Poll: What is Riyad Mahrez worth?
Bablemikey replied to coalvillefox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Player values have been distorted by the excessive sums paid for Neymar, Coutinho and Van Dijk but I think its misleading. I'd suggest that these sums were far in excess of real value and were paid because the clubs involved felt they had a need great enough to warrant the extravagance. Those transfers were all financed by the money from PSG for Neymar. We may need another extravagant transfer fee (maybe Ronaldo) to fund another round of big transfers for Mahrez to go for our reported £90M requirement to be met. -
Man City make £50million offer for Riyad Mahrez?
Bablemikey replied to LCFCb0y's topic in Transfer Talk
I think Mahrez is unfortunate in that there are a couple of massive transfers that have happened that have elevated his perceived value to us. Sadly for him it appears that at this point in time the very few potential potential buyers in the market do not think he is worth that much and/or do not have a need great enough to pay it. -

£65 million to include a player valued by MCFC? Might as well get paid in book vouchers. -

I'd love to see the look on Fat Sam's face if we take Mangala Add a bit of spice to tonights game I'd imagine. -
None better than Gray at that so you can relax.

It's good to have 2 number 9's with different strengths. Gives Puel another viable option up top. As others have alluded to, maybe he'll be a better choice in some games. One thing that it definitely does do is give the opposing manager something more to think about - does he setup to defend the ball in behind for Vardy or defend the balls played through the midfield and wide men for Nacho. I hope he continues to improve and gives us that second option.

I'd be more than happy with 7th and this

Lets not get too carried away here. It was great to see the lad finally get some decent game time and he did come alive and score with 3 good finishes as well as contribute overall. However, it's only 1 game & not a full one at that so lets not crush him under unrealistic expectations just yet. Lets not forget that Musa scored twice against Barcelona but hasn't quite delivered on that early promise. I think that Nacho really will be an effective attacker but he needs developing, and I think he might just be in the right place for that now.

Leicester v Fleetwood - FA Cup Replay Pre-match Thread
Bablemikey replied to Wymsey's topic in Leicester City Forum
Me too. Europe via 7th place looks a more likely route to me. -
Off the top of my head I'd probably say Martin o'Neill, Steve Walsh (player), Muzzy, Vardy & Mahrez, Claudio, maybe Claridge for the league 1 final and League cup goal, probably Pearson too.

King absolutely deserves respect but in my eyes he has not been anywhere near influential enough in the destiny and achievements of the club to be given the status of "legend".

Fleetwood Town (A) 0-0 FA Cup 3rd Round
Bablemikey replied to urban.spaceman's topic in Leicester City Forum
Having lost 3 starting players in Morgan, Simpson, and Vardy over the last few games Puel was absolutely correct in leaving out as many of the first 11 as he could whilst still fielding a side to capable of beating Fleetwood. The demands of the last few weeks and fatigue are surely contributory factors in the injuries suffered. Not just to our players but others also. -
Loved Narcos, all of 'em! Couldn't stand Stranger Things, Mr Robot, second season of Man In The High Castle. Didn't particularly like Game Of Thrones at first but my son insisted I persisted and I'm glad I did Badlands is a really cool leave-your-brain-behind show with an excellent bad guy portrayal. Liked The Americans but the last season just ran out of steam for me. Preacher is awesome, Walking Dead was awesome, went stale in the middle for a season or two but improved once Negan and his mates came around. I enjoyed the first seasons of Chance and Mindhunter on Amazon, and The Exorcist series on Sky SyFy I think it is. All the Fargo seasons are excellent and finally I would recommend The Night Manager on Amazon.

I expect Burnley to fall away, they just don't score enough goals. Everton though will be stronger this year but we will get 7th if we just improve our defence of set plays.

Mahrez is the player that differentiates our team from almost all others outside the top 6. Losing him would be like Spurs losing Kane in my view and I highly doubt we would be fortunate enough again to uncover another unknown replace him. As the post above suggests, this is indeed a critical moment where, if we can retain Mahrez and land another outstanding talent the club can absolutely push forward. Failure to do so though and Mahrez will go to seek his fortune elsewhere and we will become just another also ran in the Premiership.

Iheanacho has to start surely. Give the bloke some chance at least to get his game going.

What does LC need to become a top-6 side?
Bablemikey replied to vanity's topic in Leicester City Forum
If we're gonna have 2 free beers per game we'll higher capacity loo's too. It's hard enough getting a half time pee as it is!! -
Its too early to judge how Puels management will work out but I'm pretty happy with the points he's won and delighted with the way we are increasingly playing passing football. It's really entertaining to watch and I'm enjoying going to the games again.
-
I think this is a really crucial point actually. As we all know, it is extremely difficult to break into the top 6 and even harder to stay there so if we have any ambition of doing so we must do everything possible to recruit the best players. Obvious, I know, but we are doing pretty well right now and still have an outstanding talent in Mahrez so if we can add further outstanding talent we have a platform to go forward, and will also increase our attractiveness to other outstanding talent. If we cannot do this then we will always be losing our best players and be perpetually going one step forwards and two steps back a la Southampton.

Liverpool 2 Leicester 1 post match thread

The team looked physically & mentally fatigued in the second half & I’m expecting an under par performance against Huddersfield. -
I still think we're going to finish top 8. Am I mad?
Bablemikey replied to a topic in Leicester City Forum
we need to find a way to stop conceding from set plays if we have any ambition of moving forwards. -
You’re both wrong, it was clearly a shot!!

The Palace game at the weekend is on Sky but the away game at Southampton is not being shown on UK TV anywhere as far as I can see.
