A personal one, Steve Howard, someone sat near me gave him some stick, it was the vital relegation game v Sheff Weds, they criticised his movement and shouted “Howard, you’re not fit”. To my surprise he came over and told ME to **** off. I hadn’t done anything . The talk of “Why” (sign a right back) is Surprising, it was only 7 months ago. Ricardo was injured, Hamza was out on loan, there was no prospect of an academy player emerging in that position and Justin was gift wrapping a goal a game for the opposition. There are as yet undiscovered tribes in the Amazon rainforest and they know we needed a right back. Justin needed a break, for everyone’s sake including his own. Unlike Ward who requested removal from his situation after half a game, Justin just had to carry on like a lamb to the slaughter with every opposition game plan pinpointing his weaknesses. But “Why him”, is the right question, maybe he was “on file” from the previous season, it seems like Rudkin or whoever, was running out of time, options A-Z had said no or been unattainable within budget so like a kid playing football manager into the early hours with a desperate need for a RB or (to avoid the debate about his feet someone capable of playing right back) went for him. A professional who can play RB, is fit and whose confidence isn’t shot to pieces….he already sounds a better option than Justin. But then he played and I presume trained and at that point the idea of shaving Filbert and registering him seemed a more reasonable option. As it happens we barely used him and Justin carried on leaving room for a truck to drive through on our right hand side.

Vs Bournemouth he was wasting time to hold on to a lead, we’re talking worse than Pickford, Pope, any of the others, setting up a kick on one side then changing mind, calling a defender back to take the goal kick then sending him away again etc. In to added on time we get a free kick just outside box. Mahrez steps up and curls it in and the pent up frustration in me comes out, like Ramsay’s kitchen’s bits they can’t broadcast. “Haaaaa you ******* cheating ****, shame you can’t go for a winner now but some **** has wasted all your time…. etc”. When we sat back down I apologised to the lady next to me but she replied “No, it’s fine he is a ******* ****! Well now he’s our cheating ******* ****. The two game thing is a good way to get as many as possible to have close to 90 minutes on the same day then all have the same recovery time afterwards. Come next weekends friendly that may be the time we see selections for a reason and other than a few who joined late and will have had less minutes they arrive at the starting grid on par with each other. Having one match look at a 16-17 man core would not have achieved that. Having said that it would be good to see some partnerships and relationships develop, the 2 CB's, the 2 deeper midfielders, the understandings between full back and winger etc.

Hamza, in a pivotal game in our promotion season v WBA, saving 3 near certain goals with last ditch clearances, mostly due to his abundance of hair but still, determination and not giving up the cause are you listening Soumare, Winks, Faes.....

Just show her and the crowd the incident and she’ll stop gesturing “why” with a sulk face. Players are traditionally grabbing at shoulders when chasing and if there’s long hair in the way it will get grabbed en route, sometimes unintentionally but this was sustained and blatant.
