In farness to Kelechi he seems to play in sides when its our 2nd string and with that its not really a true reflection of his skills. He has shown he can play as a striker but also looks really good in that Maddison no 10 role too. The fact that he is playing with mostly the 1st team means we see the real Kelechi. He deserves a new contract or else we need to cash in during the summer.
-
I don't think so. There is no way he plays Ayoze as a "false 9" when Vardy got injured if he really rates Kelechi. You get the feeling he had no option but to play him in recent times and would rather he remained a bench player.
-
I believe Kelechi`s contract runs until next summer. I think Brendan is loving his form for the team for two reasons, (that he is helping the team and increases the chances of us getting a decent fee for him). To me it seems his mind is made up on him and the chances of him getting a new deal are IMO minimal. It seems so obvious Brendan wants to another direction for his strikers.
-
I'm certain we did switch to a more typical 442. From memory, even the commentators pointed it out.
-
Its a shame that Brendan doesn't really rate Kelechi IMO. He played Ayoze when Vards went for an op despite Kelechi not letting us down when called upon, especially in Europe (3 in 7 I think playing with "Lesser" players) and disappointingly, he never praises Kelechi when due. The reporter lined up a question in the post-match interview about how important Kelechi was but Rodgers almost looked irritated! He turned to Vards contribution in response LOL!! I love Brendan but its evident that he wants someone else as a back-up striker which is a shame.

It looked to me like we did. Castagne dropped into a left-back position and Amartey looked like he spent most of his time at RB. Fofana and Caglar were closer together in central defence. To me, it looked like we switched from a 352 to a 442 for the 2nd half.

Massive win. Fair play Rodgers for switching to 442. There was only one team in it from then. Kelechi deserves full credit, amazing pass by Tieleman as well!

87th min Vardy from 8 yards. -
Some nice moments with that shot and a cracking run. Also seemed quite vocal for a youngster. Needs to strengthen up a bit but a promising 70 mins.
-
5 at the Back with Evans being one, Riccardo at wing back and Justin at LWB wouldnt look bad. Kasper Caglar - Evans - Fofana Riccardo Justin Ndidi - Tielemans Maddison Barnes Vardy However, I dont think its working with the current available players.

Amartey off for Fuchs. Fuchs to LB, Castagne to RB and push Riccardo to RM. The problem with this 352 is Caglar looks dog on the left side of a 3, Amartey is his ever obliging garbage on the ball, Castagne has now wide mid/winger so looks lost as a wing back. Ndidi and Tielemans are all over the shop and not playing there normal game and the shape isnt working. Brendan needs to be brave here. I was hoping he would make changes after 30 mins but we cant come out and play the same formation, despite the personnel issues we have. -
He looks really slow and has made loads errors. In his defence, just like the likes of Thomas and even Amartey, should be nowhere near the 1st team and would struggle to make it into a second string. Cracking tekkers on that shot though so fair play for having the confidence to try. We have to be realistic and not expect too much though!!!

If you asked Brendan if he would like us to be here a year on, and above Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs along the way, he would have ripped your hand off in taking it. Yes we are unfortunate with injuries but I am not binning this season quite yet. There are loads of points up for grabs and whether its against Man City or Sheff United, we still start 0-0 and get three points against anyone. We have played a strong first team against the likes of Villa and Fulham and got turned over, lets hope these back-ups and first teamers combine to get us some much needed victories.
-
Correct. 31 was the amount of Jack Daniels shots Cloughie would take before midday evey day.
-
I remember reading he was disappointed as he was involved in pre-season and then hasn't been involved in the first team. My point is as talented as he is, we have plenty of players in front of him so at 19 he needs to remain patient IMO. I believe he got a 2 year pro deal initially and has done OK. We seemingly want to keep him so hopefully he signs a deal and works hard to make it into the team over the next couple of seasons.

I really feel for Kelechi. I am not suggesting he is a world beater, but when the likes of Liverpool call on Origi, Spurs Vinicius, Everton Josh King, Wolves Fabio SIlva, Arsenal Nketiah, I`d say our second striker is just as good if not better then those. When he has played, its largely in 2nd string sides like in the Cups and Europe. As much as I love Brendan and can count on one hand the amount of errors he has made in tactics and team selection, not playing Kelechi when Vards was injured and playing Ayoze up front was IMO a poor decision. He has done enough in Europe to deserve a run in the side as our main striker in Vards absence. Lets hope he can help us out over the forthcoming games, god knows we need goals from somewhere with Madders and Harvey out!

