RUDZY Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Funny how this subject has just come to light when i've been scouring the web to find a pay per view website to watch LEICESTER CITY FC. (not interested in streams) The fabulous attacking play by the Foxes prompted me to conduct this search. Couple of Beers - Say no more. Is this a runner or will it fail at the start?

Nudge nudge, wink wink.
Monk Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 I think it's inevitable the way online demand is going. The interesting thing will be how they price it. I think you'll see on demand sports like this taking off loads in the next few years, and I reckon they'll be some new players in the market too. I suppose it could affect attendances though so people may have mixed views. Living in scotland I would happily pay for a 'tv season ticket' given how few games I can get to, been saying it for years - take my money!
DeclanMC Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 This would be brilliant, but if it goes ahead they need to up their payments to clubs in League 1/ League 2 to compensate them for loss of attendance. Every game live has to be the future and they just need to find a way to make it work.

Last thing i paid for was FROCH & GROVES for about £15

Dan Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 I don't mind this if the kick-off times don't get any more ridiculous (which they will) and the prices come down (which they won't).

MIAMI_FOX Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Very lucky here in the USA that NBC won the rights this season to show EVERY game live on tv or also on iPads etc It's fantastic and the nearest I get to having a City season ticket.

Now that'd be brilliant
The Railway Man Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Bound to happen, pretty much every other sport this happens now so football will go that way eventually. Barely anyone will be watching games in stadiums in 20 years.
marbles Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 How much are you paying for the package? Not really a package Some games are on NBC - which is free over the air broadcast TV The rest are on the NBS Sports channels - which I believe come as part of every sports package with cable/satellite. If you have one of the providers who carry the channels, you can also stream the games through NBC's site to your computer or tablet
ScouseFox Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 if someone had the rights to show every game live they'd want to make sure there was very few clashes, so they'd be able to get a full audience for every game. so we'd have 11am sundays, 6pm Mondays, 8pm saturdays etc etc like they do in Spain and italy. be dreadful.
deejdeej Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Not for me. Lower attendances and they'd probably show one game at a time over the weekend. Unfortunately there's so many armchair fans in the country it'd work for sky.

marbles Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 It isn't available in the UK,something about territories I guess the trade off is that people in the US cannot subscribe to SKY TV
MIAMI_FOX Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 I guess the trade off is that people in the US cannot subscribe to SKY TV That's incorrect. I subscribe to viewtvabroad.com to be able to watch all UK tv and it includes SKY tv through SKY GO. I use my parents log in details as they live in the UK.
Nick Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 I'd pay 600 notes a year to watch all the Leicester games, that'd be a bargain really when you think about away games and travel costs thrown in. I'd want to know the club got 50% of the revenue but that might be a bit idealistic? I would be interested in the research actually as whilst there would be many that might swap going to the ground for the comforts of their own home (cue plastic accusations ) I would also imagine that there would be many fairly affluent people who currently contribute nothing due to work commitments, ill health, geography, families that may well make up and possibly increase the numbers and cash flow - let's face it, people can stream the match now for nothing but I'd prefer to watch in HD and pay for the year without all the faffing!
Nick Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 The death of football if it ever happened. It's already happened hasn't it? The only issue will be if it's not on demand and they change the time of matches.
tomtom Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 But it wouldn't be Sky tv showing all the games, they'd be split over 3 packages (Sky-BT-Virgin) so you'd have to shell out for all 3. and as someone has already pointed out the kick off times would change drastically! Hope this idea never happens myself
maxwelld_ Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Only way would be like America and have blackout zones . Ie leicester would be available to pay per view all over the uk apart from the east mids that way fans who don't travel can watch it and fans that can travel need to make the effort and goto the game .
C-man Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Are people seriously interested in watching games on TV that have empty stadiums and zero atmosphere? What kind of product is that?
