my guess would be that’s it’s financial. The ripples of covid are still being felt and obviously the relegation would put another dent in our finances. Also the possibility that we are watching everton as their stadium was part of the reason they fell short on ffp. If it’s genuinely just a case of being worried we won’t be in the prem, then it’s going to be tricky because it will take years to comfortably establish ourselves again. So if the only way it’s affordable is continuous involvement in the top flight for the next 15 or so years… then i’d be sceptical to move forward with it. It needs to be financed by the owners with a willingness to cover any deficit should we have a period outside the top flight. It’s got to be a long term investment and we have to ride the waves that come with the long term in football.

Development/Youth Squads 2023/2024 Thread - U18/U21

2-1 win Briggs and Thomas with our goals after being 1 down -
if that’s the attitude then the whole thing should be shelved then. Because what are we going to do if we are battling relegation next year, or the year after that. It’s a gamble but taking longer isn’t going to help reduce that, as we quite clearly just fell from the most stable position the clubs ever been in.

The job Michel has done at Girona is sensation. Promoted via play-offs, expected to be relegated but pushed towards european places and now this. Last season they were only out scores by the big 3 in the league and it was just the back end that needed sorting out. which they appear to have done. Let’s hope Maresca takes us on a similar journey

You know Nixon is a terrible journalist because asked about any club he always pretends to know something. You can’t know everything about everyone pal! Just talks to stay relevant but his hit record is poor even for a tabloid journalist

No, it’s essentially agreeing the sale in advance. These deals are always in favour of the buying club. Essentially it happens when a club is really trying to sell and takes what they can get at the time… its very odd with fatawu but i guess the selling club lost hope. Basically they would have been happy to sell for €17m but this way they also get the loan fee… which on a player with those numbers… you’d imagine was 2/3m on its own. but either way £16/17m is top business Yunus has a clause that if he plays a certain ammount of games it’s automatically triggered

the decision to let kasper go was still the right one imo. We just didn’t replace him and that’s what killed us. (i still stand by my belief that we wouldn’t have been relegated if iversen played every game)
-
it’s the energy we’ve lacked up top all season. Play Daka until he leaves imo
-
we were all game but because we didn’t score many in the first half people were still throwing tantrums
-
I feel like some of you can’t be pleased. There’s been calls for us to be more urgent getting forward, today we have been. Very much so. But the same people still aren’t happy.

this thread reads like we’ve all been watching different games 😂

I think Daka has surprisingly taken to this role well. Sucked players into him whilst moving away from the box on 2/3 occasions that’s created openings for us. Must be frustrating for a striker that it’s such a big pet of this role but he’s been creating space for others Primarily because he seems to be a bit more enthusiastic about the runs. He sprints back to get the ball from a defender rather than meandering like nacho often does. Makes a big difference as the cbs are more instinctively chasing someone moving with urgency

Foxes Hub – The Place To Watch Leicester City Live!
Lambert09 replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
very glitchy for me today and the sound doesn’t seem to be in sync again at least i can watch it though -
a bit worried about cannon seeing as everton asked for more cash for simms 🫣

i like the idea that if Birmingham lose every game, vardy could score to get rooney the sack

Genuinely think this competition is the best thing to happen to football in years. Finally a tournament that is just about letting fans from smaller teams get to experience wild away days, whilst also having a fair crack at winning something without you the usual money clubs dominating. It’s great that a team like west ham got to win it.

It would not be hard to have set punishments laid out, it really wouldn’t. Break ffp by x percent 10 points break it by x percent 15 points etc etc I don’t particularly care for the premier league right now, it’s soulless. But i will always want my team to do as well as they can. If the premier league disappeared and this was now the top league, i’d be well happy. But that’s not the case, so i want us to go as far as we can. Doesn’t mean i won’t be fuming when the powers that be get together to change the rules again to suit a few preferable teams. If you don’t see the corruption in that league than i’m happy for you. But as nige would say, you’re an ostrich
-
they’re not wrong though. The league is completely corrupt. Yes they cheated, yes they deserve to be punished. But the league should have black and white punishments for breaking these rules written down. It’s not fair to decide on a whim, taking into consideration how bad the league is and the club they are targeting. If everton were sat in last place… they wouldn’t have deducted 10 points.. they chose something that might make the relegation fight a little more interesting. The league seriously needs to throw the book at Man City and Chelsea now but we all know they won’t. But what’s predictable, is that in a season where chelsea and possibly even man city falter… that’s when the league will think, quick let’s give them a points deduction… because they know it won’t effect much. If the hearing happens and both sides are outside the top 4… then they will rush to do it so it doesn’t actually change much. (unless an unfavourable side is in the champions league)

Ben Nelson signs new contract until 2027

signing a deal until he is 24, we must be very confident that he will make it. I’m sure he must have a decent deal on the table as well -

That’s a deal so we can get him out on loan. Someone like oxford would be perfect for him (if they still play nice football post the manager exit) -
I guess it’s open to interpretation. Personally, I think it’s down to a lack of end product, or youthful rashness. I think we do try to get the ball out to the wingers to create the space, they are clearly the focal point of the team rather than the striker. But you could argue that mavididi should have doubled his output… if not more. And Fatawu has been brilliant but his numbers don’t back that up yet. There will always be off days, but mostly i’d say the wingers have created enough to win games… we just haven’t been clinical enough. There will be a day when everything goes in and we get 5/6 this season, i’m sure of it. But i’m one of those that always appreciated barnes and realised that it’s rare you get a wide player with his ability to finish. it was a near impossible replacement situation, no matter what div
-
on the whole, i’m not sure i agree. Maybe in the last match there were moments when they’ve chosen to keep the ball but overall they’ve been given license to attack however they see fit. Maresca clearly targeted players who could take a man on and i don’t get the impression he’s unhappy when they do it. I’d say that’s even where Mcateer has improved most in his game. At first he was more focused on keeping the ball but Enzo got him confident and then we saw him going on a few runs, the first time he tried it, that i can remember was against hull and prior to that he wouldn’t have dreamt of running at a man
-
One thing that i’ve not quite understood, is why we don’t switch the sides of the wingers mid-match. We’ve seen fatawu and mcateer and yunus on the left, they all looked comfortable. So it’s only mavididi that we haven’t given a go on the other side. I just think that after the first 30 mins the full backs start to know what to expect, so i don’t know why we aren’t then switching it up and giving them a different type of problem to deal with. Both mavididi and fatawu are a nightmare to deal with, but both play different styles. So I feel it would be really effective to keep the defenders guessing.

i can’t help but feel this kicking thing will go out of fashion when a statistician finally works out that more goals end up conceded from this than gets created. I just feel that 75% of what keepers try to do in these roles is pointless. It was telling that the watford captain said they had a game plan to target the keeper… which is mad when you have one as good as mads. But it looks very obvious to me that there will be chances because of what he’s instructed to do. Being good with your feet is always a big asset but that doesn’t mean you need to take extra risks.
