ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I know its dodgy posting on another forums site. we as cardiff city fans want to get as many people as we can to sign this and any help would be massively massively appreciated Many thanks Please sign the petition below if you agree with the statement. WE ALSO MUST DEMAND NOT ONLY FOR OUR BLUEBIRD TO STAY(OUR FINAL IDENTITY), BUT IN FACT IT BE LARGER NEXT SEASON. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/bring-back-our-blue/ We, the undersigned, as Cardiff City fans and fans of football in general, believe that the colour blue is synonymous with the club, and has been since the club became known as "Cardiff City Football Club" back in 1908. We also insist our Bluebird to remain no matter what on our badge, in fact it should be larger. We are extremely grateful for the amount of work that Tan Sri Vincent Tan (VT), Datuk Chan Tien Ghee (TG) & their associates have done with Cardiff City FC (CCFC) since they arrived back on 27th May 2010 & their efforts thus far, to guide the club to the Premier League, but we feel that the changes to "rebrand" the club is a step too far. In May 2012, plans were announced by TG to totally rebrand CCFC and strip the club of its traditional blue shirt to a red shirt with black trim. A change was also made to the club crest and the "dominant" symbol of the club became the dragon. In return for this, VT promised an injection of large sums of cash to put the club on a sound financial footing and to make a real effort for promotion to the Premier League. The club's Malaysian investors believed red to be a more dynamic colour for marketing in Asia, as well as of more national significance in Wales. it is vital to point out that none of this was planned with any fan consultation at any point. CCFC had played in blue since 1908. We won the FA Cup and competed in the top flight in those colours, we are the Bluebirds. A huge part of our identity, history and tradition are bound up in the colours, badge and nickname of the club. We feel that football ownership isn't a business like any other. Dealing with people's hopes, dreams & tradition. 100 years of history & club tradition shouldn't be easily disregarded in order to gain riches or success. We the undersigned, ask that the colour blue is returned as the clubs primary colour. We feel that the red shirt should be reserved for the away kit, to enable the club to use the shirt to promote the club in Asian markets, which the owners feel is vital for the club's growth. We also ask that if the club do not wish to return to the original crest, that they consult with the fans to create a new crest to go forward with, incorporating the famous Bluebird. It must, however, be stressed that we DO NOT WISH to force VT, TG & their associates to leave/abandon the club. We would like to place, on record, our thanks for their contributions to the club and from saving CCFC from certain financial disaster.
Fox42 Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I've just got a gut instinct our Thai owners will be influenced by your change and would change something in our club. God hope not...
Adster Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Sorry to be a killjoy mate, but you'll never get it back, no amount of signatures will change that, no way.
ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Author Posted 18 December 2012 Mabye we can make an example of the repercussions then..
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Too little, too late? I remember when it was first muted and you had your chance to object en masse then. You didn't. You disregarded your history for a shot at The Premiership, it may well have worked but only time will tell. Would seem from what the Malaysian's said at the time that you can't have it both ways...
ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Author Posted 18 December 2012 Adster, well if this does **** all at least we can say we tried eh?
accessory Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 If Cardiff reach the top flight for the first time in 50+ years, few of your mob will give a flying one about the change in colours. But you'd better not bring blue shirts on Saturday!
foxile5 Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I've just got a gut instinct our Thai owners will be influenced by your change and would change something in our club. God hope not... What a strange thing to be concerned about. They've been in power more than long enough to implement something like that.....and haven't. If memory serves didn't they also retain the services of Birch, as part of Leicester's identity? Also, why the **** would Thai owners of an English football club be influenced by the decisions of a Malay owned Welsh club? A point furthered by the open derision of press and fans alike at the change.... May as well start worrying about Friday being the end of the world, whilst you're at it.
ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Author Posted 18 December 2012 You would be suprised how many fans have actually stoped going full stop because of the rebrand, it has knocked 2-3 thousand off our attendances
Dan Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 When I find where I can sign it I will, big sympathy with the genuine Cardiff fans and sadly what I feared is happening - Cardiff winning the league and all of a sudden for the majority, there's no longer a problem because the team is doing well. Any Cardiff 'fan' who owns a red shirt is a disgrace to 'their' club. What's happened is nothing short of shocking, it worries me incredibly that your fanbase seems to have almost accepted it. EDIT; Found it and signed it, added similar comments to above.
