Of course, if the FA cup winner didn’t get a spot in the Europa League, and they won it (hahaha) whilst finishing in the bottom half, and a team in 7th got the place over them they’d be kicking off about that. Everyone knows the FA cup winner gets a European spot, it’s happens every year, it’s not conspiracy against the ‘world famous reds’ (tm). Suck.It.Up

Could link up with former team mate Wellens
-
Yeah. It’s just a shame that Top, Rudkin and co have f***ed us so much that in the past, only a handful of clubs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City would be able to take players off us. Whereas now, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, Crystal Palace etc would all be step ups from us.
-
I don’t think Chelsea will come for him. I know Sky aren’t the most reliable but they are reporting other targets. However, someone like Bournemouth could easily come in for him. They are about to bank £50mill selling their young CB Huijsen to Real Madrid. Nelson would be the type of replacement they go for.
-
It was the financial side I was focusing on. As I say, for £10mill and 90k p/w wages I’d expect more. We have established now that he has failed to hold his own in the PL and there are questions over his character and attitude. You’re one of the scouting gurus on here! If the question is framed as, could we have got someone for that transfer fee or less, on half the wages, who could have stepped up and has no question marks over their attitude, I’m sure the answer would be yes. Point being the players are out their in other markets, whether the EFL, Europe or even further afield. That’s why it was a terrible transfer imo. Not that he wasn’t good enough last season.

1h ago19:15 Chelsea not interested in Foxes defender as shortlist revealed Latest from Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol: Leicester City defender Ben Nelson is not a Chelsea target. Chelsea will sign a centre back this summer, but the 21-year-old, who has been on loan at Oxford United, is not currently under consideration. Chelsea’s centre back shortlist includes players such as Jorrel Hato, Marc Guehi and Jarrad Branthwaite. These are the kind of players Chelsea will be hoping to sign in the summer, but in the meantime, their focus is on the final games of the season - and not transfers

2 years, 2027. Therefore probably much less.

Shocking signing by Maresca. Yeah yeah he could knock the ball around nicely at Championship level. I’d expect a lot more for £10mill and 90k p/w in wages. Found completely wanting at PL level and thinks he is bigger than the club. I bet we won’t shift he due to the wages and he’ll leave next summer instead for free as with many others.

It depends how you look at it and what spin is put. Oldham was his first job and they were on a big downwards spiral and they are now a non- league side. I would say a bit hard to read too much into that. Salford he won the EFL trophy so I think ok is maybe slightly harsh but yes league wise they didn’t push on. But then they still haven’t. Doncaster, yeah probably fair but again wasn’t there long and they have only just got promoted back this season so again, a club having a downwards spell which obviously he couldn’t stop at the time.

Yep. But so many people on here even write him off and just a complete lack of mentions anyway. I think even our fans are obsessed with experience. It’s about ability. RVN barely had a track record so hadn’t shown he had any capability. Wellens is building a very good track record, just not yet at the Championship (although in one game he could be). I can just see him going a way higher yet, as far as the stereotype will allow (northern English guy with unfashionable name will only get you so far regardless of ability). But it feels one we should take a chance on now. If he gets promoted with Orient he will likely already be unattainable.
-
I started with the Wellens interest months and months ago and quietly he has taken Leyton Orient all the way to the play off final as well as the FA Cup run they had. Plays decent football and has an average age of 24 in his line ups so has played a lot of youngsters including Donley and Kelman. Bigger clubs at that level, Bolton, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Peterborough, Wigan etc all behind them. He’s done a great job. It just feels like he is on the up and I get a good feeling about him. You hear a lot about the lack of good managers that made it after playing under SAF (hi RVN) and the cringy term ‘Pep disciples’. Wellens is one of the first that will have come from playing under Pearson and that can be no bad thing (Bruno Berner has been managing as well but I can’t think of others). I’d love to see him come in and build us up and if he takes advice from Pearson, it can’t be a bad thing.

