glenelgfox Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Konchesky should never play again. He proved he is a train wreck, slow, indecisive and turns the ball over repeatedly. King has shown in past few games he belongs in the midfield. IMO he has gone ahead of Drinky and James.

Drinky wasn't at this best yesterday (I thought he was terrific when he came on against Swansea). I'm not sure what's happended to him. Hoping it's just a blip and we can stay in this division so the Premiership can be his stage next season.

Not that it matters too much since we won, but the distribution from him is so bad it costs us -10% possession whenever he plays.
Dickov22 Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Sooooooo undeserved, but thank god Pearson is so lucky, his tactics against an inferior side were once again embarrassing. Instead of being positive and taking the game to them which has served us well, we invite pressure for 80 minutes and play hoofball. Phew Do you understand football at all? Difficult to disagree. Drinky wasn't at this best yesterday (I thought he was terrific when he came on against Swansea). I'm not sure what's happended to him. Hoping it's just a blip and we can stay in this division so the Premiership can be his stage next season. Dd broke up play time and time again. It was a scrappy game, and I thought he did well.

Just don't want to see him play for us. Useless
MC Prussian Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 That teasing trout got everything it deserved and you know it Who was the gesture aimed at?
HighPeakFox Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 I wasn't at the match - but my heart sank a bit when I saw no Nuge and Schlupp, and Konchesky playing..........the result is in the book, and should LCFC stay up, nobody will care that they were scrappy in winning it. Was amused that Alan 'expert' Shearer was almost as angry about the performance as he was at the Villa cup-tie..... However, perhaps this goes some way to proving the worth of Nuge and Schlupp, and there was never going to be free-flowing attacking play without them. One more thing - certain people keep giving it the '....if we'd played this way all season......' line. Whether they are right or wrong, it is utterly and completely pointless to twat on about this now. Look forward and enjoy the now.......
dedlock Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 A scruffy win at last.In November or December this would have been a scruffy loss. The rot set in conceding that late equaliser at home to Burnley,so these were 3 good points even if won ugly. 2 more wins should see us safe, particularly if we can make up goal difference on Hull.
Vicki Vixen Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 My point is we did not play the pressing, high tempo game that we had done for the previously three wins. That is where we are at our best. We were passive, and on the whole we were outplayed by a shit Burnley side. We won not by our own design but solely down to good fortune, and some great saves by Kasper. We were second best yesterday. Deal with it! I'm simply saying we cannot afford to play like that, otherwise we will struggle to win another game. We have to be more aggressive and make things happen. Now WTF are you on about you disabled You can't play a high pressing game against a team playing long balls at every opportunity. Yes we should have used our extra man in central midfield more effectively when we had possession. But I can't see how you can criticise our gameplan when we did not have the ball. We managed Burnley very well and, individual errors aside, we completely stopped their main attacking threats which were knock downs from long balls and crosses into the box from Trippier.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 We play best with pace, energy and determination. Two of our paciest, most energetic and determined players were out injured. We were playing a team also battling for their survival away instead of a mid-table side with nothing to play for in front of 30,000 noisy Leicester fans. It was always going to be a very different game. I'll feel happier when Jeff and Nuge are back, play like we did against Swansea when we play Newcastle on Saturday and we'll crush them.

Now WTF are you on about you disabled Burnley sit deep and play long balls, our high pressing game would not have worked in this game, we had to slightly change our approach. We did that very well and took home the three points. I don't buy the we got lucky, can you point to a point in the game where we got lucky? Our goal was down to an outstanding cross from Albrighton which have their defender no choice but to stick out a leg, Vardy followed up like all good forwards should. Kaspers saves were down to his quality not luck. The penalty miss just meant Taylor didn't have the quality to score from 12 yards. People have been talking about luck all season things that are down to luck are dodgy refereeing decisions or wicked deflections, everything else is down to skill on the day we had the quality to score Burnley didn't. Also bar the penalty, did Konchesky really have that bad a game? Yes it was an error for the penalty but I can't think of anything else he did wrong the whole game. Burnley did nothing down his side.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Banging on about Morgan pushing and shoving?? Mee had the wind up his ass all game, by far the most aggressive player on the park. And anyone who uses the word 'cheaters' has to be about 8 years old. Agreed in the main. However, I do think Ulloa does far too much either falling over, giving needless fouls away, rolling around when he's hardly been touched which I do not like to see. It's very much out of character for our side. While I'm on Ulloa. Why is he completely knackered by the 50 minute mark EVERY game? Kevin Phillips said that when he arrived from Brighton he wasn't at all fit, and he had to do extra training. Now we are using up a sub cus he can't do a full game. What's that all about at this level?
Aus Fox Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Also over 4 hours since we last conceded a goal!! What wobbly defence hey!

