No matter how you slice it, Ranieri was more important and he was out the next season. He can't eat out on being DoF of that title win forever.

QPR (H) - FA Cup 3rd Round (11th Jan, 2pm)
-sodapop replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
QPR with one loss in their last 11 games, us with only one win in our last 11; feels like we're going to get embarassed. -
You can only beat the league you're in, in our defence. They also spent 100m+ to make this squad. They're also not going to win the league short of a horrible disaster befalling both the Liverpool squad.

I just cant shake the feeling that basically since Puel left, we've not had a cohesive team building approach to recruitment, instead just picking up players based on backroom deals with agents or fishing in the bargain bin from low end PL clubs. We need a total reform of leadership, but that feels totally fanciful.

He featured quite heavily for the Brest side that finished 3rd last year. He was linked with a lot of clubs before going to Marseille, so I think the issue is more likely that he won't come here rather than not being good enough.

It's tricky, from what I understand they've split with their dodgy investor which means they're not a "wealthy" club (in the sense that they were in the first division, pissing money away on dross) but by the context of the 2nd division they're not struggling. From speaking to fans I know here in Berlin, they don't want to spend their way out of the second division but tap into the insane pool of talent that Berlin has. Maza represents that as he's a born and raised Berliner. I think the deal could be done but I doubt it's this winter.

Unless he absolutely wants out and can't see himself settling in the UK, I don't see the point in getting rid of him when we have Faes/Coady/Souttar all on (presumably) more money while not being (to my eyes) much better players. Would sooner see some of the extremely average players we have littering the squad moved on over those who could still come good.

He's magic, but I don't think Hertha will sell now unless they have to. He's very much the bright point of a side that is struggling to find things to be happy about.
-
would have thought he was busy in the middle east
-
Didn't rate him at all here and he hasn't really done anything at Chelsea since going back. Skip this one imo
-
He's been very good for Wednesday this season - but not sure if we a) need a midfielder or b) would get a good price from Soton
-
Could see us take Zirkzee on a loan after seeing him booed off the pitch by the United support. There's a player there, but he needs a change of scenery. Not sure if he played for Bologna before moving (i.e. is he eligible?)

Pit in my stomach knowing it'll be Forest away that gets us mathematically gone

The weirdos on the Liverpool FC subreddit making out like Leicester is the Conservative Party HQ every time we play them does my head in. It'd probably be less annoying if I saw how many of the people commenting were actually from the UK and could label both cities on a map.

Realistic right backs we could sign in January
-sodapop replied to jayfox26's topic in Transfer Talk
Fair enough, I hadn't see the thread title - none of the players he listed are right backs, at least naturally. Klemens is a player for sure though, has played at RB on occasion - more of a DM though. I follow Hertha, I'd say him, Dardai and Maza are the standouts. Cuisance as an 8 wouldn't be the worst option - very underrated player imo. They have a hell of a DM coming through though their B team - Boris Lum. One to watch - local boy though, so might be hard to pry away. -

Players will make the jump if they're up to it. Ligue 2 players have done well for us in the past and that's an even bigger jump. Japanese league players do well frequently coming over to europe, which is a comparable jump. -
Would need to be sent back from OM before we could sign him, but the novelty of taking off Brassier from Brest?
-
Need Man City to get a 90 point deduction
-
rather a 5'11" player who can defend than a 6'6" one that can't
-
Just scored vs PSG.

Easily 5 players. I suspect Buonanotte is going back to Brighton (not our choice). Edouard should be sent back too. That means we need at least a CB, a RW, and LW, ST and RB. If we can shift some players (not likely, given our history), we could do with an 8 and a 10 too.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
-sodapop replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Wonder how much of the initial positive response on here was down to him being better looking and coming across more confidently than Cooper. Today was dreadful, and I can't see the next 3 games being anything toher than us getting battered. I think it's the three promoted teams going straight back down. -
gonna spare myself the misery

He'd start for us for sure. He also played as a right back at Benfica if I remember correctly. Age doesn't concern me as I feel early 30s is often peak age for a defender. I'm more concerned that he'd probably sooner go to a upper-mid table Italian or German side than scrap it out with us. Maybe they can't afford his wages? Which then makes me wonder if that's the best use of our money. Tough one. Won't complain if it happens as he'll improve our starting XI which is what we need, but without knowing all the numbers, hard to say if it's great business.