Being Sheffield based I agree with your assessment here. Really the city as a whole should be going better. Apart from the Wednesday League Cup win 35 years ago, you have to go back to 1930 for either of them to have won anything (the major trophies I should add). Both were quite prolific before that. I think both have suffered from poor ownership. What is refreshing is that comparatively to other places, you only really see Utd and Wednesday shirts around the city, even with the younger generations. Not much glory supporting going on which is good. Leeds just seem to have a large fan base for an average club though. Probably due to them being quite good in the 1990’s but if they continue on the yo-yo trajectory, they won’t pick up younger fans from further afield like they would have previously. They’ve only won the same number of major trophies as us for example although weighted more in favour of League titles whereas ours are cups.

Forest 2-2 LCFC, post-match thread

Sounds awful. Hope he recovers well and quickly. Definitely needs to be a review of the offside flagging. Not to say the Lino did anything wrong but the guidances are poor and so many have expected something like this to happen. Subsequently very poorly handled by his club. Making him carry on. Just play with 10 FFS. They pretty much were anyway but player wellbeing comes first. Then being used as an excuse for the owners actions. -

Absolutely. Fair play to them. Obviously done their research and looked at how they can benefit from home advantage. Respect to them! -

I said this before. Potter and Maresca are the worst 2 managers that could face Forest from a playing into their hands perspective. Both very arrogant with being stuck to their system and less likely to adapt to who they are playing. Hopefully their turn down in form overrides this. -
Outed yourself as one of them Not that it is always easy to decipher what a crowd in a stadium are singing but it is amusing they are getting so worked up about it whilst getting what was actually sung completely wrong!

The league is very competitive through the middle part with at least 40 points from 17th upwards. It will be interesting to see who dips down. The big issue being the gap between promoted sides of course. -

Yeah I’m sure we were absolutely worse than the Brighton side they did 7-0, or the 12 points Southampton who they beat 3-2. Or other sides they beat although they don’t seem to have beaten anyone convincingly apart from Brighton. All just bluster. They were fortunate to escape with a point yesterday and were hanging on at the end. -
And you only have to look at what happened next. That was 2022, by last summer, 2 years later, Huddersfield went down into League 1 whilst Forest stayed up courtesy of an awful bottom 3 and breaking financial rules. A further year on, Huddersfield are stuck in League 1 for another year and Forest have a form of European competition. If Jon Moss had officiated the game in a fair and professional manner, Huddersfield would have had two penalties and likely gone up and the trajectories are completely different. Not to mention the goal that won them the game was a spawn deflection.

Admittedly that can be a trick of Real’s given they know what a draw they are. I think they did the same with Mbappe as well. We know it is annoying when assets leave for free. We saw it with Tielemans who we paid big money for by our standards. It is annoying but they are being over reactive in my view. Maybe it’s just hypocritical of them given they bang on about ‘you’ll never walk alone’. I suppose with the view you are highlighting, you’d probably say TAA broke this but yeah.
-
Like he’s the only player to not sign a new contract! He didn’t cost them anything, he’s given them years of service and helped them win the lot. Their supporters attitude towards him is terrible. They could have sold him before now to get a fee for him. As someone else has said, they are booing him out of bitterness that he is leaving as they can’t believe anyone would want to leave them.
-
Yes, playing him and comments he made about contracts yesterday would suggest it is not already a done deal. Not to say it won’t be but currently doesn’t appear so.

Sorry

That was the only thing I could think of noticing it was that day. Has that always been the case? I can’t think now. When we were in the final that was obviously the main concern. I suppose we shouldn’t moan as it is probably a good thing that the cup final is giving the prestige of being the only big game that day (not wanting to play down Wimbledon v Notts @spacemunky ) but yeah not having PL games taking the attention. That said, I can’t see Leicester or Ipswich fans really giving a damn about Palace v Man City. To be fair, the only FA cup final I have watched in a good 10 years was ours though. Last one apart from that was probably Wigan winning it. Probably due to the rich clubs just being so boring to watch. I would sooner watch EFL playoffs anyway!

Why’s in on Sunday? There’s no European games on in the week (not that it would effect us and Ipswich) so all the games being on Sunday is odd?
