I've not been since it was Ashfields, so it's been a while!

The Sunday lunch menu is £32 for 2 courses or £37 for 3, which doesn't seem bad value

I'm sensing you don't agree that's it's not bad value? No where is doing a served 3 course Sunday lunch for less than £32/35 unless you're going somewhere for a basic carvery. Or, you have soup and ice cream as your starter and dessert.

Any good shouts for Curry houses in town than can house a big group?

Not the place at the top of Granby Street where you go downstairs into it.

We had a birthday party at Herb and it was really good.

But it's on Granby street and maybe the one you said not to mention although I dont think you go down the stairs.

You could try Tamatanga (average chain) which is quite big, or maybe try Shimla Pinks or Mumbai Inn on London Road (haven't been to either in years). Most of the good ones are outside of the centre though.

Yeah Mumbai Inn is always a shout, Nawazz was always good for a group but that has closed.

Which of the pub/restaurants would you recommend? Large group.

I’m sure Nawaaz has just rebranded as the Spice Hut.

Id recommend Woolpack if you have a big group.

Paddy's, Broadway, Little Club, and Three Kilns would all be able to accommodate. Little Club always has big groups of lads in there.

Is little club the one that looks like a 30s detached house?

Yes that's the one, opposite the Blackbird. They've got a downstairs and upstairs all with tv screens showing the sport- it's always a good atmosphere in there and staff are sound. Think it's quite popular for football socials and stuff (never seen anyone being complete bellends in there though).

Near my childhood home.

Before its increase in reputation for the food, it had an appalling crowd hanging around it.

yeah I can imagine! Think the Broadway was similar. I'm going to the Little Club on Friday so will report back after. Haven't been for a year, but have always thought it was top notch.

What about the legendary Akash on London road?

Blacksmiths arms in barrow and hunting lodge are both around £32 i think for 3 courses. Both regarded as "good" - prefer hunting lodge though, ate Blacksmiths arms for Sunday roast last weekend and it was really disappointing.
