That may be true but the reality is when we bought him 2 seasons ago no one really thought he would be amazing and had reservations about his pace. 2 seasons on and a huge profit, there are still quite a few reservations about his pace and aspects of his game. His status IMO has been majorly enhanced not for what he has done on the pitch with us (where he has been no better than good on average) but for what he has done with England, from scoring in a World Cup and getting in the team because Central defender is one of the weakest positions for England these days. Had he not got involved in England he would be a 30-40m player based on Leicester performances alone. Anyway we are Leicester so will always sell but if we can limit it to one a season like we seem to be doing then that would be amazing, largely because we always add quality these days with thanks to profits of selling a marquee player.BTW, we shouldnt grumble too much. If Liverpool have to sell the likes of Suarez and Coutinho, Barca Neymar and Real Madrid Ronaldo then I think us selling Maguire shouldnt come as too much of a shock.

Thanks for the contribution Harry, you looked class at times for us and a bit ropey on others LOL, and have gone on to be an England regular. Loved by England fans as you played for a non-top 6 side, lets see if you now get the same love! Amazing profit for the club for a very solid player but not the best defender in the world as the transfer fee seems to suggest. Like with Kante, Drinkwater and Mahrez moving on, we will continue to move forward without Harry so it isnt doom and gloom. Hopefully Benkovic gets a chance in his absence.

LOL I get what you are saying and you will know more than me as I moved out of Leicester years ago to work abroad and have ended up in London. When I do see Leicester folk I get more pride than a superiority complex. I get that some of the younger fans have been blessed to a certain extent and will look at the facts regarding Prem winners and somehow elevate us but there is no harm in finally being able to give a little back to the so called big clubs, especially the ones who havent won the league in years, decades (like Liverpool) or half a century or more like Spurs. We are no longer the yo-yo club who used to get mocked and have a shed load of assets in our playing staff that are the envy of most. With that, we can give it as long as we dont strut around like Brazil or Barcelona!!!

Pound for pound I think our lot are just fine! Yeah we have got some who make you cringe but as many have said, so have so many others. Losing Maguire is bad enough, losing him to a club that has a habit of buying the best players from most clubs in England barring Liverpool and then seeing they have made a chant about him mocking us in the mix can make a mild mannered soul want to turn into a loon. I for one think Im quite calm but when you analyse that these lot have got what they wanted, it can annoy the mild mannered among us. BTW I`ll guarantee you one thing. If someone like Spurs had won the league like we did a few seasons ago, they would be strutting around like being Lord of the manor for 20 years. We won the league and have spent more time smiling and gaining neutral fans from around the world instead of being arrogant or annoying like many would. So overall our fans do all right.

By joining the group late after the u21s you would imagine Hamza would be blowing against Atlanta but he was running around like a man possessed late in the game. He has fast become my favourite player and I think if he gets to play at least 3/4s of our games this season he could even get an International call up. I hope Brendan can give him the confidence to add to his game because he seems to be a really crisp passer of the ball but would need to get a little more adventurous in his passing and not just play it safe. I say that as I think he is capable.

We bought him three and a half years ago and he has managed to play less than 50 games for us. The young kid is 25 this year and to be honest I still dont know what his best position is. Right Backs in the modern day are meant to have pace and being able to cross where Amarteys crossing isnt so great, then we know he plays centre back for his nation and thats where he may be best but again looks very shaky and then theres defensive midfielder which again he did OK in but lacks much passing ability. He is one of those unfortunate players who is seen as a utility because he isnt top class in any one position but decent cover. With that, I would sell him on and not loan him and hopefully for his career, he gets regular game time and sticks to one position.

