Could This Be the Most Important January Ever?

Ryan Bennett incoming! -
That’s a great move for the future, but not sure it’s the best thing for right now.

It’s really important for people to know/realize that when he was at PSV he had an unbelievable squad. Simon’s, gakpo, bakayoko to name a few. If we had that squad, we would be qualifying for Europe. So please can we stop referring to the spell he had in charge of a team in an inferior league with superior players - there is no comparison to the job he is now in. -
Loads of money to spend. Simple.

Cooper kept Fatawu on the bench when he was fit - more than once. *drops mic* -
100%

I don’t believe that you need to be tall to be a good defender. There are lots of other examples of small defenders. But we do need some size in our squad. We often look tiny compared to the opposition, which is fine if you are Barcelona. We are most definitely not Barcelona.

Cooper was literally bargain bin mate. He never looked arsed. Decisions, subs etc non existent or bizarre. At least with RVN we have seen a bit of charisma and leadership, getting messages across during the game etc. Subs have been better than under cooper. I do think there has been an improvement, even if it’s a minor one. The last two games have been awful. But if he had a fully fit and available squad we wouldn’t have been hammered like we were. And if Fatawu was fit for Brighton, he would have put away the chances that Kasey had. im not for one minute saying RVN is great, or is the answer. Believe me, I don’t think he is. But I do think he’s better than cooper. -

I still think RVN is a better manager than Cooper. Both were way down on my list in the summer, and RVN was low on the list when Cooper was sacked. I still think/hope he can turn it around. He’s inherited a mess. If Ruud had been appointed in the summer with a transfer window, a fit squad at the start of the season, we would 100% be in a better position now than what we are. Cooper was the brain fart. -
But if he does come back and help us survive, after leaving against his will to help his boyhood club financially, he needs to be mentioned in the same breath as our biggest icons/best servants. As that would be several selfless acts to help his club.

I could send you the “good touch, bad touch” intervention I have for you to do with him if you like? -

Some promising signs tonight. important not to get carried away though, lots of work to do still. -
His best performance in a Leicester shirt. Hopefully he can be consistent, if so, he will be useful for us this season.
-
I would actually say he’s probably the sensible choice at rb at this point.

Literally stealing 4m a year from the club and has been for years. Surely this needs to stop soon!

I think we need a group buy on some royal blue turtle necks - would be awesome to see loads of those on show at home games! -
I don’t think it’s a world class appointment. But I’ve warmed to the idea. He’s clearly got a good enough tactical nouse, and oozes charisma and leadership that this squad desperately needs!
-
The one thing I hope comes out of all of this, is that top realises he has a spine and actually has the balls to start making bold decisions. I don’t think the majority of the fan base will mind if he gets a few things wrong if he’s being bold and getting the majority of calls right, or at least showing he’s got the right thought process etc. We’ve had years of passive management at board level, if it’s taken to get to where we are now for that to happen, then it’s been worth it because the future could be bright with vichai jr at the helm!

From the Dutch master!

Stealth ninja top 🥷 making all the secret moves without anyone suspecting. Here’s hoping anyway. Praying to every god that it’s not Lee flipping carsley! Though if I were trying to put a positive spin on it, the first two England u21 managers we had were awful, third time lucky!
-
The Dutch league is more like the Portuguese league than the spl - just wanted to put that out there. for the record, rvn would not be my first choice, but not my last either. Somewhere in the middle.

From watching his tactics video on YouTube, I can see the sense in it. the problem is, we don’t have bakayoko, Simon’s etc. his system worked so well at psv because he had the team capable of playing it. the annoying thing is, if we had signed him up in the summer, we would have spent the 30odd million we had on players that would move the squad closer to one who could play ruuds system. Instead, we’ve got loads of defensive midfielders and a few bang average strikers.
