Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Union FS made their new website live last night - http://www.unionfs.co.uk I think the people who run Union FS have done a brilliant job so far and it's great that they've now got a website to match. The website hosts a 50-page mini-book I've written about the period between February and May, which I wanted to put out there for anyone who wants to have a read. This is a diary I started writing at the time. It got difficult at one stage when it looked like it was just going to be a catalogue of misery, but it was worth persevering and actually, I hope, ends up being a worthwhile record of an important time in our club's history. It finally clocked in at just under 23,000 words. http://www.unionfs.co.uk/the-greatest-escape.html - (click the button in the bottom right) I'm also indebted to ttfn who gave extremely valuable feedback as part of the writing process. All feedback gratefully received. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 June 2015 Author Posted 4 June 2015 Could I download it to a Kindle app? Good question - I figured if there was enough interest I could look into converting it from a Word doc or PDF into ePub or something like that. I'm not sure how it works but I'll give it a go when I get a chance.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Looking at the tifo pics again - really shows what a great set of fans we have. Where other clubs would put together a 'manager out' campaign, our lot went for a clear statement of backing the club. Long may it continue.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 (I'll read that 50 page summary when I'm not killing a few short minutes at work!)
Rincewind Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Its quite easy to do with Amazon. They take you through the steps. If you don't want to charge you could always ask for a donation to a charity. Don't know how that would be done through Amazon though.

Cheers.
Babylon Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I'm also indebted to ttfn who gave extremely valuable feedback as part of the writing process. I'm still on page 4... you'll get mine in about 2017
General Smuts Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 What if you can't read? Can you convert it to audiobook and have Alan Young read it? Asking for a friend.
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Could I download it to a Kindle app?I've downloaded it directly from the website to the kindle app on my iPad. I should imagine you'd be able to do the same on your mobile. Also you're kindle app will have an email address, download it on your PC and email to the app.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Absolutely brilliant - great stuff! Thanks! **Nit-pick alert** - it's just a massive wall of text...with the club's permission could you put some matchday pics in there?
BrummieFOX Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Such an enjoyable read! Thanks a lot for sharing it. Agree that it could do with a few pictures and with some it could quite easily be published into a mini book of the Greatest Escape.
thursday_next Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Well done, fez of mahrez and ttfn. I joined the forum just so I can say that's one of the best pieces of LCFC writing that I have ever seen.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Love the Peter Swan quote at the foot of page 14 Great read so far.
Narborough_fox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Been reading in bits during my revision breaks. Certainly been making them more enjoyable than they have been recently.
PaulW Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 "Plenty had happened but nothing had changed" That is a wonderful phrase!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 June 2015 Author Posted 4 June 2015 Cheers all! Amazed that some people have read the whole thing already It's a very good point about the pictures. If anyone has any that they've taken at the games I've written about that they'd like to contribute then maybe we could use this as a basis and come up with a bit of a collaborative effort to make it look a lot better.
