  1. This is quite a significant point. We point to 5 years ago being the most obvious point for the decline (although many of us have said how we think it goes back further). 2020-21 - we finished 5th in the PL and won the FA cup. Ipswich finished 9th in L1. 2021-22 - we were in Europe, semi final of the Conference League, won the community shield and finished 8th in the PL. Ipswich finished 11th in L1. 4 years ago, this match would have been us as the established PL side against a side struggling to get out of L1. Fast forward, they are in the PL (obviously not established) and we are struggling in L1 with our manager seemingly being happy with a 3-1 defeat to them! Yes the performance by the young lads was good and if they kept their places (ironically probably won’t) and replicated that performance, it would probably bode well in the league games. But it’s just another one to add to the examples that illustrate our decline, along with the others like ’Stockport were in the National League North when we won the PL’ ’Wrexham were in the National League when we won the FA cup in 2021’ ’Where the f*** is Bromley’!
  2. Issue is, we don’t look particularly like constantly outscoring opponents either! It’s the old saying, goals win you games, defences win you championships. In this context, championships refers to a successful season generally. If we can’t stop the rate at which we are shipping goals over the last couple of seasons, we will not get promoted. Interestingly, one outlier to that principle is actually when we were last relegated to L1, with the second best defence! But that’s unusual.
  3. Just looked at the posts from halfway up the last page since having last been on this thread and I’m sorry @spacemunky, I had said before that you wouldn’t end up talking to yourself on the League 1 thread anymore but looks like you still will sometimes
  4. A couple of things first so you can’t play victim. Firstly, I haven’t weighed in on this debate at all. And second, I am a poster who does tend to take time to post more lengthy balanced posted rather than purely being reactive as I’m sure my history would show (not to say frustrations can’t prompt a reaction on certain occasions). But you expect to post something like 95% on this forum are morons then whinge when people have a pop at you? It’s insulting, generalising people who you know nothing about, unnecessary and childish. If you were actually interested in matured, balanced conversation, you wouldn’t be making daft comments like this.
  5. Turns out that ‘the 5’ and those connected to them are society dregs. Who knew! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdj43zkjweyo
  6. I’m not digging Golding. I agree he is only 20 and I think this is the best move. Let’s be fair, unlike with actual home grown players that are pure profit, we aren’t going to get a financial benefit from selling Golding. Either we keep him in the youth team until he walks for free or loan him out and hope he finds himself and either we do sell for a worthwhile amount or he becomes useful for us. Re KDH, we sold him for about €35 mill, which is about £30 mill, minus Goldings fee was about £25 mill we have ended up with. He’s now had a great season for Everton and shown himself as a top half PL player. I understand what you are saying about how things could have turned out, but we can only really go on what has happened. I’m not sure there is any real surprise about how KDH has gone on to do. Similarly, is there much surprise than Golding has ended up as he has? Unless you disagree and are shocked at how well KDH has gone and similarly how Golding has made no impact, that would suggest the odds of whether the overall deal between those two transfers wasn’t a very good deal for us surely?
  7. There was a poster on here recently, I shall not name for embarrassing them as they are hardcore KP. They were raving about Rudkin getting ‘profit’ for KDH. Bear in mind he was an academy player so anything is profit! But also completely ignoring that what we got for KDH, minus about £5 mill off because of this transfer at the same time.
  8. Given his contract is up next summer, surely we have to sell him? I like him but his confidence is clearly shot and being back up here is pointless. McCarthy is just awful and we are genuinely risking relegation if we give him the season. Sell Stolarcryk, put that towards a first choice, even if that’s loan to get us through, and get McCarthy out the side!
  9. So frustrating. I wouldn’t mind Leonard himself but probably in the unrealistic price range. Peterborough always know how to pick a striker out don’t they!
  10. Becomes about the wages then. If he is given daft wages relatively speaking then yes. Otherwise, you have a player who is pure profit that would have takers in L1 likely. So it’d be a bit of revenue. Alternatively, he plays well and has his head turned and leaves for free next summer. We can’t assume we can just dictate the situation.
