You make a good point about him being between a rock and a hard place. For some on here, he’ll be wrong no matter what he does. But they’re morons, who can’t see past their own prejudice. I suspect the overwhelming majority who want him out actually want him to be successful. It’s about the club, not an individual. But there are so few glimmers of hope. We put out the bulk of the back-up players last night and I, for one, totally subscribe to that. I would have gone further and rested JJ and Caleb. We can’t then expect those ressies to then go to OT and rip it up. But we can expect the manager to have them organised. I watched Saints frustrate the heck out of Man City the other day by being organised. I watched Sheff Wed then do the same to saints by being hyper-organised. Is it so hard to expect our squad to be capable of doing something similar? It’s the lack of basics that are stripping away hope and breeding frustration. Nobody with half a brain can expect more than lower-midtable this season. But, personally, I’m just not convinced he can get enough of a tune out of this squad to do that. 😞

Easily the best first half performance of the season. This is still a championship team that’s evolving into a premier league team. And they’ve just gone toe-toe with a solid PL team and looked the better bet. Yes, we need to cut out silly errors. Yes, we’ve got to manage Elanga’s threat. But in this system we look comfortable and at home. We might still lose. But surely this is the blueprint to survival? Oh, and Winks really, really didn’t like being dropped, did he! Been superb. 😊

This is a post one can only write pre-game ……. but I’m at home this evening having to watch on Sky. The interviews. The build-up. The silly mascot race. The excitement. A local rival in town. These are the nights you long for as a football fan. Whoever you support. I’ll moan like a bitch if we lose, but right now it feels absolutely fabulous being back in the EPL. Like we’ve never been away. Love it.
