Leicester winger Marc Albrighton says new boss Claudio Ranieri has already made the Foxes "more composed and compact".

The Foxes have picked up under Ranieri where they left off last season under former manager Nigel Pearson, winning their first two games to make nine victories in 11 Premier League matches.

And winger Albrighton says the difference between the two bosses is the Italian's greater emphasis on defending.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "Going forward we feel like we're a threat every time we attack, with the players we've got up top.

"Obviously the work rate the lads provide will always create chances, and they won't let defenders rest on the ball.

"The new manager has come in and is trying to shore things up at the back. We need to be solid, which I feel like we have been towards the end of last season.

"This season we look more composed and compact as a unit. That's what (Ranieri) is trying to get over to us - if we can shore things up there, fantastic."

Saturday's 2-1 win at West Ham briefly took Leicester top of the nascent table and was their first successful trip to the Boleyn Ground since August 2000, when Darren Eadie's goal gave new manager Peter Taylor a first victory.

Taylor was a guest on Sky Sports Now on Monday and said Pearson left the side in good shape for his successor.

"Leicester finished their season incredibly well, and Ranieri's just keeping up the good work that Nigel Pearson was doing. They're playing with lots of confidence and energy, and little things are going for them.

"If you're Ranieri you don't change too much. I've been lucky enough to follow Tony Pulis (at Gillingham) and Paul Lambert at Wycombe, and you don't change too much.

"The last thing you need is to be telling players, who have respect for the former manager, that he was doing it all wrong."

Yeah, you missed a significant other job out of that list.....

Peter Taylor failed at Leicester because he tried to change the way we played and the players wouldn't commit to it, so that's a little ironic really.

I meant to post that elsewhere but I'd forgotten where I'd seen it.

I'm presuming he said all that in his Norman Wisdom persona.

'Sure things up at the back'?

Now don't get me wrong, our first two games have been cracking, but I wouldn't say that's down to our defensive side. We conceded twice against Sunderland!

We held out for 35 minutes against West Ham which is pretty impressive.

He seems to know how to close a game out. However he left it late to close it out against Sunderland we were playing far too open for too long. Think he learnt his lesson at west ham.

A pedant tells me it's "shore things up", not sure. Easy mistake to make, though, as "sure things up" kind of makes sense.

Think he means parking the bus at 2-0 up rather than trying to score another

tbf bar southampton (when we did go 2-0 up early and then maintained the game nicely to win) we never really had the opportunity to try and "park a bus" last year?

only 2-0 leads I can remember we had were southampton (won 2-0) newcastle (won 3-0 could've been 15-0) swansea (won 2-0) and qpr (won 5-1).

We didn't even park the bus at 5-3 against Man United, instead we stuck Jeff up front and he nearly banged in a sixth then we pulled off three nutmegs in six seconds. :riyadnicehat:

exactly i preferred pretty much all of last year's two goal leads to the ones we've had this year. even at 4-2 vs sunderland we seemed to be hanging on a bit.

3 points is 3 points though not gonna moan if we "hang on" to win every game.

I can just remember often last season we'd be winning and we'd bang on another striker rather than using every option for a defensive one, though we are only two matches in and it's worked so far

Main difference is we were never two goals up away from home last season, let alone in the first half.

Oh My God, did Peter Twatlor really say that, about not changing things too much, after what he done to Martin O`neils team!!

That was exactly my first thought! Can only assume he's realised what an awful mess he made here trying to put his own stamp on the team.
