Many seem to think Zidane. My spidey senses say Potter.

Assume the last one is 'Four'k handles, aka 2 Ronnies sketch?

Well, oh well. What do we do here then. A few weeks ago I was convinced he was off no matter what, and that the club should do everything they could to offload Nacho, and that we would have to be in the market for someone to fit this system. I was worried about that, because as we know strikers that fit this system will be in short supply and would we in the position to pay Premier League fees and prices now? And then he gets his first start. All of us at the Plymouth game had a little laugh when he was starting, saying that 'the goals will have to be coming from the midfield then'. But he has proven me emphatically wrong. 5 goal contributions in 4 games. But there is more to it than that. He is getting in the right places at the right time, he is pressing like crazy in a way the other strikers haven't done, and he providing goals and contributions. He is much, much better that Vardy and Nacho right now (Cannon still doesn't count until he gets properly started). Rotherham parked all the buses yesterday, and he still managed to create more opportunities than Nacho. There still seem to be some criticisms of his first touch, but his link up play isn't bad at all, and would only get better with more game time. Afcon kind of ruins things. But i presume that he has to stay now and we invest elsewhere (and still try to offload Nacho). I actually don't buy the 'hes good at this level argument' right now. I think he can step up, and this is the springboard to do so.

Agree. They will be given space and will need to be clinical. But, our backline need to perform as well. It will be the biggest test since Leeds.

Will we get promoted - now i am pretty confident. But we have 3 very good teams behind us who will give it everything, so im taking it one game at a time. A win against Ipswich would be massive. I think January will be very, very testing for us though, and tougher than many people realise. Will we break all the records - in December, i actually don't care. If we keep this up and head into March on the same trajectory then I might start to think about it. At this point, i don't want it to seem like a failure that we didn't break everything. Let's get the main job done first.

You only have to remember that the atmosphere was like as recently as the Sheff Weds or Middlesbrough results. At the KP, i was hearing 'this type of football will always get you into trouble' and in the first half yesterday the 'get it forward' brigade turned into the 'just shoot ffs' brigade. The patience that this football requires is understandably lost on many. Our defence was a catastrophic mess last season, and i don't understand why lots of people aren't looking at our Goals against (16) and goal difference (31) in complete awe. I think we have some tough fixtures in Jan, coupled with losing a few key players, and i now include in that Daka. If we have a couple of not so favourable results, how long before the pelters come in again complaining about plan b's. It really didn't take long last time despite the start we had. I love the bloke and think he has done a tremendous job. Yes, we have players who made their trade in the PL and have been able to use our clout to get the likes of Fatawu on loan. But he's still had to execute this, and he has stuck to his vision, style and ethos. Getting buy in from the players, many who has struggled last year, is a huge part of that. Seems to be some excellent man management in there.

Rotherham (H) 3-0 - 23 Dec - Post-Match Thread
Chelmofox replied to lnkstern's topic in Leicester City Forum
I have a direct view in H1 block and i was convinced it was outside and the ref had given a free kick. Was dumbfounded that it was a yellow till i realised it was a pen. Just seen this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRA2xXQJaV0&t=592s .. and its much, much closer than i remember (Daka is quicker that you realise a lot of the time). There isn't a replay that give a definitive view at the point contact is made, but almost looks bang on the line. -
Rotherham (H) 3-0 - 23 Dec - Post-Match Thread

When teams like Rotherham barely attack for sure. But Faes found it harder work against Sheffield Wednesday who caused as more issues. JJ has defended well there with some obvious limitations imo, and it's not clear to me why he gets so much criticism. Faes is a rock in the centre 2 partnership and when Doyle is back we have 2 to rotate in the LB position. -
I think the majority of people couldn't hold in the free beer.

