doesn’t seem to be plymouth’s way. I actually for the first time all season… fancy us to win by 3 or 4. I think they will come at us and it’ll be exciting. But i think we will be back full of confidence after west brom

Championship top scorers.

it’s certainly unusual for the team in 1st, who have the best goal difference to not have a player in the top 10 -
if there’s any truth in the beraldo rumour, and we are looking ahead in that area… then surely the club should consider Ian Maatson? I believe Burnley and chelsea were talking around the 15-20m mark and even considered a loan if he would sign a new deal. He decided to push for a spot at chelsea, but despite a defensive crisis he’s not got near their team. He’s genuinely perfect for us for a few reasons. ✅ He’s young and has room for growth. One that a few solid seasons and his value only goes up. ✅ He knows this system. He was an essential part of this system at Burnley. ✅ he is incredibly versatile. A left sided ricardo… but also with the ability to play cb. ✅ he played as the inverted lb and switched later to the left of the back 3… did both very well. But also can play left wing when mavididi needs a bit of competition. ❌ Is he likely to drop down a division? Burnley would be in for him again, so can we compete? that’s the question… i’d argue we are a better career move ❌ chelsea are hard to deal with. Could push for 30m unjustifiably, i don’t think we can expect anything over 20m. Loan with an obligation on promotion would be the way for me. ❌ Loan deal might not look positive after Casadei ❌ ✅ Not sure if him turning down the move to burnley is a positive or a negative. I’m glad he backs himself but the right career move for him would surely have been to go to burnley. I don’t want another a fofana at the club Definitely one is want in the summer and if he’s not playing now, may as well try.

line up getting back to a good standard now 👍 -
well it’s all hypothetical, but to get 20m for the 4 would be realistic imo. And whilst i agree it’s unlikely the players would leave, if they have good deals on the table. But when you see the type of terms put on the table for lingard, would it be really unrealistic to think a side like forest would not give them what they want, as well as paying a small fee? Would they want that move.. that’s the question. But it’s not completely unrealistic. I think i’ve just moved into a place where i understand that financially we have to be astute and to lose 2 more big name players for nothing, is pretty risky. Especially if we end up missing out on promotion. Im not saying your take is wrong. But I think in a business like football, there’s always different paths that can work out. To me, getting someone hungry in , for the future, would be more desirable than holding onto someone who has no future. But it depends how risk averse you are. im happy either way.

if you read my previous post, i’m suggesting that we pool the money from a group of our sales. Its the same as questioning who’s going to replace him for free in the summer. We should able to get promotion without him and personally I think if he doesn’t want to sign a new deal then we move on. Tielemans put in some good displays before January as well, I just know how these things can go. If 10m can get you a Harry Winks then there’s business to be done.
-
well there’s 2 reasons, 1 is that he may drop off, which i think is very realistic as he was performing above his level in a role like that imo. The other is purely financial. if someone will pay 5 m for a player they can get for free in 6 months i feel like it’s worth it. There’s every chance that once he knows he’s leaving the effort level drops. I like to think it wouldn’t but we’ve seen it before. If the going gets tough and we start sliding you don’t really want to be relying on players with nothing to lose.

I really hope in the first few weeks we see the following out the door: Praet Daka nacho wilf It’s sad but if we can get any money for the last 2 i think we just take it and move on. I still get the feeling that whilst ndidi has proved us all wrong, he was still riding a wave of form. I think if we shifted him and could bring in a replacement it would be best for everyone. I wouldn’t be surprised to see bids for both our nigerians from forest as they slowly get drawn back into a relegation battle. I’ll be sad to see nacho go. But this was his first real chance to put his stamp on things and he’s just not done it. Always better off from the bench, which i guess tells a story. if we could get 20m for the lot that would be good business at this point and big wages off the books. replace them with 2 10 m players on lower wages and we’d likely be improved. A lot will come down to whether cannon steps up but if he handles himself well. Then why not just get a proper #10, a striker suited to the system and a promising player on loan. that would be enough for the squad to get us over the line imo
-
he has decent technical ability and tried hard. But overall he never looked to have the physical attributes needed to play at the top level. Hope he has a good career but sort of agree that top end of league 1 feels like where he will end up. when you compare him to manning, giles or davies, as a small sample of very good fbs in the championship in recent times… you can see he’s nowhere near that level. And the other more crappy fbs in this league are at least brutes. So if he won’t fit in with the top sides and isn’t physical enough for a rotherham or a millwall then that only leaves dropping another level imo it tells a story in itself that i’ve not seen a single poster complain we let him go when doyle got injured… not a sausage about him and he’s playing in the prem
-
both our strikers are better coming off the bench. we really need to get cannon up to speed or just give daka a few games. There’s nothing to lose at the moment
-
we’ve had a few years of players being a transfer away in their mind from the moment they arrive. You can tell winks is just enjoying it. He’s not having a good spell and instantly thinking he should play for chelsea. Top, top lad
-
there’s an in between though. I’m not saying lump it. I’m saying don’t try to split 2 strikers, with a narrow ball to winks while he also has a player on his back. He just takes unnecessary risks imo and whilst he’s good with his feet, he’s far from perfect and those stray balls happen far too often in such a crucial area. Id say faes is a very good example of what to do. He will try things in the right moments but also knows when it’s too risky he will seek an alternative
-
I know it’s not the cool thing to do, but at what point do we start to question his kicking? The decision making has been shocking and i think it would be a much bigger thing if some had been burried. But i’m really struggling to see how the positives of these risky passes out weighs the negatives? I can’t think of too many chances they have led to, compared to how many big chances have been given away. He’s a great keeper, i just wish we’d say …play the open balls, support the play. but if it’s 50-50… don’t risk it.

Rubbish. Watch and analyse the game properly and stop writing headlines like that which you know makes fans pile on with negativity. Play like that and we’ll be absolutely fine. Created numerous brilliant chances and win comfortably on another day- 101 replies

Can’t believe this lad thought he was too good for the championship. Danny Drinkwater levels of delusion.
-
I feel like he’s the opposite of barnes. His end product will likely never be good enough for the top level. Decent enough for the championship but when you get half as many attacking opportunities in the prem, he won’t get away with being that wasteful. The only players in the squad i wouldn’t be upgrading would be : Hermansen, faes, ricardo, winks, KDH, Fatawu. we will have a big job on our hands when we go up. fwiw i’ve not made a proper judgement on yunus yet, i think he will turn out to be good enough
-
I think thats 100% right, its really not an out and out striker thats going to work. We need a hybrid type player. Someone like Bowen. Which is why if we were to get promoted, i wouldnt be surprised to see us going back in for Nico Gonzalez. Thats the type of player that will eventually be the striker template for us, a false 9, who is just as comfortable creating as they are getting on the end of things
-
There simply has to be more balance. When it’s not working, adapt. I’m fine with having this as a game plan, I don’t hate it like a lot of people do, but it drives me barmy to continue with it in games that it’s either not needed or not working. pop us in a 4231 against the side in bottom and they don’t get out their half. the slow and patient build up will always invite sides to have a go. but is that necessarily what’s needed in a game like this? There’s been 4/5 in particular where it’s just not needed the patience.
-
Sounds like vardy isn’t effecting the game again. I’m really starting to believe neither him or nacho are suited to this system
-
Mavididi? Didn’t he create the goal? Im just listening so not sure but it didn’t sound like he was having a bad game?