I think Hamza belongs in another era! The bloke loves a tackle and a lunge and he also is a bit of a risk taker. To me he has gone from a forward thinking energetic all action midfielder who used to get his foot in to one who is trying to nick the ball Ndidi style and now passes backwards and sideways! He looks like someone needs to take the leash off of him but I fear that wont be happening at our club.
-
I think Tavares needs to pipe down a little and stay humble. I have seen some u23 this season and he looks OK. Im not sure why he believes he needs to move on as he cant get in the first team as a 19 year old. The likes of Hamza and Barnes went out on loan first and did well and now are part of the first team squad. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is three years older than Tavares and has only gone out on loan a couple of times and that was last year. I hope whoever is advising him tells him to sign a new deal and be patient. Maybe a loan next season even if Hamza is sold on. He is absolutely the right club for younger players. We have a proven track record of developing these lads, our facilities are second to none and we have a manager who will give these lads a chance when good enough.
-
At times he can be so frustrating with rubbish distribution and an ability to come out a few yards to catch or punch a ball a way (especially with out team of dodgy headers!), but there is no doubt he is one of the best shot stoppers in the league and he proved it yesterday.

Will we finish in the Top 4

I think we may just make it. Games like yesterday, an away day point which sees one point gained and a player returning from injury is a positive. Villa lost to Sheff U and Man United could only draw at Palace which was a strong night for us. Iversen Justin - Fofana - Evans - Thomas Albrighton - Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Under Maddison - Praet - Barnes Perez Most of the above are unavailable through injury and loan in addition to starting on the bench. Hopefully all (bar Under) will have a part to play in a Champions League effort next season. -
You do wonder why a club like Roma, seemingly finishing just shy of the Champions League spots in recent seasons want to get rid. I know he cheesed off Roma fans after a goal celebration based around a Military style salute when Turkey invaded the Kurds, but you would have thought if he was such a superkid there is no way they would have sold never mind loaned out with a view to a sale. For me, he is left footed Demarai Gray. He shows amazing glimpses, you think he could be the next big thing but in reality, his game is littered with so many poor decisions, constantly shooting and simply not a Leicester player. Just like Gray, he may well find his home where his talents come to fruition but for me, he isn't a Leicester City player IMO. We have 218 injuries and the lad still cant get in which all leads to BR making the decision to look elsewhere. The search to a RM/RW continues!!

Arsenal match thread - Sunday 28th at 12.00

Our line-up was predicable but Arsenals looks strange. To drop so many players for this must be based around there excursions in Europe and those players being knackered. Lets hope we can do the damage before some of them subs can head for the pitch! -
I have largely kept away from this forum since the loss to Slavia, largely due to what normally happens by the irrational brigade who convert natural disappointment from a loss into all out foaming at the mouth lunacy. Looking around today it seems some have lost the plot! I feel for Rodgers. So many injuries for key players has messed us up option wise and the likes of Hamza end up staying when should have been gone, Riccardo, Castagne, Ndidi and Caglar not rested after coming back from long term injuries and being forced to keep playing the likes of Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans, Vardy etc will result in injury (it already has with Madders). He picked a team to win and IMO wasn't disrespecting Slavia, but was protecting his players. I genuinely believe he picks the same side if we were home to Sheff United tomorrow so this isn't about Arsenal. Its just so unfortunate that very decent back-ups like Justin (who has gone on to be a 1st teamer),Kelechi, Perez, Praet, Wes, Fofana (probably was bought as back-up) have all got injured (or suspended). Our 2nd string would beat Slavia if we had the squad available. It does baffle me when some in here make out that injuries mean nothing. All you need to do is look at Liverpool and the way they have lost the plot and they havent had half the injuries we have had. Anyway, I think Rodgers has been amazing with a shed load more positives than negatives. A major mistake at Slavia, yeah probably. Have we got loads going for us with many first teamers heading back in the upcoming weeks? Yes too. I wonder how many would have taken (at the start of the season) to still in the FA Cup, joint 2nd in the league and last 32 in Europe (and out) with the squad developing along the way? I know I would!! Lets keep calm and look forward to the rest of the season.

Assist for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to get Luton back in the game, now 2-2 for his lads.

I've always found Scottish birds to be quite ugly, but any hot bloodied male and lukewarm female surely couldn't resist the charms of Bargain Hunt hostess Anita Manning??