Next Saturday could (or should) see a big swing in our goal difference compared with Dulls.. I'm going for a 3-0 win against Newcastle and for them to lose 0-2 against arsenal.. A 5 goal swing!!!!

Them playing long balls suited our central defenders up against Ings - so I have can't agree with your first sentence. That being the case We should have used the midfield better to play OUR game rather than often by passing the midfield and hoofing it up to Ulloa. I think that was the root of the problem. Often we were playing with one up front - That's been proven to be very ineffective for us in the past. Glad to he the win and a slice of luck for once though.

We have to be more aggressive and make things happen. Now WTF are you on about you disabled We didn't play high-tempo against West Brom (certainly not for the first half), the change happened when Pearson switched to three centre-backs instead of a line of four, allowing us to flood the midfield. And just like against West Ham, we were lucky to a certain extent to snatch a later winner. What makes this team so exciting to watch and this is why I am hopeful of a positive outcome this season is that the players never give and in all previous games (bar Swansea away) have given it their best shot. The willingness and workrate was always there, now we're reaping the rewards for that attitude. It has little to do with speed or pressing, more with composure and discipline (we're one of the best teams in the division in terms of bookings, for instance). Outplayed is a bit far-fetched. Yes, at times they were close to strangling us in our own half, but we held up our own pretty well again and on the whole, I thought a draw would've been a fair result. Good fortune may have played a part in our goal, but the build-up was excellent (header from Cambiasso (?) to Albrighton, then his low cross into the box) and well-applied. Bad luck for Duff and Heaton, but for this to happen you also need a striker like Jamie Vardy who knows how he's got to position himself to convert a rebound. We certainly won't play like that against Chelsea, that's for sure.

We had nothing to lose, and had no choice but go for it. By the time yesterday's game came around, our situation was completely different. We couldn't afford to lose, but it wasn't a must win, because we've got ourselves back in it. Therefore, it was a tight scrappy game where the most important thing was not to lose. We needed to keep our shape and not concede. Players are human, they're not going to be 100% brilliant every game. We probably didn't deserve to win yesterday. But we've certainly had our fair share of harsh defeats where we've played well, only to lose.

Give some credit to Burnley too - they were well up for it and pressed us as much as we pressed them. It was a tight game (as everyone knew it would be) and we scraped it. Cracking. Now let's do Chelsea.
Callabinho Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 That penalty miss - our goal was poetry in motion.
foxfanazer Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 You can criticise the quality of football yesterday but the mental strength shown gives me even morr hope that we'll beat the drop. When you're scrapping for survival the football isn't always going to pretty like it was against Swansea.
iancognito Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 "Boss....boss....I can't breathe..............seriously though.........." Sean from Enderby on the post-match phone-in. What was he saying?

I'm not on here for a slanging match mate, all I'm saying is I didn't think in terms of trying to win the game we did enough, and that inevitably puts us on the back foot which doesn't suit us. I agree the last three were shit or bust games but that seems to be the only reason Pearson 'found' our winning formula again. You agree with me we were lucky to win the game, against a poor side. We are better than that, but there is a correlation to our winning games and us setting out to win games. Every time we don't start with that mentality we play poorly. We got away with it yesterday, but more of that and we will be back in the shit. IMO if that's ok - me 'knowing nothing about football' notwithstanding
