Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
MGLCFC replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
This is true, but we never won by 2 clear goals either. Cooper was so far out of his depth, I feel we would have lost those 2 home games. I can't recall, either, Cooper not having a full midfield complement to call on, unlike today and having to play Ward. Hermanson and bad finishing is the only reason some teams haven't scored a hatful against us. I'm under no illusions that RVN will keep us up easily, but he's got more about him than Cooper and with the right backing in January, at least he'll have a fighting chance. -

You can go even lower with a poor manager and that's exactly what Cooper was and is. -
Remember when we went to Chelsea with a midfield of GTF and Dean Hammond (I think). They did ok, even though we lost.
-
His big problem now is to maintain this level of consistency. He needs to continue putting 8/10 performances regularly. However, it works both ways, if his performance drops off one week, then no doubt he'll get the old abuse, which is the last thing he needs. No player plays really well week in week out, but if the majority of his performances are like yesterday, I'll be extremely pleased and it will feel like we've made a new signing.

Yes, me too, but think his lack of defensive discipline may be a concern.

He's always had the potential, he's now showing it

I get there are two points to every argument and there are genuine reasons for some leaving early. But would you go to theatre or a film and leave before the last 10 minutes? I think this season more than any, players need the crowd behind them for the whole game. It must be disheartening seeing the stadium emptying when you are giving it your all. -

People who are saying there are still flaws with this team. Well of course there are. RVN won't change things in a week. I've seen enough to be convinced if he is backed in January, he can make us a mid table team. His understanding of the game is light years ahead of Cooper's.- 313 replies

Jesus, that's one hell of a long tournament

Thought Kristiansson had his best game for a long time last night. More solid defensively (not perfect, however) and was a good outlet and got forward well (and an assist, I suppose).

Unfortunately experience doesn't mean success. You'd class Cooper as experienced, but I've never seen our team so disjointed and lacking structure in the way we were set up. Enzo was a novice, yet Chelsea took a gamble and so far it looks to be working for them. Yes RVN is a gamble, but unless you throw the dice you may never win.
-
Be interesting to see how the players respond if it is RVN
-
Wouldn't mind us grinding out some 0 - 0

Could go either way. May turn out to be an inspired appointment.

If successful, I think Corberan would stick around longer than RVN. If RVN did well, I think he'd do an Enzo and jump ship. Perhaps Corberan would too, who knows. I think we have to accept if we get a manager who does well here, Leicester is just a stepping stone for them. I would like to see Corberan given a go, although I'd be happy with RVN.

RVN would be a gamble, might go the way of Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney. Great players, average managers. However, RVN does appear to have had some success in Holland. I just feel we'll lose out either way. He fails and we get relegated, he's successful and then poached by a bigger club and we have to start the whole process again.
-
Doesn't look any of the main contenders has the backing of the majority on here. I just hope that whoever we appoint, there's a realisation that it's unlikely to be an instant fix.
-
I suppose what I'm trying to say is I think he does hold them in high regard, for the level that they are at, but that level isn't Chelsea's. KDH barely makes the bench, let alone starts.
-
Let's be honest, how many deserved to be bought by Chelsea.
-
I can take losing games, it's the manner in which we've lost games that gave me little hope. Most teams performances have improved since game 1, I'd suggest ours has regressed. It's clear we need a manager who can get the players back on board, playing a style they believe in.

Hopefully BDCR is too jet lagged to make the squad

Smokey Robinson and his backing group.
