VLC86 Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 No alcohol for the fans before England/Wales it seems (well apart from in the fan zone) From BBC: French authorities are to impose a 24-hour alcohol ban in the city of Lens for the Euro 2016 meeting of England and Wales. The ban will start on 06:00 BST the day, but will not apply to the 10,000 capacity fan zone. . Why pick on England and Wales - not the only potential trouble makers... Wow , that's atrocious. Fan zone could get busy.

The BBC link I've said says all games in Lens will be treated the sams
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 May 2016 Author Posted 24 May 2016 I certainly do have tickets for the game! Problem is I'm off to the Germany Poland game in Saint Denis later that day, so need a fairly quick getaway! I think a lot of fans are heading into Lille from Paris on the day of the game anyway. Must be the quickest way Yes mate iv got them. Still waiting for my England Fans ones though but should have them in the next few days.Mine arrived 8 days ago!
Dodgy Bob Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 That alcohol ban is outrageous. Stinks of some politician or police chief with a stake in the fan zone trying to line their own pockets at the expense of local businesses. I hope everyone boycotts the fan zone.
m4DD0gg Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Alcohol ban won't work. Boot leggers will be in their element
Samilktray Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Why does it say you'll need tickets to the fan zones? Asking for friends who are travelling over
Super_horns Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 The BBC link I've said says all games in Lens will be treated the sams Yes - saw that. Fair enough I guess although you might ask why they put such a big game in a small town (could have swapped maybe?)
AjcW Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Mad isn't it?! I've only had to use the UEFA portal once for the Italy Quarter Final the day after we'd qualified for it As it was in Kiev demand wasn't that high so was dead easy to get Always wonder about these queues. I joined the Anthony Joshua vs Martin queue 5 mins before opening and got tickets over people in there for two hours. At the time thought it might have been because I used an O2 number
ousefox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 That is ridiculous haha. Unbelievable. Glad I'm not going there.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 Hoping many English people in fanzone in Paris for Wales game
The Blur Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 There's a south of France resident on here isn't there? Trying to work out how much I'm likely to spend in 16 days. Food, drink, metro, museums etc. I was in Lyon for a week last year and it seemed quite pricey - don't know different the rest of the region is? I believe you are thinking of FIF, he does not post much anymore though.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 May 2016 Author Posted 24 May 2016 So since the original 'source' I saw about the alcohol ban in Lens (it was on the Wales v England Facebook page) the blokes had clarification by Welsh police intelligence unit. Booze will only be banned from public places- restaurants bars and the fanzone will all serve alcohol. That matches up with a bloke on the England forum who lives in France who said this; I have looked on French press, both national & regional. Nothing confirming this as it stands. My understanding is that French authorities will simply ban supporters from drinking on streets or in parks (which is illegal anyway). Bars, restaurants and fanzone will be allowed to serve alcohol. The aim is to keep as many ticketless fans away from Lens as possible. If this new info is true I can't imagine the media changing their stories as it seems way less dramatic
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 May 2016 Author Posted 24 May 2016 Why does it say you'll need tickets to the fan zones? Asking for friends who are travelling over Bit odd that really isn't it?! Surely that rule can't be implemented
The Year Of The Fox Posted 24 May 2016 Author Posted 24 May 2016 Yes - saw that. Fair enough I guess although you might ask why they put such a big game in a small town (could have swapped maybe?) I guess it's convenient being so close to home. You'd imagine the majority will be day trippers or staying for one night only because of the convenience

VLC86 Posted 24 May 2016 Posted 24 May 2016 I think a lot of fans are heading into Lille from Paris on the day of the game anyway. Must be the quickest way Mine arrived 8 days ago! Yeah I rang them and basically if you bought them direct through UEFA with England fans reference you got them last week, as I bought them by calling England fans UEFA posted them all to Wembley and then they redistributed them.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 25 May 2016 Author Posted 25 May 2016 Ah yeh, I saw that last week actually
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 May 2016 Author Posted 26 May 2016 http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10294513/no-alcohol-ban-for-england-wales-clash-at-euro-2016-in-lens

The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 May 2016 Author Posted 26 May 2016 No it never was an alcohol ban. People just not reading the reports properly
AndWhat? Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 Are you allowed to take your own booze into the fan parks?
VLC86 Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 Are you allowed to take your own booze into the fan parks? I wouldn't have thought so mate, I'm sure in Ukraine they had bag checks.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 May 2016 Author Posted 26 May 2016 Are you allowed to take your own booze into the fan parks? No virtually nothing is being allowed to be brought into the fans park. Heineken all round unfortunately
AndWhat? Posted 26 May 2016 Posted 26 May 2016 No virtually nothing is being allowed to be brought into the fans park. Heineken all round unfortunately At 8 euros a pop I'm guessing as well! **** that then
