  1. Fraud of a man is a bit unfair. Fraud of a manager, maybe.

  3. Why can't you trust an atom? Because they make up everything.
  4. I think it's streamable (that's not a real word btw so therefore isn't a thing) but why risk it for the inevitable embarrassing shafting?

  6. Thanks for your measured response. I apologise for making the assumption I did. I can't take a view on either of the cases you refer to. I based my reply on my experience with our daughter who has a chronic MH illness where for her, PIP is a vital support allowance. She can't work and probably never will. She needs help with shopping, bills and generally managing her money. She hardly goes out and is pretty much isolated. When she has to attend appointments she has to get a taxi from the village where she lives to Loughborough as the only bus goes to Leicester, which she can't cope with as crowds terrify her. Her life is shambolic and chaotic. Her independence is dependent on PIP. IMO she is one of the many thousands of people that will suffer if PIP is taken from her. She is already increasingly anxious about any re-assessment she will have to undergo as after the last one she had PIP taken from her which was subsequently reinstated on appeal but that was a very stressful and uncertain time for her. I fear that the next re-assessment will result in the same and that has potential to send her into a downward spiral again. The Gov seem quite willing to cause major anxiety for people who have very little and sometimes no support and are on the breadline or already living in poverty. There is little doubt that some people claim when they're not entitled but it costs more to apply means testing for benefits but in the case of PIP, which is essentially a mechanism to help those with chronic ill health, both mental and physical, the extensive form and questions a claimant has to complete is a test of qualification that has no comparison to procedures required for any other benefits that I'm aware of. More stringent than means testing.
  7. Thanks HPF. I would understand it more if the post had simply been removed but to effectively silence me by preventing me from making any other posts in the topic thread is odd. (I wouldn't have added to that post as there was nothing more to say). 15 years I've been posting and contributing on FT and never had as much a a strike against me.
  8. Thank you. Sincerely. Maybe my post was considered to be inappropriate by the mods, and it was pretty personal and possibly not suited to this forum tbf, but that doesn't mean that I was wrong, as the topic OP said "get something off your chest" regarding a deceased relative and that's what I did. It happened to me as it has happened to countless others and sadly continues. It's life, Jim, and it's life as I know it. Not what I expected it to be, but que sera, sera.
  9. His mock Beardsley is the stuff of comedy gold. There's lots of similar stuff on YouTube. It's well worth a look. Athletico Mince is the search term

  11. Seems I can no longer post on the "Dead Relative Questions" topic after I made an admittedly very personal post which has since been removed. But I have no explanation as to why. Unless a history of being abused by a parent is now taboo?
  12. Just to (hopefully) lighten things: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiXsoznhauMAxWhVkEAHVk3H7EQuAJ6BAgJEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tiktok.com%2F%40billyconnollyfans%2Fvideo%2F7084649279192567045&usg=AOvVaw0ASzMn-HObrBFBiHSKLEth&opi=89978449
  13. You really have no idea, do you? Do you know anyone who is entitled to it or is your comment another knee-jerk uninformed opinion? The second part of that sentence is EXACTLY what it is designed to do.
  14. A tad odd because just now, I almost put gin in Mrs Para's cup of tea and I actually put milk in my G&T (only a drop, before I realised)
  15. Yes it is.
  16. Also, we used to take part in joint emergency services exercises at EMA. They would set fire to a "fuselage" situated on the far side of the runway opposite the terminal. We were set to arrive at the same time as the fire crew. So, We'd rock up alongside the airport fire crews and police teams and then triage casualties after the fire crews had extinguished the fire. The heat, even from a distance, was intense. Watching the airport fire truck blasting foam onto the fuselage was amazing. After the fire was extinguished (it was full on blazing) the fire crews brought "casualties" to us and our job was to designate them into categories of dead, serious/life threatening, simple fractures/burns, walking wounded. The last time I was involved, I was designated as "officer in charge" for the ambulance crews and I had determine which casualties went where, account for each one, and direct the crews at the "scene". A very interesting experience.
  17. Seems mostly Ryanair and Jet2 holiday flights to Europe these days. Freight flights seem to take place at night. I seem to recall a plan to extend the runway in order to take larger aircraft.

  19. Having watched "No Other Land" just now on C4, it has intensified my dislike and distrust of Israel. Their attacks on the remote Palestinian villages even to the point of bulldozing them flat and even destroying bathrooms and toilets and leaving villagers and children with nothing, is beyond warfare and imo unforgivable. Surely there's war crimes being committed.
  20. I wonder where the 26 "special" bus was going. And IIRC, the building in the background behind the Briggs statue was some kind of exclusive members club for the rich and influential business folks, along the lines of gentleman's clubs in London at the time. Now I think's a pizza restaurant or something.
  21. In my career I've seen things no bloke should ever see
  22. Similarly the ripples on a double Bounty bar. And the smaller chunks are easier to get up yer arse.
  23. Have we really been playing and posting for 3 years? Jeez!