I think the same can be said for virtually every side in the division regarding their main striker getting injured. None of them look the same whether its Kane or Aguero. The only thing that looks really good for us his season and we dabbled a bit with it last season is we finally have some goals and creativity from midfield in Tielemans. We then see Maddison getting better and looks set for 10 goals plus for us IMO. Ayoze is another addition that gives us more goals and creativity. It seems the flying wingers have been binned for now and its about getting closer to Vardy and get creative which to be honest is something I am really looking forward to seeing this season.
-
The problem Kelechi will always have is being a bit part player aka bench warmer. We constantly talk about all these young players we have and seem to sidestep the fact that he is just 22 himself. Im not really sure how any manager can deal with this problem as if he starts wit Vardy, we have to change the system, if not I cant see how he gets a run long enough to build his confidence and sharpness. Good luck on that one Brendan!!
-
It looks like this is a different type of Leicester side full of number 10s (Ayoze, Maddison, Tielemans) so I dont think the likes of Ayoze will have the typical pressure him to deliver 20 goals a season like someone like Slimani may have had. For me, if Ayoze can get 10-12 goals and is joined on a similar number by Maddison and Tielemans just behind, then the hope is Vardy will score 20+ with all these players now around who will create chances for him. Back to Ayoze, he definitely looks more like a link man than a main striker but in his brief pre-season friendlies I really like the the way he has a balance of going for goal as well as having his head up trying to create. Some of his little flicks and passes looked really impressive.

That vid is about 4 years old LOL! If that is as good as wecoulddig up then I`d keep away. BTW he may have been 23 when this was taken but I hope his positioning has improved as he looked all over the shop.

Will Harry be a Leicester player against Wolves?
Analysethis replied to ozleicester's topic in Leicester City Forum
So rumours are he missed training today? I presume that its to complete a move as opposed to an injury? Can anyone confirm any of this? -
I cant see any circumstance where he starts two up front to be honest. We have too many attacking players who will play around one striker whoever it is. On tactics, Brendan may have a few ideas and he would have learned a bit from his first pre-season with the lads but from memory he didnt start two defensive midfielders in any of the games we have played so far. Anyway, I have waffled on enough on Hamza but the long and short of it is that I hope he gets loads of game time.
-
Good old Gareth Southgate has a team of decent attackers and wingers but is starved of someone who can link play up and play through balls in more central positions. He has one in Maddison but somehow he is saying that Madders doesnt fit in the system and the way England play. Some managers may be stuck in a certain way, I hope Brendan isnt as reported because Hamza needs to play IMO.
-
LOL mate not quite but apart from Man City who seem to get away with no defensive midfielders at times (when Fernandinho is banned or injured) everyone else needs two, especially when most seem to want to play three attacking players these days. Lets not forget we had Drinkwater and Kante when we won the league a couple of seasons ago. To me, playing two holding midfielders allows the Tielemans and whoever the front three are to attack knowing they have cover, and it also lets Chilwell and Riccardo bomb on.
-
Everything at the club is going great, but my one moment of sadness was when I read the Brendan will only play one defensive midfielder. Worse is we keep getting linked to other midfielders. I really hope all of this doesnt mean Hamza is loaned out or restricted to 10-15 games a season for us. Personally, I would build a team around Hamza. He may be a bit rash at times but his energy, crisp passing and all round game is amazing. I know Id be in the minority here but I would actually have him first on the team sheet.

Do we need or want a new club captain.??
Analysethis replied to fuchsntf's topic in Leicester City Forum
The horrible thing about having great players is knowing that sooner or later they will leave. I remember having this chat with a buddy who supports Spurs back in the day when they had Modric, Berbatov and Bale. With that in mind, picking a captain must be a ball ache for the hierarchy. Players like Ndidi, Maguire, Evans would be my options and I`ll throw in Hamza as a future captain as well. -
The Bookies don't fancy us for a Euro Spot.
Analysethis replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Its exciting times for us once again and we should be optimistic, however there will be clubs like West Ham and Everton who will fancy a pop at he top 6 as well and you usually get one or two "shocks" so I understand where the bookies are coming from here. A pre-season with Brendan and a few signings should be amazing for the team and squad but we have to remember that we finished 53 points away from Man City (roughly 18 wins), 28 points behind 4th (approx. 9 wins) and 16 points behind 6th (approx.5 wins). That is going to need a monumental swing in performance to get into the top 4 or even top 6. We have plenty of reasons to be excited though, especially as so many of those above us will be playing in Europe which will increase their workload but we should do a Claudio and just talk about getting to 40 points and avoiding relegation again LOL -
Against it. However Im more against Dr The Singhs spelling. The word is Circumcision. Now if you have purposely chopped off some letters in solidarity to bits being chopped off these kids then you deserve a trophy!! LOL

