Paul Gallagher interview in The Sunday Times

Unfortunately I can't post a link to this as the ST online is behind a paywall, and I can't scan the article as it is too long, but there is an interesting interview with Paul Gallagher in today's Sports section, in advance of Preston's cup match with Man U. At least half of the article talks about how much he likes and respects Pearson, and how he thinks a lot of last weekend's coverage was "not amusing, but saddening". One quote gives the tone of what he says: "What happened didn't look good, but I know how he is and who he is. He's a very nice guy, he can look very hard-faced, but he's one of the nicest people you can meet. In my personal life, I had a lot of trouble but he looked after me really well."

He goes on to explain how kind Pearson was when his wife gave birth to premature twins, one of whom was stillborn, and how Pearson told him to take as much time as he needed to took after his wife, and the club gave him the rest of the season off on compassionate grounds. The surviving twin is apparently fine now and they've had another son who is now one: ("Nigel always stays in touch. Always asking about the wife and family").

Gallagher also said that when his wife was walking the Great Wall of China in aid of the Meningitis Trust (Gallagher's brother died of meningitis when he was seven), he asked City's owners if they would sponsor her, and they wrote out a cheque for £20,000 on the spot.

Well worth reading.

I've never minded Gallagher.

OK he was a luxury player and had too long a contract on too much money but that wasn't his fault. Quite often he gets chucked into the same group as Beckford , Danns and Mills which is unfair.

He scored some cracking goals for us.

I knew about some of this but I think it's a credit to Gally that he publicly backs Pearson despite not being in his plans.

Like him or not, it's very easy to forget there's a human being and an untold story behind how every player and their performances we see on the pitch. I hope he carries on putting in good displays for Grayson as it seems like he's finally found a perfect fit. Good luck Gally.

I read the article this morning in the Times.

You can understand now why the Players respect Pearson so much.

You could see that demonstrated superbly in the match against Arsenal last week.

Let's hope we can get a win today to kickstart a run in the league.

Remember a Bruno Berner article talking about how good Pearson was at managing the players as a person, not just an asset (or not) of a results driven business... And his impact all around the club from cleaner upwards, not just playing staff (he insinuated Sven wasn't too)

Anyway, c'mon Gally, hope you can knock Utd out

Well this interview shatters a lot of misconceptions about Gallagher being a money grabbing, self-centred twat and Pearson being too arrogant to care about his players. We've heard plenty about how much respect the players have for Pearson, it's beginning to become clear why he hasn't lost the dressing room.

One of the most unbelievable things I've seen, it's not as if it wasn't very public and nobody knew

Bunch of twats sums up half of Leicester fans pretty well
