Perez gives us that balance as a forward player that wingers dont. I agree he hasnt been great for us but he has only been here a couple of months. If we start judging new signings after a few months then we might as well have binned Caglar. Some of the knee-jerk stuff about him I read last year was farcical. Despite that, we have options and permutations and personally I think Praet played well enough to stay in midfield and Id have Maddison back in for Ayoze and try that 11.

This dude was a beast today and his best performance of the season. Its amazing to think he is still only 22.
-
Anyone who has watched Perez for Newcastle knows that this guy blows hot and cold and is inconsistent. He isnt a 7/10 player every week, but a 4/10 then an 8 or 9. Im sure he will contribute to us throughout the season and we will look back saying he was a solid signings.

Praet was very tidy today, doing the simple things well and his positioning and movement were excellent as he gave colleagues options. He reminds me of Harry Winks in style but a better version but he isnt a player IMO that can be compared to Tielemans. Tielemans is the type of player (like Maddison) who always has memorable moments in a game, usually in the final third of the pitch. Todays example was that superb left foot volley that was goal bound but blocked by the defender and we somehow didnt get a corner. Then it was the lovely cross from a almost straight angle that Vards headed over, then the through pass on the ground. Praet for me is very neat and tidy but doesnt have enough memorable or decisive moments to his game from what I have seen for Tielemans to worry about his place. BTW Tielemans MOM today?! Did old Smudger Smith not watch what Ndidi and Riccardo were doing?!!

Spurs flew yesterday and that was with none of their summer signings included. However its about what we do at home that is more important because they may have skill in areas but they seriously lack pace and we have that in abundance. I just hope we land on a system of play and get the personnel right because we have plenty of options there but it seems we haven't a favoured first 11 where sides like Spurs have,. Kasper Riccardo - Evans - Soyuncu - Chilwell Hamza Tielemans - Praet Ayoze Maddison Vardy Its harsh on Ndidi but he is another one who looks a little heavy legged after his summer excursions. Hamza uses the ball quicker and passes more crisply which I think is something we need to get back to doing as at times we are pedestrian and in cruise control.
-
He just seemed very heavy legged and slow at times. tt almost looks like he is carrying an injury. He will improve no doubt but its the team unit and balance which is more important as we are a little all over the shop at the moment.

A really weird game of football. It felt firstly like a pre-season and then it seemed like our players decided that we were playing against Barcelona and gave a real gash team a hell of a load of respect. I cant knock Rodgers here as he decided to go for Gray to attack Ahsley Young on the right and use his pace to help Riccardo when James attacked. Unfortunately Gray was woeful and does what he always does when entrusted to start, he just disappoints. Playing Barnes against Wan-Bissaka instead looked better on paper but not many get the better of him so attacking Young was the right move. Playing two defensive central midfielders was also the right call IMO, as they matched up against McTominay and Matic which our pair should have been all over. Unfortunately, our offensive players like Tielemans, Gray, Maddison and the attacking full-backs didnt play that well. If they fail to perform then we are buggered. We messed up chances to cross, one in particular from Chilwell, then Vardy did amazing work to skin Maguire on the right and crossed and no one was attacking the box. It was so lethargic its unreal. To surmise, it was extremely frustrated to watch as it seemed this was the 2nd leg of a cup comp where we were defending a 5-0 lead. We had no urgency, no energy and it was shades of us under Puel where we are slack in the beginning of matches and had no belief. I expected a response in the 2nd half but we had possession but were probably worse that the first half. Time to react at home to Spurs next week.

Its such a shame we didnt think it best to loan him out. He was very impressive in the u21s and he has decent potential. Id much rather we loaned him out instead of constantly loaning these older lads like Slimani and Silva who cost us a fortune.Id sell the latter two for half market value just to get shot.