I did read the thread but largely disagree with the people who think he has 3 years left which will take him to the age of 35 (and a half). You may not agree with what I type but if you think he us running as much as 3 seasons ago, will have that same level of pace for three more seasons and dont see a correlation between speedy players losing pace as they get older and injuries then more fool you. Take Rio Ferdinand as an example, left United at 34 and his last 2 seasons after losing a yard were painful. The bloke is super fit and lives the right way and even decided to take up boxing. All that good living doesnt hide the fact that you lose pace as you get over 30, whether you like it or not.
-
Personally Im glad our club in recent times have made decisions on people like Matty, Fuchs and Wes more from the heart and mind, We make more than enough money in transfer deals and have a squad brimming with assets that will mostly continue that trend so despite some deals contracts being questionable, I wont complain about the sentiment.

These are our fixtures and results in 2015/16 and local games did us no harm as we went on to win the league!! I think this seasons fixtures will keep our lads fresher than traipsing around the world. Lincoln City 1–3 Leicester City Mansfield Town 1–1 Leicester City Burton Albion 1–2 Leicester City Rotherham United 1–2 Leicester City Birmingham City 2–3 Leicester City The following season it was glamour ties v Celtic in Scotland, PSG in the US and Barca in Sweden. We started the season looking knackered and got done by a Hull side who could barely put a side out. We won 3,drew 4 and lost 7 of our opening fixtures and looked heavy legged and lethargic at times. We rallied later on though. In 2017/18 it was over to Hong Kong for two friendlies. We won 1,drew 3 and lost 4 of our opening 8 games. Last season we didn't go long haul but played friendlies in France and two in Austria. 4 wins and 5 losses in our opening 9 games. Lets hope not putting the commercial side first boosts us early season.

I fear this season will be his last as a first team regular near the top of his game. He is 33 in January which is a problem for someone whose game is based around pace and running. I thought last season that his harrying and harassing was good but not at the same level as when we won the league. I can only see that getting worse as father time catches up. I say this because strikers or wide players with pace being a serious and fundamental part of there game either slow up, lose their pace or start getting more injuries. Players like Michael Owen, Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, all look(ed) ineffective when thy got into their 30s and started picking up injuries. Even Thierry Henry who returned to Arsenal on loan as a 33/34 year old looked woeful and he has a fair better all round game than Vards. We need to be conscious of this and another striker with pace needs to be a priority. Someone to play in cups and when Vards needs a rest. Id look at Moreilos at Rangers as an option.
-
I have to disagree here. We have serious pace from our full back positions in Chilwell and Riccardo in addition to Vardy. For the fullbacks to get forward we cant have Ndidi as the only protection in midfield. For me, the full-backs played better when we have Ndidi and Hamza. Two "wingers" just leaves too much distance between them and the full-backs for me and also we look weak in central midfield without Hamza. We are fortunate enough to have 3 no 10s now in Tielemans, Ayoze and Madders and without wingers we have to build up and find that magic pass. We finally have these players who can now get forward and score goals but IMO they need protection. This recent obsession of "flying" wingers.to me is dated. Yeah Gray and Barnes are superb options to open up a game but personally I hope we dont buy any wingers and are more creative in the final third.

Im not sure exactly but it was 25 squad players for which 8 had to be "Home Grown" meaning having been at our club for at least 3 years. I dont think academy players need to be registered in the 25. My point was we have far too many players on our books now and are still linked to more. Worryingly some are a little older and past there best. I hope we get shot of Silva, Slimani, James, King (sorry Andy!!) along with at least Kapustka and Diabete.
