John Carver

Following frank and open discussions with the board and senior players the decision has been made that Carver remains in post for the remainder of the season.

I wouldn't want to wish relegation on any team but surely this will help our cause, thoughts?

Can't believe he's not gone. On his record alone without his terrible management skills.

Hopefully this will send Newcastle down - not that I have anything against them I just want any team except Leicester to fill that final relegation spot.

Change of manager WOULD have got theù at least 1 win.

Is Ashley a Newcastle fan? This decision is another indicator that he doesn't actually care. Newcastle are heading in one direction under the leadership of Ashley and Carver and that's relegation again.

Spurs fan I think.

It could either be a huge mistake or the wake-up call they so patently need.

My money's on the former, he's clearly lost the dressing room and it's tough to see where the points are coming from.

If they don't get a win in the next two, it'll be a nervy last day of the season at SJP. Big Sam will be in no mood to do them any favours, it's probably for the best that Carroll's injured as that would have been the final insult.

It's not just his man management, I don't think he actually knows what he's doing tactically either. They are trying to play tricky formations like the diamond away from home, I think they should be trying to keep it simple which is what Sherwood has done at Villa, got them going a little more direct and it's made them a goal threat.

Presumably McClaren didn't want the job.

The diamond did nothing but give Albrighton, Vardy and Mahrez acres of space to run into.

It was only really Tim Krul who stopped it from being an absolute rout - that save from Ulloa at point blank range has been overlooked due to the sheer ineptitude of those around him, but it was a cracking stop.

If they go down it'll cost him millions, you don't have to be a fan to care about that

He sounds like a fan, saying the things we'd say after matches. Only we have bugger all influence on the players and aren't the face of the club. As much as you want them to, the managers can't actually be honest in public.

But the tactics were bizarre. They seemed to have no game plan, I had no idea if they came to attack against us or defend. Going on about how much of a fan you are means nothing when your set up isn't particularly clear to anyone.

Yes. We really should have scored from open play. Perhaps that is the only slight worry I have at the moment, our finishing can be poor. Reckon if King was fit he'd have scored one.

He's so clearly out of his depth. No matter how you feel, you can't accuse your own player like that of trying to get sent off on purpose. It doesn't matter how much you think it.

Was it Gutierrez we saw giving the team talk in the tunnel before the game?

That says it all...

The players haven't played for him, he knows he's got another 3 games maximum. In those circumstances I might get a few digs in at the players too. Who knows maybe it'll get a reaction from them.

The way you get players on your side of to take the pressure off them in public and support them... Worked wonders for Pearson. And then you deal with disciplinary issues in private.

He's a woeful manager, terrible tactician and hasn't a clue how to motivate the players.

Has to be said though, Ashley has to take some of the blame for appointing someone so incompetent.

He's tried that and it hasn't worked.

embarrassing your players and team in public like that hasn't ever worked either. It's clear all the players are against him otherwise they wouldn't be doing team talks away from him in the tunnel before the game.. I mean how are they going to react to their team mate spoken about like that in public. It's naive of carver at best to think it could have a positive affect...when the pressure was on for us, Pearson stayed calm and took the attention on to himself he didn't pile it in to his players..

That's the thing, we were probably unfortunate that we didn't score from open play. Vardy alone could have had a couple but for good goalkeeping, and Ulloa could have had a hat-trick. If not for some quality stops from Krul, we could have won 6-0 without even playing our best and missing two key players in King and Nugent.

I remember saying at the end of the game that I haven't seen a team so toothless at the KP since we mullered Charlton 3-0 last season, they may even have been worse than that. Small wonder the Newcastle fans were so enraged at the end.

I don't think Newcastle were as bad as everybody is saying.

After we went 2-0 up they had the best of the rest of the half and really should of scored on a few occasions.

The penalty and sending off killed them off, but could have been very different if it had of gone 2-1 when Riviere fell over.

But he did fall over. They were crap. You can't say "x side weren't that bad if only this, this and this happened." They did happen and the reason for it is ineptitude.

That Riviere is dogshit, surely there's a kid somewhere up there who could do a better job than him?

When he fell over that was absolutely fantastic. They were garbage and will continue to be garbage. Of all the 5 teams in it they are the ones who most deserve to go down imo. Hopefully the fans will do what Blackpools did and get them a few points deducted to make absolute certain of it.

That's easy to say now but when they had that great run before the new year it wasn't true.

The prem season is 38 games long and teams need to be judged on all 38.
