Andy King vs Swansea

He's hardly a Welshman just because his granddad is Welsh, though I don't see the point of this post anyway, thought it was going to be another thread where we wank over how good he was today, which would have been welcomed

He's as Welsh as my left bollock. Easy caps for him so fair play.

Me and my mates (who have watched King for years) are not sure whether we've ever seem him play better than he did today.

He was immense.

Defensively, breaking up so many attacks.

Offensively, passing it around and scoring the goal.

So happy for him today.

He was a man on a mission today. I love it so much when he plays like that.

He broke up play, covered defensively, burst forward at the right times, got into attacking positions like he used to in the Championship and League One and was so calm and assured in possession.

To be honest I'm not sure why he lost his place at the start of the season. He played very well in the early games.

Business as usual for him. Granted he was above his normal levels but that's what his game is all about. Simple but incredibly effective. He's a classy player. The hyperbole around his performance today is because of the situation we're in and the fact when he made those interceptions/tackles/passes their impact was more noticeable.

He's not been outstanding this season but he's also looked like the player who's been most comfortable stepping up to the Premier League.

Nice to see Drinky looking sharp today and with James being solid this season, we've got a strong middle that will only get better.

One of the best all round performances of his Leicester career.

In fact, the first half WAS his best performance in a Leicester shirt. Terrific on the ball, and in the tackle.

Every call Pearson is making in this run is working, full credit for Kingy having the opportunity in the first place.

Was it last season or the season before where he became so much more bigger over the summer. Clearly he has worked on his defensive side and physical attributes, and his ability to time his runs and be in the right place at the right time has always been there. Definitely Leicester's Frank Lampard.  ;)

Or it couldn be because he played really well last week, and James is knackered?

This.

And he was fantastic off the bench vs West Ham & West Brom.

One of the best matches I've ever seen him have. There has long been talk that he is more of a Premiership than football league type of player and he seems to be proving it.

Hyperbole is a bit unfair mate.

We've watched King for years haven't we, and I can hand on heart say be not seen him put in a better overall 90 mins than yesterday.

He's the perfect partner for Cambiasso really. King gets about the pitch much more quickly than people give him credit for, he's one of the best tacklers at the club, rarely concedes free kicks and is a goal threat, of course.

I thought he was absolutely brilliant yesterday. As was Esteban.

I don't think it is. You know I've always been a massive fan but where were all these other people before? Not to say that if you've (not directed at you but in a more general sense) not been a huge fan before you can't credit his performance today. I think the acclaim he's receiving today is, as I said, heightened by our league position and positive mood as fans. Personally, I feel that I've seen him play better than that on many occasions, I guess its down to the magnitude of the game and his team-mates performing at a similar level that has made him look top class today.

I thought he was really good but he didn't play that differently from usual today and that is what some are suggesting. It was simply that those tackles he made were crunching ones, whereas he normally sticks a foot in or does enough to hold up the opposition, and his sideways passes were often into space for the full backs/wing backs to attack, primarily because of the attack threat we carried.

Where's this acknowledgement of his defensive capabilities come from?!  :P  As I've said all along, its his ability to read the game and his decision making that gives him the ability to be a real success in this league.

Another 6 of those will do nicely   :scarf:  :pearson:

If you could compare him to another premier league player in style who would it be?

For me he's quite similar to Lampard, does the simple things well and ghosts in to position really intelligently. If he could add more goals to his game he won't have to play in the championship for a good few years

King had a good game. When he is dynamic like that he is a premiership quality midfielder. He just has a habit of being too conservative. He's far more composed than Matty James so it would be great to see a King - Cambiasso partnership in the high pressure games we have ahead so long as both remain on form and fit.

Absolutely for me he is one of our very best players, glad he's playing more now, two goals at this stage of the season is worth so much, hope his reign continues, he'll only get better with game time next to cambiasso.
