So Cooper persuaded Top to appoint him to lead a Premier League side last season, but Boro thinks Edwards is a better prospect than Cooper even after a dreadful time at Luton last year. Says much about the recruitment skills by those on our board.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wonder how many on here would have voted to keep Cooper on the Sunday morning before he was sacked (very few I would imagine). Appointing Cooper was a mistake, sacking him wasn't. It's just the appointment that followed was the bigger mistake.

Why can't we put RVN on gardening leave until 1st July. Speak to Rohl and get him to sign a contract now that starts from 1st July.

JR is still on holiday probably and unaware there is an early transfer window this year.

For every half decent thing he may do there's multiple things he gets wrong. The things he gets wrong are often the big decisions. 9 academy or former academy signings who are probably over the moon to develop at a Leicester City is hardly a coup.

The problem, as I see it, all those who are any good, we can't afford their wages, those we can afford are no better than what we have.

It's strange that those decent to outstanding players who have been successful managers are all non English. It makes you wonder is it an intelligence thing?

I believe the initial fee was between €6m and €8m, with add ons taking it to €13m. I can't see any of the add ons being activated, unless being called up to the Italian squad was one of them.

I'd have thought so long as we have the manager named and in post before the players report back for pre-season fitness work, then it's no detriment to how we are prepared whether the appointment is today or mid June. As others have said, if they are interested in Danny Rohl, I can see the logic of waiting until the compensation required is significantly reduced. Again whether he is the one and is appointed today or after 6th June has no impact on pre season, but could save several millions. I think they are hoping Ruud will walk, but why should he unless he has the opportunity of joining another club. It maybe that they can put him on gardening leave until July 1st. I really don't know legal angle on this. However, I have little faith that appointing the next manager will be a straight forward procedure.

Wherever pre season is, I hope they are much fitter than they were for the start of this season.

If Harry Winks stays and our manager ends up being RM, he'll end up being an asset in the Championship, just like he was in 23/24 season. No he's wasn't good enough this year in the system we adopted (well we had no system under Cooper), but he was one of our better performers under Enzo's leadership for the majority of the season.

I agree RVN was a shocking appointment. I do think the board would have still sacked Cooper as performances and results were poor (again, taking your point, that could be down to players not giving it their all)

Apart from a 3 - 0 defeat at Old Trafford. Cooper for me had no system and the points we picked up were more by luck, than deserved Spurs 1 -1 (h) - should have been out of sight before we scored Crystal Palace (a) 2 - 2 - Probably our best performance under Cooper and could have won. Everton (h) 1 -1 - a somewhat fortunate draw - could have gone either way Bournemouth (h) 1 - 0 - How we managed to win with one shot on target and Bournemouth totally outplaying us, is a mystery Southampton (a) 2 - 3 - Only started playing after Fatawu introduced and them down to 10 men Ipswich (a) 1 -1 Last minute goal after Ipswich were down to 10 men for a lengthy time All the defeats in between and afterwards were appalling. I can't think of many games where we were half decent. I'm not suggesting things got better with RVN, but I still think the outcome would have been the same had we retained Cooper. I do blame the board, not for sacking Cooper, but for appointing him in the first place.

I understand what you are saying, but I worked for a totally inept, uninspiring and useless boss. I was part of the Leadership team and would constantly question his decision making, but little changed. I know going to work and wanting to do my best was challenging working under such poor leadership. I think many of our experienced players saw just how poor our last 2 managers have been and have found it difficult to get motivated to play for them. Perhaps you would argue that the amount they are getting paid they should give it their all, but if you are demotivated and have no faith in the process, it's difficult.

I don't disagree with your argument, however, there were quite a few looking jaded towards the end of the season, KDH and Mavadidi in particular. Winks played most games in a 46 game season, along with many cup games, it's probably understandable he was getting tired (which may in fact add to your argument). I do agree players shouldn't rule the roost and they get paid silly amounts of money, but like I said this issue should have been discussed during contract talks.

Yes, I appreciate that. But I don't understand why he had to do it for one day. It's still the same distance every other day he's travelling, so he wouldn't be at his best on the other days. I'm sure many footballers travel similar distances. I travelled a 1.5hr journey too and from work for 34 years. It was only towards the latter years that I found it somewhat hard work. The club should have made it clear before signing him that it wasn't an option to travel such distances if they felt it would compromise his performances on matchdays. It didn't seem to be an issue under Maresca!
