw every game 0-0 surely they have to try and be more positive? Are they a big team good at set pieces? this is something we stuggled with against Palace although they had 5 or more players over 6ft by the look of it and Warnock basically inherited the Pullis team

TBF Grewks, I'd like to hear your views on whether you think Nugent should play?

lol

I can't see this being anything like the Palace game to be honest, if your think Palace and Burnley have comparable teams you're woefully under rating some of the talent in Palace's squad. Not to mention the fact that we're at home this time.

If we attack them and play our game well I think we'll win. They don't have the same weapons Palace posses and will struggle to hurt us at the other end. Having said that it's far from a gimme and if we don't turn up they could be taking points back up to Lancashire with them.

I saw the Palace game very similarly to you, Harry.

When we had possession, Palace got a lot of men behind the ball, but they only really pressed when we got close to their area. They let us play it around midfield, in front of them, and we didn't manage to penetrate their deep, well-organised defensive barrier.....then when they won possession, they used their pace and skill on the wings to good effect (Bolassie was the best player on the pitch, unfortunately), although we defended reasonably well against that.

We can partly blame our midfield, for once, for being a bit sluggish in moving the ball, but we also lacked width - both when defending and when attacking. As I'd expect Burnley to also sit deep and be well-organised (while lacking Palace's ability on the ball - and maybe pressing higher), we'll probably need more width to break them down by moving their defence around the pitch.

So, 4-4-1-1 with Mahrez & Vardy (or Schlupp) wide, and Nugent shuttling between attack and midfield? That would probably mean dropping Hammond (though I thought he was one of our better performers v. Palace) and leaving James on the bench, unless Nugent dropped out and we played 4-5-1, which would control possession better but might lack bite up front.... This might also be a game for Knocky to feature, if he's match fit - maybe off the bench.

I hope they'll also be practicing defending set plays again. We seemed to have improved a lot in that area this season, so to lose 2 goals to set plays in a tight game v. Palace was a major disappointment.

For this game, we just go back to what we did last season. Let's go 4-4-2 with good width and faster play than Saturday. It worked for us so well against most teams who sat deep and we know and play that system best. Some people will be left out but that's what we have to deal with now. It was obvious that our lack of width vs Palace really harmed us and no creativity from midfield areas was a big problem. Bring James back in, bring Mahrez back in and play either of Schlupp or Knockaert on the other wing. Maybe Vardy needs to realise he's not Ronaldo and put him on the bench. Get the work ethic back and do what we did so well all last season. I'm sure all of us will be very disappointed if we don't take all 3 points on Saturday, especially when their main attacking threats are out.

If I had to drop either Vardy of Nugent, I'd drop Vardy.

I think Vardy will be at his best against teams that like to keep posession, e.g. Manchester United. When we eventually won the ball, Vardy was able to use his pace to counter attack

When we play Burnley, we will be the ones with a lot of posession, so, you'd assume this counter attacking tactic wouldn't be effective. Instead, I think you need creative players that can do something 'special' on the ball: Anthony Knockaert, Riyad Mahrez. The Vardy runs are far less likely to work because the defence will be sat much further back.

As for the Palace game, Cambiasso looked to play the ball over the defence a lot, but their back line was quite deep, this meant that his pass had to be inch perfect. It wasn't. Hammond and Drinkwater did okay defensively but they offered very little going forward. They were playing at a very slow tempo, there was no "pass and move". When Matty James came on, the first thing he did was pass the ball forward, that was refreshing. Based on the Palace performance, I'd be ever-so-slightly tempted to try out a James-Cambiasso partnership vs Burnley.

My team vs Burnley would be: 4-4-1-1: Kasper, Konchesky, Moore, Morgan, DeLaet, Schlupp, Cambiasso, James, Mahrez, Nugent, Ulloa

I doubt very much that my starting XI will be the same as Peason's. I'm reluctant to say Vardy should start because that pushes Nugent out wide. If Vardy did play, I'd like to see him on the wing.  Hey, it's all about opinions though.

Absolutely, I know this will be scoffed at but I honestly believe Kingy could be a Leicester version of Lampard, well timed late runs into the box, always on the look out for space, he gets way more goals than he should. Obviously he's not there yet but with the amount key goals he's got for us over the years, for me he has got to start, week in week out.

We just have to realise that sometimes teams/players do not perform from time to time.  It happens.  When I used to play, i'd be really up for a particular game, eat right, sleep right, feel brilliant, then have a complete stinker and we would lose 3-0.  Other times I wouldn't be feeling the best, have a slight niggle and end up winning and getting man of the match.  It's not down to "lack of ability on the ball" as you put it.  Football is difficult to predict at times.

Phil Dowd is the ref, loves a dodgy penalty. For this reason alone Vardy is a must for you.

Vardy's only won one like that.
