Migrants - What's the answer?

Recommended Posts

In other words none of our EU partners seem to agree what they should do or where the answer lies - having partly fanned the flames of the problem - yet we're supposed to be go along with them. You couldn't make it up! Idealism put to the test and found woefully wanting.

We've had this thread for a while now, and it's pretty clear there isn't a good enough answer. Some of the EU states are acting individually, because they're facing a reality of having thousands of migrants stay and travel through their land every day.

Reread the posts from MC and me. The EU are encouraging abuse of migrants.

I read last few pages, didn't see anything about the EU encouraging the abuse of migrants, would need some sources for this - or any hard evidence to suggest the EU as a union, encouraging this.

Eh? That's like me asking my dog to bite me in the balls. No one is encouraging it.

I said in my original posts that the EU are encouraging abuse of migrants in order to stop the influx.

It really hurts. I hope the red sucks never win another 'world' series.

That's why the Red Sox won't win another Wold Serie- oh wait that happened three times in the last 11 years

I'm drugged up and in pain. I can't read right now. Webbo, please censor my messages.

I was just imagining that abuse could definitely happen. We've seen camerwomen kicking migrants in Hungry. Kosovo/Serbia is a much tougher place in my experience. So I can imagine worse happening across the Balkans.

I wrote in my original post about the conversation with the journalist EU and Frontex are publicly admonishing Balkan countries for heavy-handed treatment of migrants but, behind the scenes, giving them carte blanche to deal with them as much as possible. Germany invited them in to get a bit of good press after the Greece debacle but are now terrified of the political consequences.

I feel like the last ten posts have just been us repeating the same things lol

Yeah i'm going to need sourced material and evidence to suggst the EU are encouraging the abuse of migrants to stop the influx.

I know the #RefugeesWelcome has done some good in providing food, water, shelter and care for the economic migrants, especially in Germany - and the Germans have been stamping out a rise in right-wing groups and opposition to the migrants, Merkel's stance is 'they're coming so deal with it' - getting Facebook on her side to censor and report those Germans with opposing views.

There are very few news stations and legitamte reports of actual encouragement of abusing migrants, and how this will stop the influx, I actually have no idea??? If the EU have a secret army taking out ships off of Greece, and using snipers to take out traffickers, then you'd have a case - but turning a blind eye to Balkan border forces using force to defend their borders isn't the EU encouraging abuse.

Again, we are repeating ourselves, but I'll have to disagree with you on that front. Maybe we disagree on acceptable levels of force.

I think that's where we're tripping up, i'm sure of it.

Sounds like an absolute mess in Finland by all accounts. Many of the migrants themselves are trying to leave because they don't like it there. Others are raping the locals. The locals are attacking migrant buses because they don't want them anymore. It's all a mess.

It's 'nice' to want to show a bit of compassion, it is, but when it's combined with a total lack of common sense or intelligence it leads to dangerous levels of idiocy, and that's what we've seen here.

Well look on the bright side everyone! At least Michael Palin won't have to leave the country to record his next series! :)

Immigrants are trying to leave Finland whilst others are raping the locals? Perhaps a tad inflammatory. The groups protesting are naming themselves 'son's of Odin' and the odd members are dressing up in KKK costumes for protests. I agree its a mess but the government are welcoming them with open arms and sections of the population are mobilising themselves in xzenophobic fashions which is being heavily reported today through the lenses of the Mail and the Telegraph.

When I see the words Mail and Telegraph used in the same sentence  in connection with a news story, I go into paranoid mode. Is this normal?

I'm not surprised if the likes of the guardian and independent aren't reporting it. Migrants behaving badly doesn't exactly fit in with their agenda and you can't report on the xenophobes (also in the wrong) without mentioning the rapists. It's a sad state of affairs that could have easily been avoided. There are some countries that have been very naive with all of this.

Maybe those papers do not report on the rapists because they do not have the same news reports as the other two so cannot confirm the validity of them.

Are you saying reporting on migrants behaving badly fits in with the agenda of the Mail and Telegraph?

That doesn't make a lick of sense.

Reporting the truth about migrant behaviour should be on the agenda of any socially responsible media outlet.

Not sure that's true but as we are on the subject of the Finns and The Guardian here's maybe some underpinning reasoning for the KKK and Odin (ous) reactions:

The truth according to the Mail and Telegraph because you agree with their reports without questioning them.

Is that worse than dismissing them because you don't want to believe them?

Moose said they have an  agenda to report on migrants causing trouble. If that is their aim then I will question as to how much stretching the truth has been done for its readers.
