Austrian journalist looking for helpful foxes fans

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I am Karoline and am kind of hijacking this forum for a work related research.

I work as a tv reporter for the Austrian television ORF and am (rather desperately) looking for fans to talk about their greatest LCFC moments on camera.

Not only is it pretty tricky to coordinate an interview from another country with people you have not yet met but to organize this for the next day - here's a challenge.

So - here's where you come in...

I am hoping that some of you can help me out?

If you're reading my somewhat desperate plea and find yourself with a little time on your hands tomorrow afternoon and in Leicester then you could quite possibly save my life by sending me an email to [email protected]

It would be really great if this worked and I can promise you will have found a newbie foxes fan on the way.

Thanks in advance, Karoline

It has been news for quite some time and now we're (trying) to rise to the challenge and show/tell Austria about the phenomenon that is LCFC...

For the feature piece we're doing we'll interview the club's historian as well as you guys - if possible.

So if you have any pointers on what makes LCFC so special/things you might want to communicate/moments you could watch over and over again/those you wouldn't want to relive...

I am glad for any support - you are the specialists!

Austria will be glad for any support :-)

Why do you think it is that Fuchs has become a favourite among fans?

He is just incredibly likeable! A great presence to have in the squad it seems, and a leader. Plus he is a CLASS player, it's amazing Schalke let him go, but he has become integral to us.

He comes across as being a true professional and clearly loves the game.

Added to that, he is a real character and a genuine 'team player'

Apart from his performances on the field, he seems to have a great leadership off it. Seems a good, level headed and confident man. A professional and a leader. The type of personality which will be crucial in the next few months.

I'm not around tomorrow but good luck with your interviews

If you are looking to do something different rather than the usual (bottom last year, top this year), you should do a piece about the fans and the noise they make. Leicester fans are noted as the loudest (home and away) in the league. Their support has been one of the main reasons for the improvement in form. When you are at the club, ask somebody to tell you about the clappers they give to fans at each game and about the "ultra" group called Union FS

I agree our home atmosphere is the best but really think we've been poor away, especially considering we have the best away record

thank you all of you already - you're making my day!

I've got another question for you: since I have now found very helpful (and as it seems extremely knowledgeable) fans to interview I am looking for a location.

If possible I would like to avoid the fanshop at the stadium as we will be filming there already and rather go to a pub that (in the best case) shows it's support in LCFC colors...

Does anybody know something?

Sir Robert Peels on match day is what your looking for.

do you think it would still make sense to go there tomorrow? Even if it's not match day?

Just as a backdrop?

I doubt it, I only go on match days when the atmosphere in there is electric. Its a proper English football supporters pub. If you don't go on match day I think you may be disappointed.

As for pubs near the stadium, try the Swan and Rushes, the Local Hero, Soar Point or the Counting House. But I don't think you'll find too much of Leicester colors on show there, in particular not on a non-matchday.

Good luck, though. When's the piece to be aired?

The Counting House has a Leicester flag above the bar despite being the 'away' pub. It's also a bit of a dive in there, probably because it is the 'away' pub.

And the service is so slllllllllloooooooow. If your stood in the wrong place you'll watch people walk straight up to the bar and get served while you've been waiting 15 minutes, someone needs to tell them serving zones are a crap idea for crap bar staff.
