FireFox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 I saw someone once say it was because Nigel didn't like him being on relatively high wages
foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Vardy and Albrighton to star for England at the Euros Just goes to show what a player can achieve when they move away from Villa. can't believe villa sold him haha, better than anything they have got
FireFox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 can't believe villa sold him haha, better than anything they have got They didn't even sell him! They didn't offer him a new contract! Said he wasn't in their plans for the future... I guess they have plans to be relegated in the near future
Benguin Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Deserves a call up imo. Would love to see it happen as it's only going to add to his confidence/form.
HighPeakFox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Unless I'm mistaken, Guppy got precisely one England cap - total tokenism by Keegan as I recall and never seen again for England, and that at a time when England had no natural left-sided players of any class at all. I had always thought Keegan was a berk, this just confirmed it..........

We had players like Beckham, Scholes, Butt Anderton, Redknapp, Mcmanaman, Ince and as much as Leicester fans hated him - Wise etc. in midfield in those days. All of whom were far better than Guppy. Guppy was a decent player for us, but some Leicester fan's bias to our players is pretty staggering.

Guppy was a decent player for us, but some Leicester fan's bias to our players is pretty staggering. Those players may have been better than Guppy overall but none were natural left sided players. England were struggling at the time and were trying all sorts of options for the left side whilst Guppy, a natural left footed player, regularly playing in the prem couldn't get a look in. IMO it's because his face didn't fit and he wasn't the most fashionable looking player.
bovril Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 That he's been dead for 130 odd years probably didn't help. Great on the left wing.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Yesterday Albrighton was fantastic. Walker could not handle him. Albrightons defensive efforts were faultless, im awate Mahrez will be getting the headlines again because he has more ability finishing a move, however for a complete wing performance Albrighton was for me head and shoulders the best player on the pitch. I think that purely because the question has been asked, and that Albrightons form has coincided with our own is reason enough for him to be considered for England. Hodgson was at Leicester yesterday to no doubt view, Kane & vardy, he must have been impressed yesterday also with Marc. I would not be suprised to see him involved with the squad for the next internationals.
Hack Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 I think he defiantly would not be out of place playing for England. Good on either wing and probably has the best cross in the PL. So if England were to play a bigger striker to take advantage of his delivery then he should be in the squad.
Wymsey Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 The only real fault in him is that his attacking positioning can be weak at times.
foxfanazer Posted 23 August 2015 Posted 23 August 2015 Depending on who they play up front he could do a job. Struggle to think of a better crosser of the ball in the prem
