Guest Col city fan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 No its not. No he doesn't. He just needs to be consistent, and play like he did during the Newcastle match. You are choosing this match as the barometer as you've moved on from the last match? The pressure should not be on him to be the game winner, it's a team game.Read the post in the context of the thread, not in isolation. Some cite Villa fans stating Albrighton was one of their best players. Others seem convinced he can come in and do a job. It's a six pointer, at home, against his last club. Yes, Albrighton does need to step up and show us he can be a big part in avoiding relegation. He now has his chance and must take it. If he is as good as many on here suggest he is, we need to see it.
waylander Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 yep have to agree good last game. but he has to be up for this and produce those killer crosses !!!

What are you saying is that if he doesn't have a blinder today is been a waste of money right? What if we win and he was average today but destroys Stoke? Should I write him off now and/or get on his back during the Stoke game? How should I display my discontent?
Charl91 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Albrighton was brilliant today. Knockeart has been great too.
lgfualol Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Both wingers stepped up. Albrighton was phenomenal at times. Why doesn't he take corners though?
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Both wingers stepped up. Albrighton was phenomenal at times. Why doesn't he take corners though? To me it's a No Brainer, If James takes a corner, Get ready to cover the counter attack.... Knockaert or Albrighton need to take corners. Thank goodness james won't be playing for a few weeks, woeful IMO.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The point is made....although Albrighton has, thus far, shown pretty much nothing in a City Shirt, many posters, just on this thread, are now convinced he's going to do a job in the absence of Schlupp and Mahrez. Nothing was mentioned about 'proven Premiership quality', I simply said when he's featured he has he's looked average at best and Mahrez and Schlupp have consistently gotten into the side ahead of Albrighton, suggesting Pearson rates both of them more. I also said I think we need improving on the wing. But we'll see. Today is his big chance to show us what Villa fans have apparently been saying about him. stuck two fingers up at you today hasn't he. Looked good in the cup, looked good today. Looked ok for years at Villa, don't really see the argument. Other than the no one can possibly be better than Jeffrey as he's played well twice argument. Don't know what you were expecting from his other rather brief performances for us, he's had one start. He's a decent Premier League player to have if your in a dog fight. I'm surprised he hasn't featured more often. EDIT: Also good to see sulky play like he's got his head screwed back on, little doubt he has the talent if he keeps his feet on the ground.

I'll wait a while before I make up my mind... Like you should have done with our Jeff lad.. Don't forget it's Pearson who has consistently chosen Schlupp and Mahrez in front of Albrighton. I can only assume he must rate them more. Good day for us today. If Knocky and Albrighton can step up now they are needed, it'll give Pearson something to think about.

Guest Col city fan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Didn't you say in another thread that from what you've seen he isn't good enough. Yes, and I'm still unsure he will be. Hence I'm waiting a while before the usual thing on here happens..ie a player becomes the best thing ever or the biggest flop ever, in about two weeks. I want to see him some more before making my own mind up that he will adequately replace the lads at the ACON. That's all. Long may this continue though.. There is belief back in the side.

Like you did with Cambiasso......
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Like you did with Cambiasso...... Exactly like I did with Cambiasso. Rather than assuming he's still world class, I said, hold on and wait and see. I don't want to resurrect another Cambiasso thread, but I'm replying to you. Personally, I still think we seem a more balanced side when Cambiasso isn't playing. All the arguments that have been put forward to counter this have not really made me change my mind. We look a more mobile unit when Cambiasso isn't in the middle. He serves us a purpose, but no way like many have said he does on here. IMO. Again, I'm replying to YOU..and haven't mentioned Cambiasso in ages. Just to make that clear.
yorksfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Agree with you re. Cambiasso. A great player in his day, perhaps, but not what is required now for a team whose midfield will need to battle and protect a generally weak Back Four. Any two (or three) of King, Hammond, James and Drinkwater for me, certainly can't play two in midfield if Cambiasso is one of them!
Buzzell Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Glad to hear he had a good game. Hope he kicks on from here and keeps up the good form. This is just what we need from him whilst Mahrez is on international duty.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 He was outstanding today, worked really hard. I agree. Stepped up well.
kingfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Outstanding is a bit much, he was ok but that's about it, nothing special about his performance. Did far better against Newcastle in my opinion.
theessexfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Got stuck in well, robbed his fullback a few times, nice general play, good composure to slip Nugent in and almost had a goal himself. Having said that, many of his crosses were poor.
iamafox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Outstanding is a bit much, he was ok but that's about it, nothing special about his performance. Did far better against Newcastle in my opinion. Really? I think it's the complete opposite.

Or another way of looking at it is to say that you didn't want him from the start and suggested other players who you thought would be better. You took every opportunity to slate him until people got fed up with it again. In the last few weeks you've been giving him post match 8/10's and predicting he'll score for us in other threads. You eat humble pie with fork in one hand and wave the knife around at him with the other. It's a way of never being wrong I suppose.
kingfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Really? I think it's the complete opposite. Why you think that? He was everywhere for like the first ten minutes, then faded in and out. Simpson's crossing looked more dangerous, and despite getting stuck in, he still lost out in challenges because he was too lightweight.

For what must be the millionth time, I have never understood the wank fest re. Cambiasso. And I've made it absolutely clear why. I said right from the off, I had reservations. I simply did not think he would be the saviour that many thought he would be. And, of course, he hasn't been. The 8's are irony. Did you not know that? (with one exception I think). I'll say it again...I wouldn't start Cambiasso if the other centre mids are fit. I've been pretty consistent on that. And if I sugggested other players who I thought could play a more important role for the team, so what? It's a football forum, full of opinion. Turn this on its head. Yourself, and others have taken every opportunity to have a pop at ME for suggesting what I've suggested about Cambiasso. And you, it seems, are still doing it. Which is a bit stalkish if truth be told.

Oh I was thinking about Newcastle away, I know you mean the cup game from last week. My mistake.
