Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

I doubt Palace will want go to what Southampton want, which is £50m. Southampton have been rejecting bids as the hold out for more. Palace have to act quick so I’d imagine they’ll step up their interest to get a replacement in first and quickly. -
Compare and contrast relying on media usually once it’s happened (teletext 👀) or the paper you receive once a day and contrast to the constant cycle of updates from often inaccurate sources across multiple platforms all this to try and gain clicks due to the insane demand of needing to know constantly with F5 refreshing constantly in the hope of news or a fortune topic turning hot for positive news rather than hilarious puns. I’ll be honest early part of this summer I had been doing up my house and went away etc. Stayed off here and social media, it makes a difference and I didn’t really miss all the crap going on and the mass hysteria created to divide. It probably has hit foxes fans a little harder due to the complete radio silence from the club and lack of positive activity and like some have said this has only led to speculation and anger fuelled by a instant news cycle driven by fake reports and opinion. I know some on here hardly if ever post, Babylon for example (won’t tag) but I got the feeling he was better away from it. The football is meant to be the outlet I look forward to and social media shouldn’t be filling the void.

Isn't this exactly what we heard earlier and we’re led to believe we’ve confirmed we don’t want to sell and want more than that figure quoted.

Funnily enough Percy just tweeted that palace are restructuring with a sporting director replacing Freedman. Another club we could only aspire to right now and sadly able to poach our best technical player with a high ceiling. -
Very good post. The bottom line is the club need to support Marti to bring some players in to refresh the squad and theoretically bring existing players up to 4’s getting rid of the 1’s. And yes we have to get rid of the players that don’t want to be here otherwise things will go from bad to worse. Get a motivated team that maybe isn’t as talented is where we want to position ourselves in a reset at the bare minimum if the club can’t invest huge sums. That team with fan support will do a lot better than the current crop.

It was hypothetical and also the reported 7m / 9m fee would be a huge gain for our PSR position. And of course could make the difference between needing to sell those other players or being able to hang onto them. -

I’m the scheme of things the idea of prioritising 3 points after two games to millions of pounds of income helping us to presumably meet PSR or invest into the rest of the squad seems a little weird. Aluko would have been fine. -
To be honest I think it be best for some to keep away from this forum /social for the next week or so.
-
In fairness to the latter two, it be silly to lump them into the not knowing anything crowd. They're definitely being given information by agents / clubs. Based on Sunderland's approach to recruitment stats analysis signing young and hungry players - Fatawu would have been on a shortlist I'm sure. Now they're premier league they're showing ambition !

We're the architect of our own downfall constantly. Imagine if the fund we could have got for him means we've got to sell both Fats and Bilal or we can spend anything prior to the closure of the window. Unless the talk of this being advanced was BS, then it makes no sense why he was included. -
One hopes it is one or the other and not both, with the key factor being time. With most things nowadays the club drags things on, IMO intentionally to leave ourselves with limited time but be seen to try and sign some players. I'd like to think my opinion is baseless speculation and we make a late flourish in the market but based on the pattern in the last 4 years I wouldn't be surprised that they know they can't spend anything but see this as the best approach.

After all the rumours it appears we only have palace bidding. We have no negotiating position whatsoever. We’re not saying in the press we don’t want to sell or have no need to sell, because of PSR and so clubs know this and will get him as cheap as they can - unlike Hutchinson who lots seem to want, to compare this to that we should be reaching £30m+. I think Bilal will be better than him but the club don’t have a leg to stand on and all its own making, so we likely not getting the figure some of you think we should achieve. What’s worse, we’ll drag this on and will the be limited in time to sign anyone ourselves. You’d think it be in our own interest to conclude this quickly if we do indeed do need to sell to at least buy. -
Said it as soon as interest came in and then when he didn’t celebrate his attitude and effort like with a lot is what’s killing our club. We’re in huge trouble. Sadly the club should be doing all they can to shift him and his ilk and getting others in. But with a few weeks left we know Rudkin isn’t getting this done. Soumare, Skipp and Winks. We’re fcked.

This. We need to let go of the insecure feeling that we need to go up at any cost and once again not give the young players to get more game time and develop. We shouldn’t be letting players go for free at the end of their contract we can’t afford to do that. Imagine players leaving and then we have players having not developed who then want game time but know whoever we then bring it jumps ahead of them. Give them a chance I’d rather see us lose trying than see us lose with those players he couldn’t care less. I don’t lump JJ in that last bit, I like him and always gave he’s best and will be sad to see a consummate professional leave. Scored some cracking goals in his time. -
But he did down tools at the backend, we got relegated and he left for nothing. Like history on repeat. Winks isn’t a bad player but his attitude is far from what we need right now.
-
Fat chance you get this nuanced critique of our players especially from the ones who clearly deserve more reserved judgement. Unlike say Soumare who seems to have played constantly and consistently performed doggo Will Alves has not been given a chance. Yet he’s had it according to some. Imagine being judged on your performances while the rest of your team mates are consistently shite but your expected to perform miracles from the few chances you get because those that judge you expect you to single handily assist and score like your Messi. He needs more chances and he needs to be afforded some support by his own fan base. We need the dross out and we need to give the likes of will a chance but for god sake get used to us not be title challengers that way we may just give a certain core of players time and support to reach their potential.
-
Absolutely We’re going to find ourselves in a continuous downward spiral as the manager appears to be working with an average squad with an attitude problem unless the board changes or the manager can make changes that may seem unpopular. Sometimes to move forward you make changes that in the short term seem counterproductive. The club for all its faults need to allow the manager to do that and not come out in support of the players who need to be moved on. As a club our standards have slipped substantially and this is against the backdrop of some fans who still think it’s capable of going straight backup. Unlike under Enzo we’re NOT the best club in this league and the signs are ominous with the quality we have across the pitch and the strong suspicion that the club have no intention to refresh the squad unless they move on. After only a month, how can any manager change what has clearly been there for a long long time. Manage your expectations it helps.
-
And this is why I couldn’t care less if he is sold. We’ve had issues with mediocre players who have half arsed attitudes and our fans are using employment law to defend it. Jesus wept. Final year, get what we can and move on, if we struggle I’ve gone past caring. Especially about the feelings of players preference to their life outside of the club, like their dogs mental well being as another example. Whether we can rely on the board not to pay overinflated prices and wages for players who don’t want to be here is another matter. Burn it all.
-
Soumare isn’t fit for purpose.
-
And some get their knickers in a twist at the mere suggestion he should be sold…
-
How do you know he's had anything to do with this 'new' approach - something we didn't seem to be doing last year and now he's suddenly off..

What gave you the false sense of security after everything that has happened in the last few years and the 2nd relegation on the bounce with PSR again hanging over our heads - that the club would go all out to keep our best players in the hope of success with players then leaving for nothing at the end of the season (sound familiar) with no guarantee of anything. And this is after zero communication the whole close season and delayed actions to clearly ensure compliance with the football reporting periods. I honestly thought going into this season we would have to sell and utilise youth accepting we may not go straight back up. I would despise the owners - even more than I do now - to see them bank the future of the club they’re clearly unable to keep bank rolling in the hope that we outspend our rivals in the hope of promotion. Then go into a prem season unprepared again as our board struggle to recruit a whole squad at prem standard like they’ve done for numerous transfer windows now.