Kitchandro Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 You would be suprised how many fans have actually stoped going full stop because of the rebrand, it has knocked 2-3 thousand off our attendances I debate whether that's the reason, most club's attendances have dropped significantly over the last couple of years, ours included. Besides, according to this it's about a thousand: http://www.football-...4~177948,00.pdf http://soccernet.esp...ionship?cc=5739 I've not got much sympathy with you lot on the whole. There are individual fans such as yourself I'm sure who have boycotted and really want to campaign, I feel sorry for them. But there are thousands more who not only go along with it with indifference, but also buy the shirts. There's a decent number of red shirts in your crowds from what I've seen. I was very surprised how easily it happened and aside from a few moans there hasn't been enough resistance, if you're honest with yourselves. You've made your bed, the bright lights of the Premiership are alluring and it seems they are more important than fans identifying with their club. It's not up to us or any other group of fans to fight your battles, you need to earn your shirts back. It's time to stand up and be counted (or not counted if you like). If 20,000 out of 21,000 don't care, well, that says it all. I wish fans like you good luck for the benefit of football, but I'm afraid you've got to make it happen yourselves as a fanbase. It will probably take more than a petition. Maybe true football fans are just very thin on the ground these days.....
Dan Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I've just got a gut instinct our Thai owners will be influenced by your change and would change something in our club. God hope not... These were my thoughts when it happened, in terms of ownership we're probably more similar to Cardiff than anyone else. But I doubt it. I'd like to hope if anything along the lines did happen, that the fans collectively opposed it.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I hope your club rots to be ****ing honest. Tad harsh. We are all football fans at the end of the day, regardless of the team.
pSinatra Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 In the same way that money can't buy class.........money can't buy a club's soul. Just look at Chelsea!! I can't quite believe I'm saying this. I would support any supporter in your position.......Forest, Derby, Cardiff or anyone. signed
z-layrex Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Tad harsh. We are all football fans at the end of the day, regardless of the team. I would agree for anyone but Cardiff. Hate everything about that club.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Ill sign it later. Can't say i like Cardiff at all, especially after the playoffs, but i sympathise enormously with whats happened at your club
J.Lisemore Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Not keen on Cardiff but will definately sign the petition. By the way if this happened to us, I wouldn't go to a Leicester game again.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Not keen on Cardiff but will definately sign the petition. By the way if this happened to us, I wouldn't go to a Leicester game again. Same here. And itd be easy for me to do too. Id have no allegiance to the club i don't know if many of our fans would take it lying down, we're just lucky not to have been faced woth this
J.Lisemore Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Same here. And itd be easy for me to do too. Id have no allegiance to the club i don't know if many of our fans would take it lying down, we're just lucky not to have been faced woth this The problem is, I could see most of our fans just accepting it and moving on with the 'start of a new era' bullsh*t. Maybe a little gathering of about 50 people (with flasks of course) out the KP. It'll be on the back of the Mercury with people saying how wrong it is, and within a couple of weeks...it'd all die down.
jonthefox Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 I'll sign. If we were in that position, i'd want other people to take notice.
ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Author Posted 18 December 2012 Well over the last 3/4 years we have developed abit of a plastic fanbase and they all buy the shirts and say so what and the core supporters well quite a few just don't go anymore, we still have good numbers but the plastics do my head in you see them walking round and just ask yourself how they could find the nerve to buy that shirt and make cardiff city fans look right mugs Anyway Massive thanks on behalf of the cardiff city fans
ccfcritchie Posted 18 December 2012 Author Posted 18 December 2012 I would agree for anyone but Cardiff. Hate everything about that club. What do you hate about cardiff?
Mack Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 hahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaha How much bigger do you want it? 1mm? 2mm? Consensus at the time of the change from your fans was 'Dont like it but we need the money so hey ho' Are you giving all that dosh back?
AnotherShitSeason Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Maybe true football fans are just very thin on the ground these days..... This. We've been replace by legions of families & jester hat wearing whoppers. I'm mad enough to smash my tartan flask. #AMF
