Marc Albrighton

From what we've seen so far of Albrighton..I don't think he's good enough. There's a world of difference between hoping he is and truly believing it.

Mahrez and Schlupp have proven, at least over the past few weeks, to be two of our most talented players. When is the club going to truly strengthen this squad primarily with a left back and a winger? Many were calling for such quality only a few weeks ago, yet now seem to be accepting of Marc Albrighton as some kind of ideal replacement.

Despite an improvement, the club remains bottom and now without two of our better first teamers. IMO we need to strengthen.

he has played 225 minutes of football for us most of them minutes was against newcastle a game that you didn't see,!

was impressed with his beckham like ability to delivery a ball. doesn't have to beat his man. just make half a yard of space and the ball was in the box.

hopefully he can stay fit now and offer us something different. about time we had some decent service.

Thought he was so-so.considering he's supposed to be a PL.player!

Suppose he ain't played much though for a year!

what - are you kidding me! he was one of the best players on the park.

he's hardly featured so far and when he has it's been with limited minutes. he got nearly a full game and showed why he was so good at Villa for a number of years. It has taken Schlupp around 2 seasons to get to what he has produced in the last few matches and he still hasn't proved himself worthy of an automatic place yet. Albrighton is a quality player and just needs a run of matches to get to his best. against Newcastle he was superb and really showed he isn't just about wing play too. he is far more decisive and willing to turn defense into attack with speed than many of our other midfielders.

Think he'll certainly play a role on Saturday, whether in a starting position or from the bench. With Schlupp out and Mahrez at the AFCON his performance against Newcastle earn as much.

Against villa? Has to start. He was there for years and they neglected him last spring, so he should be well up for the match.

In general, I'm not sure. But Lawrence is an unknown quantity for us in the PL, whereas Marc has plenty of experience at this level and we know what he's capable of.

Got to be Albrighton and Lawrence as the two wide men

Funny you disregard someone a lot of villa fans thoughts was their best player in the second half of last season, as unproven. Yet two of our players have a few good games and they are proven??

Col city fan,.. Jeffrey Schlupp is now a proven prem player after 2 good games? (and he did play well to be fair) but after all Albrighton has done already in his career in the prem he isn't????

Give yourself a day off

I think there is a space for Albrighton in the squad.

No doubt he has a killer cross & has never been someone to run at people like Mahrez due to his lack of pace.

I wouldnt start him for me it's got to be

Knockaert James Drinkwater Lawrence

Knockaert makes Albrighton look like Usain Bolt

He didnt say Schlupp is now a proven premeriship player he said he was one of our most talented in the last few weeks

I have mates that have been season ticket holders at the villa for years and they have always said Albrighton was there best player until Benteke turned up (thought Aston Villa was in London by the way), but he had a couple of serious injuries last 2 seasons but as soon as he was fit he was ripping premier league players apart!! especially the back of last season when he got a run of about 12 games until the end of the season he nearly won the Villas player of the season and he spent 2/3 of season injured so that's why he moved as he knew the Villa was a sinking ship.

He was our best player all through pre season and if it was the fact he got injured last game of pre season against Wender Bremen I think he would have been starting on the wing at the start of the season but Mahrez had some good games and just kept him out of the team. surprised he hasn't had more game time though as he can change a game with his crosses as there so dangerous.

That's still a pointless statement, comparing just two very good performances to all those that Albrighton has under his belt, albeit at another club admittedly

Sorry Col.

Albrighton is our only proven premier league midfielder in the squad. In fact with the exception of Konchesky...he is the only proven player in the squad.

The point is made....although Albrighton has, thus far, shown pretty much nothing in a City Shirt, many posters, just on this thread, are now convinced he's going to do a job in the absence of Schlupp and Mahrez. Nothing was mentioned about 'proven Premiership quality', I simply said when he's featured he has he's looked average at best and Mahrez and Schlupp have consistently gotten into the side ahead of Albrighton, suggesting Pearson rates both of them more. I also said I think we need improving on the wing.

But we'll see. Today is his big chance to show us what Villa fans have apparently been saying about him.

Wasn't he MOTM against Newcastle a week ago?

I believe so and fair play. Newcastle were very poor, we weren't a great deal better, got the win and move on. Today is the big game and big day for Albrighton to show that Villa were wrong not to make an offer which would have kept him. He needs to play well... Mahrez and Schlupp have been probably our two best players in recent weeks.

No its not. No he doesn't. He just needs to be consistent, and play like he did during the Newcastle match. You are choosing this match as the barometer as you've moved on from the last match? The pressure should not be on him to be the game winner, it's a team game.

wrong, on foxestalk players are either garbage or world beaters and usually based off 1 or 2 games. chris wood was the new pele, drinkwater the new viera, knockaert the new zico and moore the new Campbell.
