Scotch Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Surely the only person who can convince CR that he deserves to be in the starting XI is Gray himself and he isn't going to do that right from the get go! Is he good enough to go in ahead of Albrighton? Maybe, but Claudio wouldn't throw him in ahead of him right away, he would come on as a sub a couple of weeks running and if he impresses both there and in training then yeah, give him a start. I doubt that even Gray would expest to be a first teamer from day 1 and if he was it would be a kick in the stovies to Albrighton. I would definately sign him though, get Dodoo out on loan and potentially a year loan for Yedlin and we are jamming!
LCCFox96 Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Well said. This whole situation for me is the perfect example of why the Premier League is counter productive for the national team. The stakes are too high to roll the dice and gamble. It's a mess. I agree in principle, as I did with Thracian. But Leicester City are 1 of 20 clubs in the PL. We've had 1 England international since what 2004? I hardly think we can take much responsibility for the state of the national team through use of non-home grown talents. Indeed 6/11 starters in the current PL team are home nations or academy products. The problem is above us with the likes of City and Chelsea farming 30 odd young players out in the football league or abroad. Those are the guys who should be playing regularly at club level to help develop the national team performance, not the likes of Leicester loaning out Dodoo (who has never played for England youth teams) and bringing in Gray (almost certain to receive pitch time anyway) as an upgrade. More specifically to the Dodoo:Gray debate, supposing we went with what some fans are suggesting; allowed Dodoo to step up and signed no replacement. Then, shortly afterwards Mahrez or Albrighton, or god forbid Mahrez and Albrighton, take a serious injury and Dodoo is unable to step up. We have a selection crisis. Whilst there is no guarantee Gray would step up he does look a promising talent and has significantly more experience than Dodoo, therefore being the more likely of the two to further establish ourselves in the PL. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Dodoo and thought he played excellent at Bury. I hope he gets his chance. But surely Gray is a sensible and useful upgrade at a time with a shortage of wingers - should we have 4 wingers with Albrighton and Mahrez's ability I would agree entirely with your point about the move being counterproductive. But we don't, we have 2 and therefore I can't see how Gray won't feature and how a move would be counterproductive. Like you say the stakes are often too high, not strenghtening our wingers and an unwanted injury/suspension problem could cost us a lot of points - why wouldn't we strengthen with Gray?
Blue Ed Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Looks like a promising young player. I would take the gamble at that price we can't pick everyone up for less than a million and the price isn't extravagant in todays market
Countryfox Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Be nice but just don't think he's coming ... Love to be proved wrong !!
Buce Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 Sign him, get rid of mahrez. Please tell me you're trolling.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 Please tell me you're trolling. Nah, he's going to be twice the player. As Knockaert would have been.
Blanchflower78 Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 knockeart couldnt deliver past championship level, mahrez has and will. He did the decent thing and moved on to pastures new, hope it works out for him - decent bloke.
CosbehFox Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 No, he's better than that. Speaking to a lad who has to watch a lot of Midlands football for work(steward at Birmingham City), he says he's far better than Grealish for example He's a journo actually but there we go.
BigMicky Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 He's a journo actually but there we go. Doesn't matter what job he does, he is still wrong. Grealish is a better player.
CosbehFox Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 Doesn't matter what job he does, he is still wrong. Grealish is a better player. It's all opinions but if someone who has repeated seen the pair of them says he rates Gray more. Then, I'd take his opinion with some standing.
BigMicky Posted 31 August 2015 Posted 31 August 2015 It's all opinions but if someone who has repeated seen the pair of them says he rates Gray more. Then, I'd take his opinion with some standing. I live in Birmingham, the only folk who believe that are Birmingham fans.

AKCJ Posted 1 September 2015 Posted 1 September 2015 Sounds like he has no ambition Jesus, we're not Barcelona. He'd prefer to stay at a club that want him to be their star man where he'll play every week rather than be a bit part player at a mid table Prem side.
