MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 If anything he grew in strength as his interview went on. Shaky at the start and solid by the end. What was weird about his response? If anything, it was surprise at probably the way Paxman asked him the 'are you okay?' in such a patronising manner. As if Paxman felt he had battered Ed to the ground and as if he had won their little battle. When in fact Ed had stood his ground amicably and retorted to Paxman's usual habits. It was a bit passive aggressive. As a potential prime minister I would expect him to be able to keep his cool in any situation. See also his "hell yes" comment, you can't tell me that he actually wanted to say that, it came out of his mouth because he was flustered and struggling to maintain control.

Spot on with that, last person to use that term when flustered in a debate.... And you can guarantee no one is going to want to watch a porno with an Ed Miliband lookalike in it.

Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 lol That's fantastic What did you google for that?
Jimothy Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 lol That's fantastic What did you google for that? Shamefully it was "Beaker Muppet Porn".
Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Fair play to Ed for whipping that line out mind. Can't be many political quotes that gained huge support of both the metroplitan liberal elite and the gun cradling rednecks of the deep south.

So what you wanted was a scripted, robotic response instead? Perhaps he said 'hell yes' to being asked the same question and wanted a firmer, definitive answer to Paxman?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 After his very shaky start Ed came across as a real human man, with emotions and opinions. Dave came across as a politician.

Rincewind Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 We need a human politician not a robotic politician if that makes sense.
bovril Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Robot politician would be awesome. Especially if it turned evil.

Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 We need a human politician not a robotic politician if that makes sense. I actually think that's the most sensible thing you've ever written that doesn't rhyme.

MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 So what you wanted was a scripted, robotic response instead? Perhaps he said 'hell yes' to being asked the same question and wanted a firmer, definitive answer to Paxman? I would say controlled and measured rather than scripted. Although to be fair if he starts throwing in deep south lingo more often I'll probably like him a lot more. Trevor McDonald: how will you be celebrating your election victory, ed? Ed: y'all know I'm fixin' to get up in that honky tonk, now come here Trevor and give me some sugar.

Can just imagine someone egging him on the street and him yelling back 'bumbaclart!'

Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 March 2015 Posted 28 March 2015 Ed dealt with Paxo's personal jibes well. Thought it was a little bias, even if unintentionally. Burley butted in and questioned Ed repeatedly where as for Cameron she let him waffle on and deal with nonsensical questions which even I could have straight batted away. Overall I reckon it was slightly in favour of Miliband despite what the opinion polls say, he showed a fire and passion that hasn't been seen from the public. Agree with earlier points though, this should have been done a few weeks before the election with Paxo grilling them on their manifesto's rather than just theoretical and personal questions. Don't think Kay Burley added anything to the programme other than show her inherent bias to Cameron.
Buce Posted 28 March 2015 Posted 28 March 2015 No wonder Cameron wouldn't answer about where the welfare savings were coming from: http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32084722
Strokes Posted 28 March 2015 Posted 28 March 2015 No wonder Cameron wouldn't answer about where the welfare savings were coming from: http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32084722 Its seems a bit baseless and speculative. Though £12 billion is a huge amount and will need to come from somewhere, so its fairly obvious these areas will suffer. They are going to have to open up on this one.
Merging Cultures Posted 28 March 2015 Posted 28 March 2015 Everything these guys do is rehearsed. Cameron is just more convincing in it. I think Ed gets flustered trying to remember his lines. I bet his aides tested Hell Yeah, and found people think it makes the person saying seem more relatable and 'tougher'. Being tougher is clearly something he is working on. He just isn't convincing, he comes across as on the edge of being uncontrolled, rather than a strong leader.
