Buce Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I'm scratching my head as to why you think that's confrontational at all, really. Because you were trying to score cheap political points over something that transcends politics. I'll probably get banned again now you've said that though, thanks Not at my behest, you won't; I said the forum isn't the same in your absence, and I meant it. I just wish you would recognize that not everything has to boil down to left/right political arguements.
Buce Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 No idea, he's become a right arse these last few weeks though, the exchanges between him and Claridge had me reaching for the sick bowl at times, everything this forum shouldn't be about. It'll be a cold day in hell before I care what you think.

I admit i was wrong in a lot of my posts and won't be so over the top in the future. Think Buce is nearing a breakdown as he got his knickers in a twist over a Llama yesterday.
Rincewind Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Never trust a Llama they will squeal like a pig if you let them down.

Claridge Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 That's really upset me, Claridge. I thought we were mates.. Just concerned for you buddy.Don't do anything rash will you? I was going to type in the box , but i'm a changed man.

MooseBreath Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 If the sea is coming in and you leave your clothes on the beach to go for a swim would you leave them near the sea or move them further away? All of this has been predictable. If you get an unexpectedly high electricity bill because you've been re-charging your electric robot sex slave everyday of the month. Do you write a cheque promptly or do you not pay the cheque and wait until extra penalty charges have been added before paying it? Of course the Western Leaders can write a check promptly and reasonable quality (I've never said high) refugee facilities to appear in time or quickly. I can't tell you what the left think but I don't think "throwing money" is the best or only solution. That's one reason why I'd consider better before throwing troops into countries to overturn governments that are not the ones we want at that time. Then again I'm not a person who wants to make those decisions for a nation either - my ego is big but not that big. Comparing the flow of refugees to the coming and going of the tides is a bit ambitious. I don't think refugee crises are nearly as predictable as you think and nor is it as easy to build adequate facilities as you think. On the original point you said we should feel ashamed and you can feel ashamed if you want, but I certainly won't be.

I think even you could predict the refugee crisis from Syria. I'd have thought you could probably predict a refugee crisis from Iraq and Afghanistan too. After all you predicted the Romanian migrant crisis long before Romania joined the EU.

RedSoxUK Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sjFHwRsKeA John Oliver is awful, 'I mean come on! Come on! It's 2015 people! Two Thousand and Fifteen!' He's part of the problem; especially in America it's far too mainstream and easy to appose the right views, and far too easy to support the left - broad, not just referring to that video, but Fox news are moronic most of the time. And then again at the end referring to Germany's welcome. Not everyone in Germany is so welcoming of the economic migrants as is perceieved. The preppy liberal Merkel's green party have made their bed, and the Germans will have to deal with it. Any public opposotion to the migrants: such as saying: "they're going to raise the rate of crime" will be dealt with by the German authorities as a brand of hate speech, and you can (in extreme cases obviously) have your children taken away for this - they're stamping out opposition, freedom of speech has become questionable in Germany. Then there's the reports of Germans being kicked out of their homes to make way for migrants - largely false, though there are cases of this and it's ongoing. Apartments being rented out by the city to Germans are being taken away as they need them for migrants; the landlords legal right is whether they 'need' the property personanly and in cases such as this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/11902296/Second-German-woman-evicted-from-her-home-to-make-way-for-refugees.htmlthe landlord doesn't have a legal case to defend her; with winter creeping round I expect a lot more of these cases to prop up. Any form of nationalism within Germnay has been beaten out, and if you show nationalism you get branded as 'faschist' and a 'bigot'. There are many anti-immigrant protests ongoing in Germany, covered as the buzzwords above - and there's even sources of how a large scale of migrants has already affected day to day life, especially for females. "In the Bavarian town of Pocking, administrators of the Wilhelm-Diess-Gymnasium have warned parents not to let their daughters wear revealing clothing in order to avoid "misunderstandings" with the 200 Muslim refugees housed in emergency accommodations in a building next to the school. The letter said: "The Syrian citizens are mainly Muslim and speak Arabic. The refugees have their own culture. Because our school is directly next to where they are staying, modest clothing should be worn in order to avoid disagreements. Revealing tops or blouses, short shorts or miniskirts could lead to misunderstandings." Sourced here with some frighteneing detail from Germany police: http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/6527/migrants-rape-germany?anid=7 It's not all sweet and dandy #welcomerefugees for all Germans.

I don't think they made that up. The crisis hasn't gone away just because something bigger has arrived, they are also still at war in Eastern Ukraine despite it not being in the news so much because the Syrian Civil War is filling the pages. One of the reasons I read The Times is because the "World" section is oustanding and has no comparison, it's still as interested in the stories that were filling the main news atricles two years ago as the more recent news.
Merging Cultures Posted 3 October 2015 Posted 3 October 2015 Where have they gone? Germany I'd imagine.

davieG Posted 3 October 2015 Posted 3 October 2015 Eurotunnel services for passengers and freight have been suspended after more than 100 migrants broke into its French terminal overnight, the company said. Channel Tunnel trains between Folkestone and Calais were unlikely to resume before 11:00 BST and passengers should rearrange travel, it said. A "massive intrusion by a large and co-ordinated group" at 23:30 BST on Friday was being tackled by French police. Eurostar said its passenger services were experiencing minor delays. It said passengers travelling from St Pancras, Ashford and Ebbsfleet should check in as normal. Service suspendedA Eurotunnel spokesman said a large group of migrants "arrived together an in a well-organised manner, broke through the fences and all clearly knew where they were going". "While they are on the track we have, for safety reasons, to suspend the service," he added. It would take time to return to a full train schedule, Eurotunnel said on Twitter. It said passengers cannot use their tickets on ferries during the disruption.
Guest Posted 3 October 2015 Posted 3 October 2015 Need a C change in parole and thinking. Immigrants boost an economy, it's been shown in many places and here in the UK.
