Filbert Walker Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I remember the Adam & Eve night club which I used to "visit" most Saturday nights from about 1981-85... it was, as I was a very young looking 17 year old, the only club i could get in... I stood no chance at Mr Kiesa's and only managed to get in The Palais if with a young lady!!!... which sadly wasn't that often..... There was another one at the bottom of new Walk that i could get into but its name escapes me.... Your memories / thoughts...

I don't know where any of them places are now. Are any of them still going now but with a different name?
Rincewind Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Used to go Airmans Rest and County Arms in Blaby. This was in mid 70's to mid 80's. Palais and one on London Road amongst others and I was not really one for night clubs. Only went in with friends.

I struggle to manage more than 1 with all the entrance costs and queuing times
Guest MattP Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I'm shocked matt you went in a Wetherspoons. You've drank with me in a Wetherspoons. Not in one night surely? I struggle to manage more than 1 with all the entrance costs and queuing times Yeah, that used to be the normal route, in between local and the High Cross it wasn't uncommon for a bottle of vodka to vanish waiting for a taxi at home either between 3 or 4 of us, the only queue I remember was Creation or Zanzibar but I didn't used to get there until about 1am. They were the only ones you paid to get in back then as well. Voodoo was where it really 'kicked on' with the gas chambers.
hairy Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I remember the Adam & Eve night club My first ever British nighclub. I was 15. Put me off clubs until the rave scene. Blokes round the outside drinking / fighting, girls in the middle with their handbags, ugly bouncers... Granny's on the London Road. Who calls a club Granny's FFS? Rooney?

I thought it was the Parcel Yard next to the station unless I met you and forgot.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 My dad used to be a doorman at Adam & Eve. I don't know where any of them places are now. Are any of them still going now but with a different name? The Palais was the same gaff as Life / Sosho
David Guiza Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Only just 23 so most places I used to go are still open. Soarpoint Monday's and Mosh Tuesday's aren't what they used to be though, Life seemed to be a ritual for just about everyone when I was around 18 too.
Guest MattP Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I thought it was the Parcel Yard next to the station unless I met you and forgot. We spoke to each other for about 5 mins in the Last Plant about a week after that.
Buzzell Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Life back in the day was the place to go. Me and my mates used to stand in the same spot every time we went in there, same faces every week. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then to the Graduate on Sunday night followed by a Maryland. Good times.
Jon the Hat Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Well, about 95-99 it was about a few places, usually Fan club or Alcatraz club wise, and just about any pub or bar that was open.
Beliall Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Wish I could remember my club nights. i you could remember club nights, you were doing it wrong
Merging Cultures Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I started going to Krystals when I was 16, used to get in to their over 21's too. No idea how I managed that given I barely look my age now. We used to go all the time. I was quite successful with the ladies. We also used to go to Palais too and have been to Zanzibar I think a couple of times. I had some cool outfits at the time. A mix of YSL, Paul Smith and other fancy shirts, with velvet trousers. Yes, velvet trousers. Skin tight. The ladies liked to stroke the velvet trousers. The 90's were fun. That's a long time ago now
Illusion35 Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Also used to go to Krystals from being 15 as anyone could get in. Used to say it was my birthday every week to get a free bottle of disgusting sparkling wine!

Soar Fox Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Went Chilli White's once. Ironic really cos I didn't see one white person in there. I don't think they let White people in do they? Same with Fat Cats now, 3/4 white lads try to get in they get refused. 3/4 Asian lads try to get in, yeah no problem.
