Sir Fynwy Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 I really don't see the Libs collapsing like has been predicted. If you were a Labour supporter in a Con/Lib marginal you're still going to vote Lib to keep the tories out. You wouldn't necessarily say that to a pollster though. I think a lot of the labour voters in safe Tory seats tried the tactic of voting LD last election and won't do it ever again.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Actually thought he was decent Thought he came across very human and likeable, far too much avoiding of the question though and his coalition question isn't going away. That said - Farage and Bennett apart I expect the same avoidance from all the leaders. Star of the night for me was Mr Unbuntu party - he sounded like he'd been booted out the Greens for being too radical.

If that's the case who are these people voting for now? People always overestimated Liberal actual support - was bumped up nationally by huge protest vote that now seems to be with UKIP or the Greens They'll still pick up more seats than expected, vote share will be massacred but they have a great ground game and in areas where the are strong Scotland apart they'll do ok. The Eastleigh by election showed that.
MooseBreath Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Typical greens supporters on this Fighting the System show on bbc3. What a bunch of filthy scum.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Typical greens supporters on this Fighting the System show on bbc3. What a bunch of filthy scum. How do you manage to get into a mindset where you are mid 30's, openly admit you haven't had a job and don't want one as it's a lifestyle choice but still demand to be able to get on the housing ladder? Oh god here's Russell Brand.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 This bloke who has dedicated his life to 'no more page 3' is a right weirdo.
Mark_w Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 I don't mean to undermine this programme, but it could have been a lot shorter if Russell Brand had just bought them all houses.
MooseBreath Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 I don't even know where to start with that lot. They're all just such horrible people. The worst was probably the animal lovers attacking and calling the cleaner at burger king a murderer. Poor cleaner was just trying to earn a living and they're subjected to that. Hope they all get jailed.

Hope they all get jailed. That was horrific - right in the poor blokes face as well. 'You are wiping the blood of dead animals' errr no he isn't. Her parents should be absolutely ashamed to have brought up that, what on earth gives them the right to go around vandalising property and aggressively accosting people having some food just because of their beliefs? Would love to see them dare up at the Cheltenham Festival - sad thing they wouldn't.
Benji Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Just watching Ed on Free Speech. He's doing well but the Conservative plant from Kosovo is hilarious.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2015 Posted 12 March 2015 Awful pun from Choo Choo Portillo on This Week just now. "And unfortunately these peadophiles managed to penetrate the children's care homes"
Danno Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 The Ed Miliband programme was great. Shame about some of the complete freaks in the crowd especially the buntu party and the kosovan fella.
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 Awful pun from Choo Choo Portillo on This Week just now. "And unfortunately these peadophiles managed to penetrate the children's care homes" How has he acquired that nickname? Whenever I watch that programme I'm always left wondering why Andrew Neil introduces him that way. Am I missing something obvious?
Danno Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 just seen that one of the annoying cvnts in the crowd goes to harrow school, says it all
johnny the fox Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 Anybody see Charles Kennedy of question time? totally rat arsed...bbc hospitality must be good..

He needs to sort himself out

The Eastleigh by election showed that. I'd hazard a guess that a lot of these voters are now part of a floating voter group slightly inclined towards labour and very unlikely yo vote LD again, I had a chat with an LD peer who was involved in the coalition negotiations and he agreed that tactical voting for the LD's is going to be badly hit.
Benji Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 Typical greens supporters on this Fighting the System show on bbc3. What a bunch of filthy scum. Up there with one of the worst bits of TV I've ever watched. Some horrible individuals.
Alf Bentley Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 Anybody see Charles Kennedy of question time? totally rat arsed...bbc hospitality must be good.. Kennedy did me a favour last night. It had been a heavy week for work, culminating in a 4am-5pm work session yesterday, followed by school parents' evening. So, I went down the local to read the paper and watch the Everton match over a few relaxing beers. Came back and fell asleep in front of the News for 30 mins, and woke up to the sight of Kennedy's tired, red face struggling to compose his thoughts. I threw my beer down the sink, went to bed and woke up fresh as a daisy this morning. Thanks, Charles! He didn't seem pissed as much as seriously hungover. I suspect that he'd not been necking it in the Green Room, more like all night the previous night or something. I hope not, for his sake. He was supposed to have knocked it on the head, wasn't he? If the polls are to be believed, he'll have more time on his hands soon, as they reckon he's set to lose his seat to the SNP.
Captain... Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 A couple of things, I am getting a bit sick of the constant twisting of everything UKIP say, I completely disagree with their stance on Europe but what was actually said yesterday and the way it was spun was awful. I kinda agree with him and any sort of positive discrimination in employment is still discrimination. Whilst I'm not sure I believe his party is colour blind I do think that we as a country should be and any positive discrimination laws should be scrapped, although I think the problem is greater when we can't give a contract to a UK manufacturer because a foreign one has made a better offer under EU competition laws, that would be one area I would tell the EU to do one. The smear job on Farage is just tiresome that channel 4 program was awful and failed to actually address the key concerns such as how businesses would react to us leaving the EU instead we got sensationalist bollocks. As for Miliband on free speech last night he came across as credible and competent, which for him is obviously a huge plus. Still a politician but he did engage with his audience and faced some tough questions and handled it well. The problem he has always had is he isn't a good debater and comes off second to Cameron regularly having his own platform to speak from rather than someone to argue with suited him better especially as he spent most of the show talking about what Labour will do rather than trying to score points off the conservatives. He made an interesting comment about PMQs and how he would look to change it.

He made an interesting comment about PMQs and how he would look to change it. Agreed he did very well and that show has really made me think twice about him (not to vote for but as a credible PM whatever the country decides). However I thought along with the SNP questionining the PMQ response was quite poor. If he genuinely doesn't agree with it he should be the bigger man and not join in. You can't just get suckered in by mob mentality and say I do it because everyone else does it. He shouldn't need to become PM to change the way he and his party act at PMQs - it would be much more powerful if they changed their ways and the Tories/Lib Dems etc. continued. On the coalition questioning, I think it's a poor get out from both Labour and the Tories to just say "we're gunning for a majority". We know that, but we also know that, in all likelihood, this general election will result in a coalition. So people should be able to vote in the knowledge that by voting X they may end up with a coalition of X and Y. It's not negative, it's realistic of the times we are in. You would also scupper the argument that "we never voted for this coalition" because everyone knows for sure who their vote is and could be a vote for (although it's pretty obvious: Tories/UKIP, Labour/SNP, Lib Dems + Labour or Tories depending on who wins more seats.
Finnegan Posted 13 March 2015 Posted 13 March 2015 Being able to prioritise (and even be encouraged to hire) British people over foreign born residents is a really stupid idea. Commercially, socially, ethically, practically, whatever. There isn't a level it isn't stupid on. If you want tougher immigration laws then go for it. Leave the EU, only let in highly qualified professionals or nobody at all. Whatever. But once people are actually in the country? Hire the best person for the job and nobody else. If someone wants to work and can do a good job then I don't care if they're born in Somerset or Somalia. You can't be horrified by "politically correct" positive discrimination and then support it if it's a bit more nationalistic. Surely it doesn't matter if you're a soft liberal cheese eater or a militantly entrenched ultra capitalist you want to hire the best person available and sod their place of birth? Whatever your view on immigration, once "they" are in the horse has bolted. Forget the stable door, go get your horse.

Why should there be positive discrimination based on race?
