Gary Eatfood Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Simple. Mike Whitlow. Lovely bloke, consummate professional and a fine player also. Absolutely loved him.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Izzet and Heskey for years. After O'neil left we had some absolute rubbish walk in and out of our club. Never really had a player who I looked forward to watching. Then came Drinky...got high hopes again for him this year.

fazzyfox Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 At the time Tommy Williams always seemed a popular fans favourite (maybe his post footy career choice has diminished this), Gary Mills particulaly considering his history at Local rival clubs settled very well and was a reliable bit of quality with some spectacular long range goals. Personally and more of a cult favourite was Jari Rantanen, anyone who has their debut delayed whilst the kit manufacturers try to source a large enough piece of material to make their shorts (eventually using one of the sails from the Cutty Sark) wins my vote. Fond memories of a legendary reserves match where he led a team of mainly youth teamers to victory over a virtually first choice Man Utd side (fearful of potential relegation they did the Utd thing and tried to cheat their way out of it - succeeding by winning their following match). Really liked Theo Zagorakis, such a shame he left just before Lennon, he would have been a better option than Jones / Wise were. I also had short term favourites in Peter Weir - a Rolls Royce footballer and for about three weeks had Messi-esque expectations for Steve Corica. Arnur "Ming" Gunlaugsson, Rooster Russell both had brief spells where you were expectant of something special happening from them. Laurie Cunningham for his brief spell and another dependable character Russell Osman. Today Mahrez and Wasilewski. Then of course Walshy, he was a dirty B*st*rd but he was our dirty B*st*rd.

Asherz Posted 17 August 2015 Posted 17 August 2015 Pontus kaamark he was a absoloute beast .. Remember when he came along to a lcfc community kids training day and signed my shirt... ****ing ledge .
HighPeakFox Posted 17 August 2015 Posted 17 August 2015 Just too many to mention really. So, I'll mention Cambiasso, because apart from the fact that you don't expect a great to sign for LCFC, he gave it everything and celebrated like it was a World Cup. And an honourable mention for David Oldfield, because when he was on he was really on, and of course he was a proper scapegoat whatever he did.

RichMC24 Posted 17 August 2015 Posted 17 August 2015 Paul Ramsey - For coming on 2-0 down at half time and scoring 2 goals in a 4-3 win. Ian Marshall - For being unplayable in Madrid for an hour before they nobbled him. Tommy Wright - 19 goals and a night against Cambridge. Julian Joachim - For his goal against Portsmouth at the city ground, Nottingham, so fast. Muzzy - obviously Brian Deane - realised he wasn't just a big oaf upfront, genuine class. Cambiasso - just brilliant currently Danny Drinkwater - disappointed last year but the promotion season, he was sensational. Hoping for good things this year. a lot of the current team would make the list, but if you ask me in 15 years who I remember, its gonna be Vardy & Mahrez probably.
inckley fox Posted 17 August 2015 Posted 17 August 2015 My favourites have tended to be players who are underdogs, either not automatic first choices, technically inferior or widely slated by fans. I liked Oldfield a lot, for instance, when he was clearly not as good (except for 91-92 season) as Thompson. Russell was a big favourite, Ramsey, Poole, Kaamark. Under O'Neill I always maintained Gilchrist went the extra mile, playing with his head split open and pulling off spectacular goalline clearances every time he played, even though it's clear from looking at his career stats that he wasn't up to much. More recently, Berner and Wasilewski. But the best, as in really the best, have been Izzet, Guppy, Mahrez and Cambiasso.
