thpike Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 Yeah I agree with this. Bookies are very wary of any "information" and so react quickly. Remember how many managers have been massively odds on to go somewhere then something changes. Seen it on more than one occasion. How else are they supposed to make money? It kind of is in the nature of their profession to do so.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 No way in hell is Nige getting the sack. Piss off English Press

Remember how many managers have been massively odds on to go somewhere then something changes. Seen it on more than one occasion. it's because often there's nothing to go off other than "info", especially at a time when there are no games/results. there's no "form" to price things up atm, there's not a lot of market interest or movement, then suddenly someone hears "something" and has a few decent bets. 5/1 ---> 1/1000 "just in case". yep, when i used to work in william hill we used to laugh every monday morning as big sam went an even bigger shade of odds on to go next, yet lasted about 5 years. bet it's that fvcking lot on bentley's just betting out of sheer hope.
cjslcfc Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 How else are they supposed to make money? It kind of is in the nature of their profession to do so. By offering poor odds and having lots of fixed odds terminals in shops!
Albert Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 In my opinion yeah. Just can't get my head round why he'd suddenly go if that was still in the air. Also wouldn't make sense in us signing two players recently if this was going to be an issue. If he was to leave it would be for health reasons and nothing to do with the Thailand incident. There was a rumour he was going to step down after we had been promoted because of a heart condition.

Dan Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 Bloody press can piss off love how they all get so high and mighty when by and large they're just a gang of shit-stirring nonces who are lucky to get the time of day from managers that they get already.
Craig Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 It's one thing Pearson's odds dropping like a stone, but look at the other managers... Rodgers was 4/1 earlier, now he's 20/1 since Pearson moved to 1/10. The ****ing Watford manager (and we know how they love a managerial casualty) was 7/1 earlier and now he's 25/1. Sure, they may panic into dropping his odds, but the others rising like that? Must be something really really significant put on.
ramboacdc Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 only just saw this, been off the radar for a week. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/next-manager-to-leave-post the reason for it i think is the thailand trip and the fact it was his son. its going to have frayed the connections i think.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 My flatmate is a bookie and he said it could be suspicious betting driving the market - e.g. One person trying to put £10k on it, and even if a bookie refuses the odds are reported to the industry - and the market reacts... So it seems a small amount of people somewhere know or think they know something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's quite re-assuring to read. Know that you know your stuff in this regard.
RowlattsFox Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 ****s sake, why can't things go smoothly. These stories usually have something in them, but we learnt last time that it's not always correct. Strange timing if true.
cjslcfc Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 The more I think about it, the more I think some bookie somewhere is trying to make money out of spreading false info...
The Horse's Mouth Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 skybet have claimed it is due to a flurry of bets, if he genuinely was leaving for either health reasons or the thailand incident. He would have been gone, rather than being able to make additions. although I imagine Okazaki was more of a board signing.
Footnote75 Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 He's gone: Leicester City@OfficialFOXES 7:30 PM BREAKING: Leicester City has today relieved its First Team Manager, Nigel Pearson, of his duties. More follows…
ScouseFox Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 That's quite re-assuring to read. Know that you know your stuff in this regard. might be way off and he might have already gone and it not been announced yet, but just off the top of my head in the past year or so, heavily backed, odds on to go managers who didn't go include; rodgers, big sam (numerous times in the past two or three years), pardew (same as big sam), and most obvious of all pearson himself. all still have/stayed in their jobs past the big bets. i think it's interesting that most bookies have reacted by simply closing the market rather than shortening the odds on pearson. you'd think they'd only "close" the market if a) he was already gone and they were forming a new market (although they'd all be closed then, you can still bet on sky & betfair so surely this isn't the case) or b) nobody has a clue what's going on and the bookies don't want to lose out anywhere so just stop you betting altogether, cos they've had a few big bets and can't work out why. edit - or he might have gone. what a waste of typing that was .
EnderbyFox Posted 30 June 2015 Posted 30 June 2015 IF he has gone, I wonder how it will affect the possibility of Cambiasso taking another year?
