Webbo Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Maybe it's because we're not used to such quality, but, to me, his crosses are simply phenomenal.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 He was wrote off far too quickly by a lot of fans after a few brief appearances last season. His work rate and desire are everything you want to see in a player that represents your club. Why is there always one extreme to the other by the way? One minute fans saying he should be back at Wigan, the next calling for an England call up?
MPH Posted 10 August 2015 Posted 10 August 2015 Was/ is Vardy god enough to play for England? Half of answering the questions is assessing who the other options are,,,,
fuchsntf Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Long answer... NO.!! Could well turn out to be one of our legends from the new era.He needs at least another half a season of quality performances, and his club in the footballing headlines. From this club, needs to leave and run in the spors of Guppy, L.Glover, crossers like Rofe and whitworth, maybe then his name might get mentioned in England circles. But at present he is a little jewel though ...aint he???
RedSoxUK Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Thing is, is he better than Andros Townsend and James Milner? Andros Townsend yes, James Milner ofcourse not, but Milner plays doesn't play on the right.
Foxhateram Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 The question is why didn't Pearson play Albrighton consistently much earlier in the season? Perplexing one that. Personal issues on Albrightons side. See my previous posts.
Babylon Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 The question is why didn't Pearson play Albrighton consistently much earlier in the season? Perplexing one that. There could be any number of reasons, it's only perplexing because you don't know the inner workings. For all we know, he learnt he needed to put in the extra effort or he wouldn't play during his time out. He could have learnt he needed to be fitter or he wouldn't play, he could have changed his mentality to fit in with the team ethic we have.
artursteppe Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Oxlade Chamberlain is a liability, and poor at tracking back, as are most of the wide men mentioned in comparison to Albrighton. Depending on what assets England might want from a wide man Albrighton is way in front for crossing ability, work rate and defensive capabilities. The England squad position he would take would be that of Milner. I think a very close call, and Marc is getting better all the time. Every chance he could be called up at some stage.
stuartn27 Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Crosses the ball bit like stev guppy, for those who remember him He got a few england caps, but that was that
iamafox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I'm not sure at this stage, if he has a dip in form then no chance. For the time being he is just concentrating on his club career.
Dan Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 Thing is, is he better than Andros Townsend and James Milner? I wouldn't swap him for Townsend and I wouldn't swap him for someone of Milner's ability on the wing.
Chrysalis Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 depends if liverpool want him, if yes the fa will call him up so they can tap him up.
jimmer Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Aparently Albrighton plays for villa still... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fantasyfootballscout/article-3198666/Fantasy-Football-scout-Marc-Albrighton-form-star-Thibaut-Courtois-endured-woeful-start-MailOnline-s-game.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Fantasy Football scout: Marc Albrighton is the most in-form star, but Thibaut Courtois endured a woeful start in MailOnline’s gameAston Villa smashed Sunderland with a little help from Marc Albrighton Riyad Mahrez was also chipped in and earned an impressive early score But it was a different story for Sunderland who were on the receiving end
shailen Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Thing is he's done exceptionally well when he's been in the wide, but he needs to prove this isn't just a purple patch and that he can do this consistently. He suits us at the moment, but not sure if he's a little one dimensional at international level. But he would offer a more traditional winger than anyone currently in the England set up
Wymsey Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Hope none of our players are chosen. We need Albrighton and Vardy fit at all times.

But he would offer a more traditional winger than anyone currently in the England set up That's pretty much my thinking. I don't think England have any better natural right wingers than him at the minute. Aaron Lennon's not as good anymore for me and Walcott I see as more of a wide forward, rather than a winger. Don't think Albrighton particularly fits England's system, assuming we actually have one.

It's still perplexing as a fan who saw the impact he made when he came into the side (without knowing the inner workings). Which is all most of us have to go on. His performances coincided with a team that thrived on attacking. Until then, Pearson set us up really not to lose. Which is just as plausible an explanation as any psychological weakness on the part of Albrighton.

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 But that's just the premier league, teams at the the bottom often have turgid runs like we did. We didn't lose game after game either and plaudits credited us on our desire to continue to play good football. People are just horrifically twisting the truth and using our points tally at the time to try and say Pearson was crap, which he was far from. You also forget that our line up of games after the new year were terrible and the focus was always to stay in touching distance for our easier run in. It worked, Nige commanded that, he was still in charge for that last part you know. Your facts regarding premier league history are also incorrect, other teams have done much worse. My comments are partially anecdotal, but I would like to see the 'facts' you have that enable you to label my version of events incorrect.

Which is just as plausible an explanation as any psychological weakness on the part of Albrighton. Thank you. "Until then, Pearson set us up really not to lose". Finally someone who can see why we struggled mid season last year. Ie, tactics employed by the manager that flew in the face of the notion of 'playing to your strengths'. I cite performances in the 'shit or bust phase' of the season when we had no choice but to go for wins 1st April onwards, as evidence.
Captain... Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 I don't get this fitness issues thing, when he came to the club he stated he was one of the fittest at Villa and was amazed at the fitness levels at the club as he was 9th, that doesn't mean he was unfit. I don't remember any injury problems. There may have been personal problems but i don't remember him given any time off. He was in and around the squad all season and just wasn't picked. As for England, if they adopted a 532 or 442 and required a traditional out and out winger he would be in with a shout, but as right forward in a 4231 I can't see it happening with the likes of sterling, Walcott, Chamberlain all laying claim to that spot.
gerrytaggart Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Just goes to show what a player can achieve when they move away from Villa.
