davieG Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Merc Leicester City have lined up a dozen transfer targets and are close to completing several of those deals, says football director Andrew Neville. He added that it had been a long process of identifying targets and launching preliminary negotiations with clubs and players. Andrew Neville But he is confident some of the deals can be completed in the next 10 days. City have yet to add to their squad this summer but Neville said some deals were close. Although Neville would not discuss targets, the Mercury understands City are in talks with free agent David Nugent and have targeted Huddersfield right-back Lee Peltier and Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. Striker Matt Derbyshire is also under consideration, and there have been attempts to bring back last season's loanees Ben Mee, Kyle Naughton, Patrick Van Aanholt and Miguel Vitor. City have also been linked with a host of other names. The latest is Leeds United goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who has reportedly been the subject of a £1.5 million bid from City, according to a national newspaper yesterday. There has been some frustration among City fans at the lack of signings so far. But Neville said he was confident some of the new arrivals would come in before the players report back for pre-season training at the start of next month. "We have homed in on about a dozen targets at the moment," said Neville. "We won't get them all but, hopefully, we will get a number of them in the next few weeks. "We have done a lot of work in the last two weeks to get where we are at the moment and we are quite close on a number of acquisitions. "We would like to do those before the end of this month, because we see pre-season to be a critical time. If you get pre-season right, normally the season will go well. "To get it right, ideally, we would like the players in the building by the first week in July."

MC Prussian Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Cue the Impatient Bunch and their "We haven't signed anyone yet!!!" outcry.
NewquayFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 It will all fall into place, just wait and see... In Sven we trust....
cc_star Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 A lot of chatter from a few agents I follow on Twitter suggests that transfer activity in general will massively ramp up this week as most of them & the players returned from holiday. Kasper is a good shout as are the loanees & the other names mentioned
Bausor Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 So a dozen would be surly all transfers done then even if we dont get all but a good load of them
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Cue the Impatient Bunch and their "We haven't signed anyone yet!!!" outcry. I hope they save that for the other 20 threads dedicated to that outcry
RumbleFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Wow, just posted this on the transfers thread and it got locked because apparently this thread was already in existence. I foolishly assumed a post about transfers should go on the transfer forum? What an absolute wobble jockey I am! Sorry, no need for sarcasm this is just great news and I hope it shuts up the impatient brigade. I love you Sven and I want to rub myself on your bald head. X
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 No midfielders Only mentions nine players and it states a dozen players are targets.

X The Transfer forum was originally set up for topics about specific players linked to us anything else is LCFC discussion this was so that if you wanted to avoid speculation and where only interested in completed transfers or general discussions about transfer you could stick to viewing the LCFC forum. That said I think us modes have just got worn down and fed up trying to maintain that and of course whatever decision we make or try to stick to someone will moan. As for me I'm sticking to the original concept and for me this is LCFC discussion that happens to be about transfers. PS I take your comments in the spirit it was posted
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 No mention of the yak then Neville isn't actually quoted as saying any names, pure speculation from the journalist who the names are.
1994fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Just found it stange he wasnt mentioned with the other loanees

PS I take your comments in the spirit it was posted Aye, I concur to be honest, I just like to be a little twottish at times. Thanks for the explanation though and who cares where it's posted as long as we sign the following twelve payers!!!!!: Three ex England internationals. One 12 year old Swedish player. The regenerated To Madeira. What we believe to be Mike Duffy regenerated but aren't quite sure as it might be that one with similar looking stats but is rubbish. Oh God it's him isn't it? Maxim Tsigalko Some guy from he conference with awful stats apart from 19 at Jumping and 20 at Finishing. The player you have edited and given your own name and an unlimited potential. Two rubbish players who's names you just find amusing. And of course one player who you looked at and thought was good but then once you signed him you realised that you had him two seasons ago and released him on a free after fining him for no reason because he was rubbish and you start to absolutely hate yourself and the constant merry-go-round of players that you bring in and out every season and the fact that whilst people are out living their lives you are inside at the age of 30 playing a football management game made 10 years ago and you are pale and pathetic and no one appreciates your encyclopedic knowledge of the CM0102 database and that the world would not miss you. Oh God I hate myself. If you exist God (and we know that you don't) just kill me. Kill me now. Wow, I'm an arse. Rumble X

ithuriel Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Basically an article saying nothing much at all, we are hoping to sign some players in the next ten days
Corky Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Cue the Impatient Bunch and their "We haven't signed anyone yet!!!" outcry. Before the Difficult To Please bunch come in with their "But he's not good enough!!" cry when signings are made.
Madrid_Fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The club needed a statement like that, maybe in a week we will hear a load of 'we couldnt agree terms' or 'their clubs were asking for too much money' excuses
MC Prussian Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Before the Difficult To Please bunch come in with their "But he's not good enough!!" cry when signings are made. Followed by the Told You So Alliance - people who always know that some players will be crap before they've even signed for us.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 So a dozen would be surly all transfers done then even if we dont get all but a good load of them I don't want any surly transfers.
sphericalfox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Followed by the Told You So Alliance - people who always know that some players will be crap before they've even signed for us. I thought the I Told You So Alliance only made public statement's regarding managers. They've not gone expanded onto players that haven't yet signed for us have they?
