To be fair Praet has been out for a while. I do agree that he’ll be a much better option as an 8 though.

The reaction to Wednesday was justified, but probably best to relax a bit now. Got to trust that Enzo recognises we’ve been on a bit of a downward trend performance wise for a while now. Fingers crossed he’s not an Ostrich anyway!

Great post. I like Mavididi. I think there are problems in the team, but Stephy isn't one of them. Definitely has the potential to get better and better.

Well that's not a particularly hot take. When Gray was here he always looked world class when we'd play Championship teams in the cups. He'd do very very well at this level.

I have a feeling you'll probably be right but; If he can strengthen and get this system right, it can be great to watch. I'd love to see us dancing round teams like Brighton do for example. ...and Brighton couldn't beat Sheff Utd at home a couple of weeks ago!

I was thinking this to myself whilst watching last night. From what I've seen he does one thing well, and that's attack the box. If you watch him he does take up some good positions. He's not actually good at anything else. Total waste of a position for us - Often more of a hindrance than a help!

We run down most of the clock with our patient and measured build up play. No chance anyone beats us heavily this year!

You are obviously 100% correct on the first sentence. The second one though - I’m not convinced. I think most managers would do very well with a squad that is quite a bit better than say 95% of the league? It would largely be a case of making sure your team is motivated and well prepared physically…

Horrible seeing Vardy being put through in absolute classic fashion, only to not have the turn of speed to stay in front of the defender. Just heartbreaking to watch.

Definitely a good player, but a tad overrated by a lot of our fans in my opinion. Seems to go missing when we’re up against it a bit.

Huh? It's a forum designed to discuss the club - Past, present and future. Not sure where the divine right thing is coming from - Why not discuss next year and the possibility of the PL? How we'd do with the current squad, where we need to strengthen, transfers etc etc. Not many interesting things about relegation, but one of them has been getting to see the standard of the Championship up close after quite a bit of time out and comparing it to what we've been used to.

I was one of them who thought we'd struggle (very happy to admit I was wrong!)...but I do remember feeling like I was in the minority. Most seemed pretty confident we'd be one of the challengers.

Watford were a similar level to pretty much every team I've seen us play so far to be honest. Sunderland and Leeds were better (in their performances against us I mean)...but the rest were much of a muchness. Agree on Hamza. Always felt he is a 'good' Championship player, not exceptional and definitely not PL standard, but good at this level. He will be a capable cover for Winks.

Did we miss him that much on Saturday? The game was almost a carbon copy of a lot of our wins to be honest - Very dominant if a little tedious to watch at times. We did actually have a lot of attempts on goal looking at the stats so it's not like we struggled to get out and up the pitch. Don't think we need to panic about losing him again this season. He'll be needed more next season IF we manage to get up.

We’d be pretty evenly matched with the top three in that list in my opinion. The next three are better than us, but not much. The rest are definitely better at the moment. The current squad would have a pretty horrible time in the PL, but why worry about that now…. We will have out of contract players leaving and a competent manager who will know that strengthening is absolutely crucial. It’s just whether we can get the recruitment right.
