MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Just watching on 4od, thought Cameron dealt with Paxman's deliberately obtuse questioning very well, batting him away with plain evidence-backed factual positives.
The Railway Man Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Can't stand Kay Burley, her biased showed last night. Also she was dressed like she was attending a hen night at a Wetherspoons in Accrington If I saw Kay Burley out and up for it in Accrington I'd be trying to get up it like a rat up a drainpipe.Thought they both got their ass handed to them altho paxman does that to every politician he speaks to. As others have said though, the only one you can really see as a Prime Minister is Cameron. Miliband and Balls running the country is a scary thought for anyone who doesn't want to be on the rock and roll.
SMX11 Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 I don't understand why there is such an emphasis on who is the PM. Surely you are voting for the party and the policies they project through their manifesto.
MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Miliband looks like he needs an arm wrapped around him. So out of his depth I feel sorry for him.
purpleronnie Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Milliband actually wins a debate. Yey!!!! Even Farage is praising him.
Rincewind Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Tory supporters won't think he won.'He was just given an easier time.'
Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Tory supporters won't think he won.'He was just given an easier time.' You don't half talk some shit Ken, if you are going to make ridiculous comments on these things you should at least watch them. No Tory supporter has said that, if you can find one show me. It was Jeremy Paxman, a man who gives a hard time to every politician he has ever faced from all sides of the spectrum. And only one poll was actually conducted and it gave Cameron a slight victory, what would be seen as a split decision in Boxing.
Jimothy Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Can't stand Kay Burley, her biased showed last night. Also she was dressed like she was attending a hen night at a Wetherspoons in Accrington Haven't watched last night yet, will try and get to watch it over the weekend, but I'm not surprised Kay Burley is being accused of bias, she's ridiculously bias reporter. Anybody saying otherwise is fooling themselves. Saw an interview a few years back that always stuck in my mind, when she was interviewing Chris Bryant. Her treatment of him, her talking over him, arguing, and outright arrogance were astonishing.
MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Milliband actually wins a debate. Yey!!!! Even Farage is praising him. It wasn't even a debate. It was two separate interviews. Even so I've no idea how anyone can call that a miliband win. The guy was thoroughly shaken up by the end, as evidenced by his weird Pearson-esque response to being asked if he was OK. Cameron meanwhile was the picture of credibility. He wasn't showstopping by any means but he was solid premier league to miliband's conference.

MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 What's your point ken? Have you decided which of the liberal party policies you like yet?
EnderbyFox Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Don't agree that Cameron was a picture of credibility, he stuttered through the opening 5-10 minutes of his interview with Paxman.
Finnegan Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Cameron the picture of credibility? Um. Before Milliband stepped up and let him off the hook, social media (including FT) was awash with how much of a pounding he took. Neither came off particularly well. Milliband was expected to perform much worse so could arguably shade it for having exceeded expectation though clearly sits marginally behind in the Guardian poll, which says a lot.

I'm surprised he won in the polls. The first thing the reporter said on Newsnight was that it seemed like a clear win for Miliband. Maybe it was just the shock at him putting in a fairly decent performance that surprised a few people initially, though I personally thought he outperformed Cameron on the night.

davieG Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 A bit of local news UKIP, Greens and Lib Dems join the race against Leicester East's Labour MP Keith Vaz By danjmartin | Posted: March 27, 2015 UKIP's Susanna Steptoe Lib Dem Dave Raval Green Nimit Jethwa Mr Rawal, a football referee in his spare time, said: "We need out the housing crisis in the UK, where we don't have enough properties for people to live in, and where young people can't afford to buy nor rent. "Improving equality at all levels, from tackling discrimination on the basis of disability, race, religion, sex and sexuality - right through to turning around the ever-increasing gap between the rich and the poor." UKIP have selected 31-year-old teacher Susanna Steptoe, from Stoneygate, as their candidate. Ms Steptoe, from Stoneygate, Leicester, teaches at Moat Community College in Highfields. She said: "I feel particularly strongly about the impact immigration is having on the educational development of young people in the state system. "This is an issue particularly relevant in the local demographic. I hope to challenge the misconceptions surrounding UKIP's policies, and play my part in promoting the restoration of British society." Green prospective parliamentary candidate Nimit Jethwa, from Rushey Mead, works for a Canadian software company having previously worked at the city's Curve theatre. He said politics had become "overwhelmingly broken" with politicians siding with big business over normal voters. He said he would fight to protect the NHS from privatisation and for a stable education system. He said: "I very strongly believe that the Coalition's austerity has failed for everyone but the well off. "The poor should not have to pay for the mistakes of big business. We need to reverse the damage that has been caused and hold big business fully accountable." Mr Vaz is seeking a seventh term as Leicester East's MP and will defend a 14,000 majority. The Conservatives have previously selected Kishan Devani as their candidate and Michael Barker will represent the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition. Probably more to do with people surprised at how difficult paxman can be. He did make Cameron struggle a bit, as you would expect, but miliband was a mess. Best thing miliband did was do his paxman interview last, when a lot of people, especially labour voters (I'm generalising) would have got bored and switched over to something else. If you line the two interviews up side by side, Cameron was in a totally different class.
StanSP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 It wasn't even a debate. It was two separate interviews. Even so I've no idea how anyone can call that a miliband win. He wasn't showstopping by any means but he was solid premier league to miliband's conference. If anything he grew in strength as his interview went on. Shaky at the start and solid by the end. What was weird about his response? If anything, it was surprise at probably the way Paxman asked him the 'are you okay?' in such a patronising manner. As if Paxman felt he had battered Ed to the ground and as if he had won their little battle. When in fact Ed had stood his ground amicably and retorted to Paxman's usual habits.
Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 G'wan Susanna. Friend of mine, known her since I was a kid. She's moved across as she was Tory member up until last year, great girl though and she'll do herself proud, press certainly won't be able to pin any racism accusations on her anyway.

Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Got a black best friend? Even better, engaged to a mixed race member of the British Army and spent most of her adult life running a soccer school in South Africa.
Guest MattP Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 The grauniad poll was taken from the audience members, I believe, not its readership. ICM conduct the poll, who I believe are the Guardian's pollsters. They poll random people from a wide demographic though, not own readers.
Darkon84 Posted 27 March 2015 Posted 27 March 2015 Even better, engaged to a mixed race member of the British Army and spent most of her adult life running a soccer school in South Africa. I believe that's what can be classed as 'untouchable'.