  11. Seems linked to the events at the weekend with the scroats in the car… https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gmrz8d31mo
  12. Another 2-1 defeat seems the most likely outcome here. Last season and this, people focus on the need for a striker and rightly so, but our failings have been more, in my opinion, down to the state of the defence. Pretty much all the business we have done, McFarlane and Bristvic aside have been attacking midfielders, yet we still are incredibly weak at both ends of the field. This might be addressed with the rest of the window but as far as this game on Saturday goes, we will still likely ship at least 2.
  13. Hopefully also means Faes, Souttar and Okoli off. Given Faes hasn’t played in the league games, surely means he is off at least.
  14. Must mean the centre backs are on the way out then?
  15. The Jeremy Clarkson ‘oh no, anyway’ comes to mind here regarding the driver of the car evading the police. Hopefully the injured occupants of the car that was not involved make a full recovery https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly7ne4xegmo
  16. I don’t have the issue with him many do but it’s a no brainer to get rid and I’m surprised people are saying otherwise. Maybe this is the lack of confidence in the club to bring someone in? Anyway, as with many of the others, he is just part of the stench of failure over the last 5 years and we just need as many of those out. Financially of course as well.
  17. Drives me mad, they’ll be driving like 60mph in the 3 lane of 4, you got in the right hand lane to overtake and suddenly they start speeding! I’ve found that when someone is in the 3rd lane, when it’s quiet, I just go into the left hand lane so I’m undertaking but with a clear lane between me and them.
  18. Sounds up our street… https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx2z8v757kgo
  19. Social media but also gaming. Imagine these guys have been brought up playing driving games. When you crash, a new life pops up and off you go again. Now when those of us who had games growing (games console games), we knew they were just games. Suddenly, the introduction of social media, videos glorifying what they have played with on their consoles, they just feel like they are in the game and invincible.
  20. Didn’t know you had that career history. Fair play to you! Honestly, just look at the photos of the 2 PCs compared to the photos of the 5. Doesn’t even need any words. 2 warm and genuinely caring, happy faces. And 5 wannabe gangsters.
  21. Agreed. As I say, there’s a place for basic use, being aware of what is happening in the local area etc. But the vast majority, and the ones your mention specifically, I am yet to hear anyone have an argument for anything positive they add to society. All about influencers (talentless people who should get a real job) and damaging mental health, and now adding real dangers to our communities with the fire starting thing and now this driving stunt. We must sound about 60! Only early 30’s, promise!
  22. As @Rajsays, even worse! This is a guy who is supposed to be raising that child? I suppose the saving grace there is that that child can only have a better future not having this influence in his/her life, despite how it might feel now. Whereas the kids of the PCs are going to have such positive role models missing from their lives now. Honestly, the more that comes out about what these individuals had been doing previously, it goes to show that it is not a case of poor, misunderstood kids who did one thing wrong and paid the price. This was clearly repeated behaviour over a long period of time. Even driving at speed off road and where people could be walking. Even when you take the emotion out of it, the world is a safer and better place with them gone. The alternatives would have been them continuing to pull this shit or even if they’d been caught and prosecuted, they have been out in a few years and back at it. It’s devastating that the police officers were victims here and for all families involved. But there might be many more saved in the future directly through these and the ones in Ireland not being able to do this anymore and indirectly if the shocking nature of 2 such incidents in a week forces there to be changes aimed at preventing this happening.
  23. Yeah I’m sure most do. Absolutely heart wrenching thought though of what is has done to those 2 families On your second point, you’re absolutely correct of course. But wouldn’t want to make this political at all but yes I agree with you and what you are saying.
  24. Just for anyone who has sympathy with the 5 scroats in the car. One of the PC at least, Matthew Blades, in the statement from his wife, refers to 2 young sons. Imagine those young boys running downstairs on Saturday morning to see if their dad is home from work yet…. Imagine when their birthdays come around and the first Christmas without their dad… Then tell me you have sympathy for the ‘5’.
  25. No, this is just a daft comment. Anyone with any sense can see how bad this owner is and that a hostile fan base would be justified. A prospective owner would know it would be an easy fix to turn that around. What would put me off is a fanbase that acts as a cult following towards said failed owner. Despite how he has tanked us, you will have people who will be on any new owners back even if we literally get promoted.
