Sorry - only just seen this... Obviously in football terms, there's quite a rivalry between Weymouth and Dorchester (or at least there was until Weymouth started doing well and DTFC less so) and that colours my judgement about the place and people quite considerably. Imagine your feelings about somebody from Coventry or Derby to help you to understand!! And I've not lived in Dorset since finishing my A levels there back in the 1980's so my knowledge mightn't be as up to date as some. I do head back to visit family and friends most years though. Dorset is a glorious county to live in. I think it's generally a pretty friendly place and it shouldn't be too hard to get involved in the local life. Join a skittles team - something of a pub phenomenon down there and would surely be a great way to meet a few people over a drink or four. Failing that - go and watch Dorchester Town FC play when LCFC aren't. Have a beer in the clubhouse before the game and you'll soon start up a conversation with one of the friendly locals. Weymouth - like a lot of seaside towns - can be pretty soulless in the winter months. But the surrounding villages are beautiful. Happy to answer any other questions you might have..

Just tried to enter the ballot with my membership.... They've messed up the website and you can click through to the page but can't actually enter the ballot... It doesn't work... typical when they're only giving such a short window of opportunity as well....

I do apologise if this has been discussed elsewhere. I find myself in Spain right now.. Keen to watch the game later. Is it possible from here ? Anyone know how? Obviously I can do the stream thing but I would have thought there were legal options as well? DF

Both teams play in a different style... Ings is about the only striker in the premier league right now who could be a like for like replacement for Vardy and I'd sign him up in a flash if he was ever available. There are no cogs in out machine that I'd replace with Southampton players aside from that right now - but then Saints fans might well say the same the other way around..

Didn't he score against Sheffield United in the Carabao to much frivolity? -
There were a couple of interviews he gave at the end of last season where he looked absolutely knackered and I found myself wondering if he'd fully recovered from the Covid he'd had. This season, he's looking and sounding much better again. Really considered interview that he gave post-match yesterday.

There’s a lovely quote in Rob Tanner’s interview with Tielemans in the Athletic in which Youri says he hopes that Wilf will be at Leicester for many seasons.. Think about what that means - it certainly says a lot about Youri’s commitment..

SO - tonight the game is being shown on FaceBook Watch (whatever that is)… Any idea if it'll be shown in the Stags Head? Sean

Margins though isn't it? I don't think we played that badly against Burnley. Had one of our efforts gone in or Vards scored the penalty, we'd have been praising the team for turning things around and putting on a solid show. I didn't see much different with Burnley away than I saw at Brighton or Crystal Palace away - just we came out on the right side of the result and our fans were happy. Keep the faith.. It'll come good..

Ben and Hamza - what's kicked off?

As another Sean (though not from Enderby), it is all a bit embarrassing isn't it? Have you seen his tagline thingy? 'The sluts go nuts' - WTF?? -

I'm sure I recall an interview in which he said that he wanted to be at home with his wife and family - because his wife (and him) had gone through something of an emotional rollercoaster since the Tunisia holiday horrors... Felt for him and thought what a thoroughly top bloke - something we all know for sure now... -
I thought the Feed The Scousers chant was pure cringe and embarrassing last night. Let's face it - Leicester is hardly the most affluent of cities and it's a crying shame that we're happy in chanting about the poverty that's experienced in another town!! Worse still was the crowd near to me who thought it funny to sing 'Is this a foodbank' to the tune of 'is this a library'. Foodbanks - places where people go to get food when they can't afford to buy food in other places - pretty decent places set up because people care.. Not sure why we feel comfortable turning that into a chant of abuse... And my main bugbear about it is that it doesn't scan either!!!
-
My partner, who knows sod all about football, did mention the other day that Jonny Evans deserves a chant.. have to say I agreed with her on that front.. thoughts on the solid, under-rated part of our centre back partnership..
-
Thought he did what any striker should do.. got the ball over the line.. he didn’t know if any defender was behind him.. these commentators are making something out of nothing..
-
I’d be pissed off listening to Gary Neville’s comments if I was a Man City fan.. FFS, could he show his love for the reds anymore... and we think we get bad commentators..
-
His interview on MOTD suggests he wants regular top 6 football - but he thinks he’ll get it at Leicester.

And a Leicester connection... Did Dave actually spend some time studying at DMU? Or did he just miss all of the lectures like he references on the album??
-
Stuff on the pitch was pretty solid last night - lots of positives and it’s all been mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Was it just me or did the club drop a couple of balls giving the overall impression of being a tad tinpot? Queues outside before kick-off suggested that the west stand wasn’t as well resourced as it should have been. Drinks/food queues in the concourse barely moved. It was as if the club knew the ground was only going to be half-full so only put on half of the required staff in the full stand. And the state of the floodlights? The Atalanta fans were pissing themselves..

Have no idea if this is still the case but it certainly was a few years ago.. I knew a friend of the Maguire family who used to tell me that Harry only ever took 25% of his earnings. His Dad took the rest to invest it in Harry's future. This friend of the family said that Harry was the sort of chap who wasn't that motivated by money - great family background etc.. Only posting this now because it seems a little relevant when thinking about Maguire's motivations... Everybody has commented on his sheer professionalism... Long may that continue...

Anyone know if the Stags Head can show the pre-season game against Scunthorpe tonight? It's on LCFC TV but I'd rather watch it with some fellow foxes..

What has happened to The Mercury

I’m not going to link to it on here but the new sports team at Leicestershire Live have started well.. Apparently we ‘out-thought’ both Spurs and Man United for Tielemans signing.. Class typo... -
I'll be heading down on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Haven't been since the Dolly Parton year when a coked-up teenager knocked me to the floor as he marched on by twisting my knee in the process. I'm hoping the same doesn't happen this year and denying the obvious fact that I'm too old for such shenanigans... Will be sure to check out the Leicester based acts on the line up - that'll be Easy Life and Mahalia from what I know.. sure there must be others as well..
-
I'm living in London now - will have to try out The Stags Head at some point.. Does it show all LCFC games or just the ones that are on the telly?