Im looking forward to that United high line and Vardy in a foot race with Harry, and an in form Tielemans and Maddison finding those through balls for Vards. I havent been so confident for one of our sides going to them in years. I just home if Hamza plays he doesnt kill Pogba, as he has a habit of dallying on the ball which would be too tempting for Hamza!
-
You have to pat the hierarchy at the club on the back for identifying both Benkovic and Caglar in readiness to replace Maguire and Evans. Its such intelligent business from our lot and although Caglar may have got into the first team a little earlier than anticipated, its proven to be cracking business. I really hope we continue to identify young players with high potential like Caglar.

Hamza starting more games than expected. Maddison assist to Vardys goal.
-
Some of our fans dismissed him before he signed and you get the feeling the wouldnt mind him failing to prove a point. Perez has got skills and has got very good talent to play in the fluid system we are trying. However, him along with most of our creative players like Tielemans, Praet and Maddison are not match sharp yet. They have been lazy and slow in the pass at times and arent timing the pass through to Vardy. IMO, in time that will come. as they get match fit they can run more and there passing will be sharper. Lets not bury Ayoze after 3 games FFS

Leicester City Star Ndidi Doubtful For Ukraine Friendly After Suffering Hamstring Injury Published: August 23, 2019 Wilfred Ndidi is unlikely to add to his international caps when the Super Eagles face Ukraine in an international friendly next month and it has nothing to do with Leicester City refusing to release the midfielder to the Nigeria Football Federation. Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that the Leicester City number 25 played through the pain barrier as the Foxes were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in the Premier League on August 18. After tests carried out by Leicester City medics, Ndidi has been diagnosed with a hamstring problem and could miss their next two matches against Sheffield United (Premier League) and Newcastle United (League Cup), but it is expected that he will be available for selection after the international break. Obviously the club tried to keep this quite but this Nigerian based website told us yesterday he was out with a hamstring injury. Unlike many in here who crow for flying wingers like it was the 1970s, I love this fluid 433 system. With only one defensive midfielder in today it gives us a chance so see Praet in action which makes us even more attacking. The speedsters can come in if required later on in the match but I think we have a team full of players who can slip through balls in to Vardy and each other so I really fancy us here. 3-1 Foxes, MOM Hamza Goals, Tielemans, Praet, Vardy

Fuchs signs for one more year!

Such a talented footballer. OK he hasnt the pace but was aggressive at times, his positioning was great and that wand of a left foot can do great things! Im delighted he stayed on because he seems like a great fun character and I dont mind the prem winners staying on as long as possible to pass on that winners mentality to the younger lads. -
Sheff U remind me of us in earlier days with 3 centre halfs and a largely English/British squad. The difference with us is we had a few top players like Muzzy and Emile and some bruising big defenders where there game is not as physical with centre halfs acting as wingers! Its a real interesting formation and way to play and thats supported by some bang average players hunting down the ball like their lives depended on it. In theory we should have more than enough know how and ability to win here and I reckon that games like today will sharpen us up and the errors of today (timing of key passes) will be less against these. I think we win 3-1 and Sheff Weds fan scores a couple. Evans with the other.

He is young so has plenty of learning to come. He created more chances than anyone in the league last season and created a couple more today but at times had a pass and didnt give it when he should and dwelled a little. I think thats down to match fitness though so it will come. He missed that big chance to put us ahead and missed it badly so we need him to be that 10-15 goal attacking midfielder in order to really help us but there is no doubt he has all the attributes to be a really top player. He isnt there yet and far from a £125m player but if he keeps progressing at the rate he has done over the last 12 months then he will end up being some player.
-
What is it with us and starting games asleep?! We were the same under Puel last season!! Anyway, scrap the first 15 mins, we played well in the 1st half without creating much but shut out there play. In the 2nd half there was only ever going to be one winner. We created plenty of clear cut chances and really Madders should have won us that game with his chance. Vards missed a couple of half decent chances too. Also, we got into a shed load of great positions but we couldnt time the run or the pass. Im sure that crispness will come with a few more games but I was screaming at the telly when we constantly looked to have an easy through ball for a one on one but fluffed the pass. We created loads more than Match Day 1 and I expect us to keep improving with fitness. Overall Id say 7.5 out of 10 for the performance and bossed a top 6 contender on their own patch for an hour.

He looked very good and very composed. Great start.