Brilliant. Better than my agadoo attempt: Faa- ttaaa - wu wu wu He is Leicester through and through

Wanya Marcal signs new contract until 2026
Chelmofox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Which is why you hope he take this immediate opportunity and gives it his best shot. We have FA Cup games, players out to AFCON and have had a few injury niggles of late. This is the time to impress and prove yourself as there will be opportunities. Seems to be a lot of criticism of him from his early games which i don't quite get, as he was getting used to the system as much as anyone. I thought at times he looked a real handful and i do think think there is a player there. -

He looked a real handful earlier in the season. Glad he could be back as I think he offers something. -
Choudhury played the Winks role well when Winks was suspended (wasn't it the 2-0 win over Watford) and is definitely an option as part of the rotation.

Well, if we get £5 mill for him and and get £1 million off the wage bill, you have to consider that Mavadidi cost at about £6.5 mil and Mads cost us £6m. Sadly, there isn't much monetary value wrapped up in Nacho right now. The cusp of the matter is if the club thinks that Nacho has £6 million more value worth to provide the team, or whether £6 mill can be invested elsewhere. Doing nothing for the sake of it feels poor. I wish someone would pay me £1million because its not worth getting rid of me

I hate the idea too, but sadly there are people out there who openly want this. I remember at the world cup when Croatia beat, having to listen to jumped up influencers complaining that we had been robbed of a Brazil / Argentina game and that Croatia were somehow undeserving of it. There are many who would be happy for any of the big clubs or countries just to play each other over and over.

Love it. Top bloke.

Exactly. All i was doing was pointing out that just chucking someone else from the youth team, who might not be in this years 1st team plans, isn't always the best thing at the last minute.
-
I presume that just chucking a squad member from the youth team isn't always a viable option on match day. With injuries to Vards, Kasey and Yunus, Wanya out of favour, and Preat waking up ill (), you would assume that Alves and Brakbrooke would have been the natural choices from the youth team to make the bench if fit. Nelson was in there. I presume you weigh up if it's worth sticking another one in there at short notice or whether or not they are better off training with the Youth squad. I presume that Praet was the relatively last minute omission and it would have been relatively late notice. Without the injuries and last minute illness, there would have been plenty of options on the bench.

They've leaked 44 goals (amazingly the same that we have scored). I assume they will go low block and pray for a Hull / Shef Weds scenario, but will be interesting to see if they can make the low block work and hold on. I don't think we will see much 'counter attacking' from us as i don't think they will press hard. It could be a really dull game.

Forest done it at the right point. It had become stale, and watching them recently (which always made me want to vomit anyhow) they've become really bad. There is no place for sentimentality in football, and change will (sadly) do them good. Great achievement to get Forest up and keep them up, but he's gone as far as he can. Lets hope they nosedive from here, but they've given themselves enough time to turn it around, and the bottom 3 are honking. If only we had the balls to get rid of Brendan at the right time.
-
But Enzo keeps picking Vestergaard over Coady. If that continues to be the case through the 2nd half of the season it would seem mad not to renew him. I think its very likely he would have a resale value as well.
-
If you are him and get picked, you go. It's something that is never guaranteed to happen again and you have to take chances when presented.
-
He has 2 goals and an assist in 3 starts. All strikers miss chances. We've seen Vardy and Nacho miss a lot over the course of the season, and we've seen many strikers miss against us as well. I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he will improve in this system and can become more clinical. He's not played a lot of club football for 6 months. Yesterday was his first away start, and there were many positive attributes to his performance. His overall contribution to the game has improved even in the 3 games. His link up play is arguably better than Nacho's, and he is able to drag defenders around and create a lot of space better than Vardy. He is linking up with wingers well too. But most notably he is getting the right positions at the right time, something neither Nacho and Vardy were doing. He's rusty, and there was a bit of over reliance on back heels and little flicks, although this could show he is getting confidence in his game. He needs time for Maresca to work his magic on him, but i genuinely feel Daka could be our secret weapon. I still think he will be gone in the January window though, and that he only came in due to injury. This little spell won't have done his valuation any harm though.

Do you think we should offer an extension to his deal which expires in the Summer.
