I've been like that all week!

Southgate is too soft in his squad selections, which then leads to being too soft at critical points in tournaments.

It's about having options in the squad over a 46 game season. The last three times we've won a league we've had Howard, Wood and Ulloa. None of them were top scorers and only Howard was a regular starter, and if Nacho stays he's first choice, but I'd be happy to have one on the bench.

Plus having a Vardy or Daka gives us pace in behind, so it gives the option to go long if teams attempt the high press, much like Man City can. Ideally you need that pace to stretch the pitch and give the midfield and wide players more space to operate.

With less than 48 hours to go I'd have liked to see a few more players being linked with a move to us. Especially with our players being linked elsewhere. But maybe the rumours of players leaving aren't as certain as they appear

I'd definitely take Wood. I think he'd suit the system well and gives that focal point for the wingers and 8s. Or for hermansen to hit when needed. Always scored goals, would settle quickly and could be easier with the ndidi deal. But if they're selling Johnson, I doubt they'd want to let him leave.

I think he'd be a loss if he left, as it only leaves us with vardy as Daka is off. But £20m is a decent price, and it doesn't seem like he'll sign the new contract we offered him. The biggest issue is whether we have identified a replacement. Could be the return of Chris wood!

Could he do the LB/LDM role when Ricardo isn't playing and we invert from the left instead of the right? Possibly, although I don't think Enzo has tried him in that role. Went for Souttar. Not the perfect candidate, but decent on the ball and I think his aerial strengths are going to be needed this season as a lot of teams are going to be limping the ball into our box from every set piece within 60 yards
